Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) The snow melted on the roads as the day went by. Just in time for tomorrow’s forecast load!
2) Hens ok.
3) Brought in plenty of firewood.
4) Went for a walk in the forest so we could (belatedly) give my niece her birthday present.
5) Another builder came to give me a quote. Then I got a pushy text from builder number 1 saying he can start work on Thursday! So he won’t be in the running at all now.
6) Watched Casualty.
7) No longer in chronological order but just remembered that bigger son cooked the breakfast.
So it’s very cold again, snow forecast all day tomorrow and (again) the Severn has gone over the flood defences in our nearest town. And bigger son is watching It’s a Sin and shouting across the landing to me to explain what all the different terms are. I’ve had to explain what life was like in the 80s and how those dreadful adverts came out when I was 12 and we all thought we were going to die. And how my flat mate at university held LGB meetings in our kitchen and you were absolutely sworn to secrecy if you happened to bump into one of the people attending in public and how, if we all went out, the gay couples didn’t give away that they were in a couple at all and the lesbian couples would hold hands but let go the instant someone might see. And that was on campus!15 -

1. Long chat with friend. She has to make a decision this weekend about applying for her job as there is a reorganization at her company. I think it helped her talking through all the pros and cons.
2. Text from a friend. Her husband is much better in hospital and will be home tomorrow.
3. Text conversation with another friend throughout the day. Mostly about nothing much but good to be in touch.
4. Spent some time planting seeds in the greenhouse.
5. DH busy with painting. He appeared to be enjoying it as the end is in sight now.
6. Arranged delivery of new sofa and chairs for next Saturday.15 -
Good Morning Lovelies,
Saturday.......I need to start naming the days, as every day seems to be the same ☹️1. The snow stayed all day, and looked very pretty in the sunshine.
2. Dashed to the shop for bread and milk, and picked up lots of rtc bargains.
3. Greyhound pyjamas arrived. (Indoor dog coats, as greyhounds get very cold, a bit like horses 🙂). They look very cute, but not very popular with our boy. Apparently he prefers a blanket. So, Milly can have 2 onesies.......She has refused to take hers off!
4. Made BBQ pork steaks for dinner, which was very popular, and rtc cheesecake for desert.......I seemed to spend the whole day cooking, which was nice. 🙂
5. Watched The Minimalists on Netflix........interesting 🤔
Have a lovely Sunday 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)

For yesterday,
A lie-in followed by eggs on toast for breakfast.
The Postie came with another SH book and small dogs supplement, she is markedly better and has a check up tomorrow.
Very cold at the yard, swapped girlie’s rug for her warmer stable one with neck cover, cleaned out her feet & sprayed with ACV to prevent any nasty fungal infections with so much wet weather, fed her a parsnip and generally cosseted.
Just leaving when the snow started and by the time halfway home it was like jumping into light speed, quite hypnotising really and I was glad to get home. Made us both a honey & lemon drink as starting to feel like I had a cold.
Easy saturday night tea of blue cheese burgers with HM wedges.14 -

Good afternoon
Bit grey here and very cold. No snow but very frosty so no walk for me! Managed the last Pilates session of the week tho, so that must count for something.
M Hagster - was it you who posted a recipe for yoyo biscuits ages ago? If so, thank you. I've finally got round to making them and they're delicious. And dangerously moreish.
VJ's mum - so glad DD is beginning to pick up. These daughters are a worry ( and so are sons!)
Yesterday
More of the same really. Made biscuits. Made curry. Read my book. All very samey.
Kept my new £1 Christmas rose in the house. Ground too frozen to dig a hole even if I wanted to. More buds have opened. It seems happy being a beautiful house plant for now.
Happy frosty Sunday everyone

Last night I cooked a really tasty meal. Have been struggling with OH as he seems to have gone off meat. I wouldn't mind that if he was willing to eat pulses but that's always hit and miss. I despaired when a few weeks ago he wasn't keen on a piece of lamb that I roasted. But last night I found out he loves LEG of lamb. I roasted it slowly and served it with broccoli, sprouts (yuk !), petit pois, gravy and creamy mashed potatoes. I got a 10 out of 10 !
Cooked chilli con carne for the 2nd time the other day and sneakily bulked it out with red lentils. Thank goodness they kind of disappear into the sauce. This was all helped by my new best friend 'Sally the Slow Cooker'. No-one noticed. I now have dasterdly plans..............
I really want to move away from 'meat and 2 veg' for a variety of reasons. I don't think I will ever be a vegetarian but when I win the lottery (I will !) my forever home will have enough space for 2 sheep (black of course) 2 cows, 2 pigs etc. They will be pets (never eaten) and will be my way of thanking/apologising for my consumption of their kind. Thank goodness I've never eaten snake !
Well one of my wishes came true today. Had a flurry of snow for a little while. It's my birthday this week and am wishing for just one day of settled snow. The kind that when you wake up in the morning everything is white and silent. Fingers crossed.
my love to all

MandM we have ferrets, all neutered that eliminates the smell, they live in the house with us. This is Sherbet, she’s deaf, so likes to be included on everything and to know where we are, not the best photo. We used to walk with her and take her everywhere with us, but of course with the long lockdowns we can’t now and she’s missing it, so just enjoying being around.
Some for yesterday.
1 It was hard to motivate myself today but got a few bits done. Our bedding washed, turned the mattress around, hoovered the upstairs, put clean bedding on, and then vaxxed where I’d hoovered. I ran out of steam so the downstairs didn’t get done.
2 Re filled all the birdfeeders a real pleasure to see them being used so much.
3 I did a bit of baking, cooked up some chocolate cupcakes, and cooked up some sausages as I’m craving a full English so I pre cook the sausages to save time tomorrow, and might have snaffled one fresh out of the oven.
4 The d. paperwork clearing continues, its both a pleasure and demoralising at the same time. 2 more files done, feels like a bazillion more to go.
