Yep still here! Have currently got 3 equines. A Welsh cob we had as a foal, an Irish Thoroughbred we were given, and a little Welsh pony we have on loan as a companion. I used to regularly post on the daily about our exploits. It is quite a saga. Lots of pleasure and quite some pain. Lainey will know what I mean!

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Bit of a lie in.
2) Hens ok and took 6 eggs to our neighbour.
3) Had a vague tidy up including cleaning the bathroom.
4) Lost 3lbs.
5) Lasagne for tea with courgette instead of pasta.
6) Walked halfway to meet bigger son walking home. Set off 7.45 and the moon was very bright on the snow. Heard one barn owl. Took 1.5 hours.15 -
Mehefin, am dead jealous !
My next move in life will hopefully incorporate some kind of contact with horses. Even if I just volunteer at a stable (does that happen ?). Am too old to own one, and have never learnt to ride but just being near them would be heaven. Have always loved horses, even went to see Monty Roberts when he came over here dragging 3 other urbanites with me. I have been to Sandown for Ladies day. Not sure how I feel about horse racing, don't know enough, but have watched 'Seabiscuit' about 11 times..............
Anyhoo............it's my birthday and I don't have ANY snow. Maybe next year.............
I DO have some beautiful purple and white tulips. My birthday present from OH. I asked him to buy them for me as they are what I wanted. A whole week of pleasure just looking at them.
My love to all

Bala happy birthday. Enjoy the tulips .
1. Seeing the frost glistening in the light of my torch when I let the hens out.
2. Saw some patients at work. I felt useful.
3. Video chat with my neighbour. I accidentally dialled on my phone!
4. Ironed and yes at the moment this is a pleasure as there seems so little of it since both sons moved out.
5. Watched Only Connect.15 -
Sorry friends,
back again to report that I have just had a major success/pleasure.
Yesterday I cooked Tiggy her chicken and veg (boiled). Kept the veg and juice. Bones and skin went to the foxes. I swear they watch me as they were gone within 5 minutes. It's that Hooman watch again. Blended the veg and juice into almost a paste, added a little water and...............(vegetarians/vegans please look away), a lamb's heart. Even to me the result looked wholesome. She couldn't eat it fast enough. Has licked the bowl clean.

Happy birthday Bala. Tulips 💐 sound lovely. The daffodils 🌼 I got on my click and collect last Sunday are still cheering me up😊
Sitting with the fire 🔥 (pleasure) doing my son’s year end accounts (not so much a pleasure)
Lovely sunshine ☀️ but not able to go out as waiting for delivery of new mobile phone 📱
That is a pleasure now it is set up, all shiny and new
Just as well I didn’t go out as walking friend got as far as the level crossing gates and was told by much younger walkers that it was too slippery so went home. OH working on the same Country Park said the same.
Stir fry for dinner 🥘 which OH now says he enjoys, a few years ago he wouldn’t have even tried anything like that !
terrific Tuesday all 😘16 -
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Bala, enjoy your day and the beautiful flowers 💐 re your love of horses it may be worth contacting your local RDA centre to see if they need any volunteers?
Hey Mehefin, how is Scooby Mare doing? Yes to the pain, toes are only just recovering from girlie’s latest tap dance on them, although to be fair she was having her teeth floated at the time!
For yesterday,
Trip to emporium, nice and quiet so felt able to browse the rtc counter a little, few bits came home with me and tucked away in the freezer.
Lots of sunshine but boy was it cold, grateful for warm coat, scarf & gloves.
At the yard, the new straw is obviously very tasty as my girl was eating her bed rather than her hay net! Trimmed her tail as so long nearly dragging in the mud then short walk around the paddocks.
Took small dog back to vets, she is much better said Mum, vet checked and said but still not full extended mobility, I know but she is 10 which is older for dogs. The vet wanted to x-ray etc etc oh and btw that will cost you nearly a thousand pounds, even with mask she must have seen my shock as quickly said well you are insured aren’t you!! What is alternative please!! More anti inflammatory tablets given.Don’t get me wrong, I will always do what’s best for my animals but the difference between equine and small animal vets is marked, have friends who have complained that since the retirement of founder this practice has gone downhill and it’s just about the money, think it may be time to move.
An evening with tv quizzes and an early night.15 -
Yes Lainey,
sadly there are vets out there that are over prescribing........for the money. Horrendous !
Thank you........will look up RDA..........

Lainey beat me to it!! RDA are always looking for volunteers in this area, so probably the same where you are.
Scoobymare is lame again! The joys of have a recovered laminitic - she still gets abcesses. Didn't stop the b1tch kicking me on the thigh before Xmas!! Still very sore but it could have been much worse. A friend has just imported a Percheron filly aged 9 months. I am SOOOO jealous! Our old vets went out of the large animal business . They made more money out of dogs and cats!) Our new vets are equine specialists. not cheap but good so far.

Aw on the Percheron filly, I do love a heavier type horse, my girlie is only 15hh but has such a deep chest & shoulders she is in 6ft3 rugs from a specialised supplier.
Am lucky in so much that the excellent NEH is within my area so she has fantastic care but can see why other equine vets struggle, never fails to amaze me that her annual jabs are only marginally pricier than those for my spaniel.....and NEH come to me!12
