Happycas - both my sons have had minor operations (as in: wake up, drink squash, go home) and it is extremely worrying.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) A lie in.
2) Blood Sugar Diet continues. I feel better than yesterday but have moved onto the dryest of dry mouths. (I've done this diet twice before so know how it goes).
3) Hens OK.
4) Got all jobs done that needed doing around the house. Not a bad tea - chicken tagine.
5) Smaller son came to a decision about his schooling (open but coronavirus) so he is being taught online from tomorrow. Hopefully he will get bored of that and, as the cases go down, will venture in occasionally. At least that decision is made now and school and the driver informed.
6) Bigger son was suddenly summoned to a zoom meeting with people from the apprenticeship that he has got but not started yet. I secretly though perhaps they were going to stop the whole scheme, but no! He "met" the other 3 apprentices to be and the other lad has the same name as him! (Quite unusual). They have put the start back to mid February but then it is all go, with his own room on site and kicking off with getting his paddleboarding, kayaking and other watery teaching certificates.
7) Watched the second part of 24 Hours in Police Custody. Good of all those blokes to come forward and submit statements.15 -
1. Quite enjoyed my walk to bus stop despite the fact it was raining.
2. Spoke to some nice people in the phone. Also helped out clerical team in my extended hours. Not so great that Saturday clinic cancelled- it was expected but money would be useful.
3. Ironing done and put away. There is less of it now that neither son is here.
4. Enjoying my book. Last book I read was an effort to finish.
5. DH happy with quiet evening. He normally liked to be busy.12 -
Hugs for HappyCas.
For yesterday,
Woke up hungry so boiled egg and marmite soldiers for breakfast.Got a couple of quotes for horse insurance as current provider has suggested putting it up by nearly £100 a year with no claims made!
Trip out for essentials, pet food, bird food and petrol.
Topped up all the feeders inc the Niger seeds which had been empty for week or so, within 10 mins the goldfinches were back.
Reading in bed, started a new book The Wild Silence, follow up to the Salt Path, hooked already.14 -
DD, have not touched my hair with dye for at least 2 years. Wanted to see how grey I have become. The result is half and half although have found a Mallen/Mallon streak underneath at the back. Am sympathising with my crows.
But purple is definitely on the cards.

According to a lovely poster I am Bala the Brave who wrestled a Tiger. You know who you are.....

Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
A lie in. The HT is doing online school so no need to get up at sparrow fart to make sure that he looks perfect before he leaves the house. Online school can be done in pjs and a minging dressing gown apparently.
I had to collect a lava lamp that the HT has bought as a present for someone so called in at supermarket next door while I was there. No crowds beating the door down, only raspberries out of stock (I may have some in the freezer, need to check the list) so apart from the raspberries everything that I wanted was obtained. The cheap tubs of Twiglets were an unexpected bonus.
Out again later to collect my looked after person. My afternoon and weekend work will carry on but I don't have to go out in the cold first thing to see him onto his bus. His parents will do that because they're home too.
Brief chat with sister via online messages.
Early to bed (clean bedding) to read some more of my book. I do love my warm and comfy bed.
Take care all of you15 -
Good morning
Thank you for all the support.
Have spoken to DD this morning( praise be for technology in these no-visitors times) and she sounds well and positive, so time for me to get a grip!
DfV - Thank you for the fat quarters suggestion. Off to see if Liberty has a sale!!
D Doll - started watching Traces. Dundee looks lovely, if it is , in fact, filmed in Dundee. I'm sure some of the 'sights' are. Will add it to the list of places to visit, when we can.
Right, a day of housework awaits.
Happy Wednesday everyone15 -
Take it from me!
Nice Gap!
Veg lurking inn the fridge, that be bitsers dinner! Riskottos, Soup Proper Food!
DD Mayonnaise, a waste of eggs!
VJ. I don't knead to knows about your ....Rite, a charmer for yous!
Had Buzzard grumponola last nite. Not inn the Jimmy and Dela crook series at all! Nice chunks of buzzard, chopped mushrooms, onions into pan with tad of the garlic. Hint of the chilli, with creamy chicken sauce and a splash of tom puree! Made with rice. We had a pack of microwave rice from Ben that was on the round last year in Knockdown 1! We has no microwave at BoP Palais! Did inn the man and I has too tells you lot nows, it is carp! All clump. AVOID! Still, when cooked properly, it nearly is alright, but a long way off! Kitty had her mousse for her dinner!
Talk inn of Kitty, I has too ask, why she is token to come down with BoP inn the morning, and get her proper food, then leaves it to check on BoPise, then chase her down the stairs! One question, I has too shave each day and all BoPsie has two do is shower! How come it takes BoPsie longer to do so!
Watched a repeat on the flix system last nite, Support your local Sheriff! Old I nows butt very good. Wobbleades and cheeses were consumed! Kitty had her special treat as well!
Tuck BoPsie to her salt mine this morning and I forgets me wallet, so I nipped her card and wents offs to the A1D! to do the shops! Mackerel has bin purchased so watch this space for another recipe from BoP. Mackerel kedgeree. Again not in the Jimmy or Dela crook book! Also gets the wings of buzzard for pickies on SatNight!
Not connected to the Docks today as I is part time only and they has ...
Was going too start the little jobs thisday, butt pulled as I fort the DiY was closed. As it is open, I will take BoPsie too her Salt Mine inn the morning and give it some wellie! Details soon, butt prepare that BoP notes will be late Thurs and Friday. Friday I has Teams call!
Ok, just all keep safe, check the parish!Well, that makes it good then!

Frith good news on the vaccine for your parents! We spoke to an elderly friend from our old area on the 'phone on Sunday. He is patiently waiting as he's 'only' 75. Fingers crossed roll out is efficient.
My pleasures...
1. Getting stuff done. Christmas stuff in garage, taking cat to vets later which I've been putting off, which should get meds sorted. Did some work related training.
2. I've been asked to do some more freelancing for friends' startup. They now have some huge blue chip clients. It's just a few hours work but will amount to an extra £500 over Feb/March and it's also really fun stuff. I took a 30% pay cut moving to Northern Ireland so, though it is much cheaper here, it's nice to get these little bumps.
3. Am doing really well with meal planning. Fridge looks quite empty but I have everything I need for next few days. Cauli and lentil curry tonight, almond butter veggie noodles tomorrow and then naughty deep fried chips and veggie nuggets on Friday. I'm determined to stick to the food budget this month but also not to order take aways. I'll prep the chips Friday morning to increase my chances.
4. Got news today that title deeds have been sent to our solicitors. Searches raised and expected within 3 weeks. It's all happening. Have started a 'smallholding' line on budget.
5. Bit of a weird one. Been chatting to an old Uni friend whose currently stranded on his parents private game reserve in SA until flights resume back to London. One pleasure is getting back in contact and tentatively organising a night out some time in 2021, but the main one I suppose is realising how content I am. His family have hundreds of millions, and he was gifted his first few million when I met him as a teenager, but it's actually stopped him doing anything with his life. Can't fill self-made dad's shoes, doesn't need to work for money, has had various drug and other issues. Did nothing with his very marketable degree from top 5 Uni. Right now he sounds lonely and bored (and I know I'm horrid for somehow deriving a 'pleasure' from it). Obviously I wouldn't mind sunning myself right now rather than working in my slippers, but it's really nice to stop and suddening realise...'oh, I think I'm actually fairly happy in my little normal person life'.11
