Recent pleasures:
Visited the crematorium as it would have been mum’s 99th birthday. Mum, dad and brother there. Pleasure was it was a lovely sunny ☀️ morning, it’s usually so cold and windy there.
Roast turkey dinner, I’ve been buying the small Iceland breast joints and they make a lovely weekend roast with all the trimmings, leftovers including stuffing and veg will be made into a potato topped pie 😊
Apple (from the garden) and raspberry sponge for pud this weekend, made a nice combination.
i watched a couple of episodes of The Crown, still not as good and still toe curling!
OH and I kept falling out yesterday, nothing serious but just niggling at each other. All seems forgotten this morning as he brought me my usual early morning cup of tea ☕️ and biccie 😊
Have a good Monday everyone.
Forgot to say there must have been idiots letting off fireworks in the playing field next to us, 1 lot at about midnight starting with an enormous bang and lots of slightly less ones then another lot at unbelievably 2.30 in the morning! What is wrong with them?!!12 -
For yesterday,
Up early and watched the sunrise.
Bacon butties followed by the Archers omnibus, good job I had a hankie in my pocket 😢
Cold but sunny day so good to spend some time in the garden tidying up, small dog supervised while keeping us supplied with tennis balls.
All hungry so enjoyed our roast chicken dinner then all three of us had a nap!
Listened to the Boss on the radio, we keep forgetting to download so have quite a few to catch up on.14 -
Lainey, I found the Archers incredibly moving, I listen in bed at night and it usually sends me to sleep, it didn’t the other night! 😢14

Not sure why, but with good feeling Radio 3 right now, after hearing announcer give morning temps from Hebden Bridge, Knibster, Ipswich....have never heard them given before. Have never heard of Knibster, spelling guessed at, but will search after this:-)
That's after more good watching/listening/reading - Jacinda's latest update chat. The lucky country....mon dieu, que OUI:-)

Spending old time there, too:-)🇳🇿
1. Both crimbo cakes done - 8", 5hr on Saturday; 12", 7½hrs yesterday. 20 eggs later :-) Fully cool in tin this morning. Big wrap tuck away, protected in larder element of no 1 shed later. All done right-handed, grindingly slow, clumsy, arduous, but DONE.
2. Clunkiest zoom church yet, sitting out, with blanket in frosty yesterday. Leaves are +95% down, but this hasn't upped zoom success as somehow expected. Some AGMs are zooming up too, concerning if lockdown means &+Meriva can't drive out somewhere hunting elusive connectivity.
3. Welcome back, jay:-) Love them. Jenny wren joined in. Post-church breakout room coffee shared with them, then robin, dunnock, strange new blackbird, thrush and someone bigger unidentified - streaky browns, beiges, creams. Collared doves and less welcome wood pigeons. Backdrop back field, now green, loads of crows, gulls, 1 heron, several sparrowhawks.
All busy, busy over a still half-hour. Good.
4. This morning - CWP received. Grateful, especially with nothing like any return to earning/Spitalfields possibilities visible on any horizon yet.
5. Set 2 indoor hyacinths up. On verra.

Comms with several young friends who are struggling variously. Several of us, older ones, feel concerned for them, do what we can, aware as we are that we cannot replace losses of love, or of life.
#
Tomorrow, Addenbrookes and try again, 2 procedures. Hopeful.

Well, can't find Knibster/Nibster/Nipster/Knipster - any variant, so who knows whose temperature was heard:-)CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Ampersand, when your surgery team inspect their handiwork & eye you consideringly, use the Nibster ploy to distract them? As I didn't realise Wikipedia had a locations aspect [and am now chortling gently at Nine Maidens Downs] - do reward their talent with a suitable display of your charm & intelligence? (Owch washing hair, but genuinely vital to morale.)11

Oh yes, dfv - The Hairwash:-) That was the trickiest Ablute yet. Then untangling, comb through , slow dry.
Since, daily brushing and winding back up onto top of head, then spearing = more tiresomes. More bending in half to southern hemisphere, brushy brush brush. Twist hair in one hand, then straighten up, hoping it stays for a minute, long enough to reach for heron beak clip in right hand, then try to stab it through the lot. Keeps tumbling back down. Try again...CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

BoP - mum's film is on i-player. I thought our box was just being contrary when it hadn't recorded, ( it often is!) So found it elsewhere. Get your hankie ready.
Finished writing Christmas cards. Early, I know, but not much else to do at the moment!
Spoke to my brother. A very rare occurrence. We've never fallen out but never really been close. And geographically are miles apart. Anyway, I got in touch by email and he rang back. Not just rang, but What's App so I could see him too. Felt very moved, and vowed to keep in touch. Our mum and dad would be very pleased.
Loving Christmas Chronicles. Thanks to D Doll and others. The descriptions of the German Christmas markets are superb. And now I want to go there!
Another bright day
Happy 🌞 Monday everyone

Hot shower and jammies on and in for the night apart from a quick doggy walk later.ETA my boy just phoned for a chat. He’s had a good day and an 8 minute commute to work and he’s coming home on Friday for the night!10 -
Happycas if you're on FB there's a group called 'beyond the Christmas chronicles' where fellow addicts post reflections (and cooking if you've tried one of Nigel's recipes). we're having a virtual German Christmas market 12th / 13th December (not live, just join in the fun and post a picture or reflection) - mum and i are entering into the spirit at hers - we've already bought some tasty items from Mr L and will watch Nutcracker - Russian music but a German fairy-tale, and most definitely a Christmas classic
1) the feel of mrpiano's dressing gown - it was too big for his packing so now i have it - it's very snuggly and has a hood
2) the taste of a brie and red onion marmalade toasty - i rediscovered the breville when looking for a vase
3) the sight of a snake charmer - well actually it was the Virgin guy threading through the cable, but made me laugh. we now have tv (including bt sport) and a super duper internet speed which is just as well cos
4) the sound of my son saying he's coming home on Thursday. priceless. we'll have to look up the quarantining rules but he'll be home for Christmas. been worrying about him living all on his own up there.
5) the smell of my hyacinth which is just starting to flowerMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
