wonderful vl for son's flat - life continues despite the pandemic.
a son with beetle eyes dfv heard it all now! for yesterday before i go out into the glorious sunshine (already been out and had to take jumper off it's so warm!)
1) very much enjoying Raynor Winn's The wild silence (follow-up to Salt Path and passed onto me by lovely book club member)
2) last of the spicy smoked mackerel from Lidl (unlike Widl which i see is the supermarket in beano town). had it mashed on toast - super
3) meetings ended at 4 so took advantage of the last of the sunlight and walked the dogs - it was a glorious blustery November drizzle. met a friend, now retired, out walking her dog so we had a very quick catch-up
4) fry-up Friday with dd2 while listening to tributes to Jan Morris. A bit of self-pity may have slipped in as my ex didn't stay with me, but DD2 as always cheered me up. and she gave me a couple of jammy dodgers for pudding
5) book-club - the book was the honey bee's heart has 5 cavities - reminded me of how i lived for a year on a pound a day as similar search of single woman a bit lost for more meaning to life imho.
Right, off to read the last section of The wild silence in the glorious sunshine. The dogs are snoring.

Hello all - couldn't believe it when it said "21 new posts" but then realised that i'd not posted since wednesday
SO pleasures since then
Thursday
1. Assessmenting was AWFUL. I did a bit of a c0ckup - no damage done but i felt bad. the pleasure is that (after Monday) i have decided never to do it again. i don't have to and it causes me stress. In most parts of my life i am confident and feel competent - i think i am competent at this but don't feel it, so it can do one! I've committed to Monday's, so will do it but no more after that - except maybe the odd research one.
2. The assessments were over by lunchtime, so i had begg for lunch. Mainly because it was quick.
3. I did a yoga session to clear my mind - was extremely good and did the trick.
4. gin followed by wine
5. Family film night - DS's choice - whiplash. I'd never have chosen it but it was excellent
Friday
1. Put the conservatory back together - it doesn't look like one of our rooms - far too organised!
2. cleaned all the windows and UPVC in the above - doesn't get done often
3. Dusted bedroom and had clean sheets
4. OH cooked the most delicious fish in a curry sauce
5. Another family film night - Big Hero 6 chosen by DD
6. (from the bank) enjoyed watching two episodes of White Teeth
And today
1, A family walk at a local beauty spot - even DD came, which is unheard of
2. Finished my prep for monday's assessmenting
3. gin
4. washing went out on the line - partially dried
5. we've lit the woodburner and hopefully will watch the final Queen's Gambit tonight.
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
sorry bop bad day for the mariners. for today, 5 pleasures for 5 senses
1) the feel of the sun on my back as I swept some of the 110 steps down to the railway bridge. I should have done them before they got damp! but i love that walk so much I am very happy to keep the steps serviceable
2) the sound of the wind chime at the botanic gardens
3) the taste of the carrot cake I had at the café after my walk round the gardens
4) the sight of the red sunset as I left, so beautiful over the Tay and the hills of Fife
5) the smell of a wood fire as I walked home

my big pleasure yesterday was an hours walk along a river path .
It was during my 2 hr respite break ,there’s nowhere to go and needed to clear my head ,
just drove into town ,parked and walked in the drizzle .
wasn’t very far and I am as unfit as I thought ,but I will do it again .16 -
Hello. A day of so much rain! The heaviest of showers then bright for a bit but then heavy showers again. And cold.DD1 birthday ( nice chat this morning) Cards arrived ( phew) but gift wasn’t dispatched until today. Grrrr.
Happy birthday to PK too.
Picked up a chair from a local seller. For the boy. So now I have an extra chair in my living room. Just for a week.
watched a schmaltzy Christmas movie...may have dozed on and off. Fire was on . Too cosy.Son made dinner.Cleaned a very skanky fridge! Something had spilled and then frozen so it was a bit grotty so all nice and clean now. Then DD1 called me but was a bit grumpy! Grump off! Will do the doggy walk after strictly and hope it’s a dry stretch!13 -
1 Thank you Mhags, I still love birthdays, I don’t seem to have grown out of it at all.
2 Luxuriant gifts, books on foraging, a gorgeous notebook, a ferret tankard and lovely food.
3 We had a wonderful takeaway, the first Chinese food since Feb for us, but we think we might be reaching an age where we need to eat earlier, and well we definitely eat less than we used to.
4 I’ve been given the first book in a long time I haven’t been able to put down.
5 My wonderful DH spent hours, hand making birthday treats in the kitchen.
And some help opening things..

Loved your post all about the senses DDBelated birthday wishes PK sounds like you had a great day and aww on that little helper.
Glad that you managed to get out for a walk SSue.
For yesterday,
Bed very warm and cosy so easy to have a lie-in.
Filled up the bird feeders, I’ve noticed that the most courageous and first ones back on are the Goldfinches, tiny birds but very brave.
Took some more chaff over to the yard, even though the bag is sealed it still makes my car smell good.
Tidied up my mare’s mane and tail while she had her head stuck in her hay net. I thought she was unaware of what I was doing but when I took an apple out of my pocket I barely managed one bite before a gentle, but oh so determined muzzle nicked the rest out of my hand! She had already had a carrot but snacks are what Mum is for apparently, my old gelding Bill used to enjoy a cheese sandwich ☺️We also enjoyed a Chinese takeaway for tea, small dog is especially fond of a prawn cracker or two.13 -
Happy belated birthday PK
1. DS1 has picked his keys up and has moved some of his stuff in. He was left a card and box of celebrations by people moving out and a note about a lovely neighbour. Started late afternoon cleaning the kitchen. It was left clean but has now been done again. Some things in cupboard already. Had to wash his stuff from storage.
2. Long chat with friend on phone. Good to catch up.
3. Laughing with neighbours about their escapee chickens. Not sure how they escaoe!!
4. Planted more bulbs. My parents had sent me some as part of my Christmas present.
5. First Christmas present! DS2 told me off for opening but it was a pair of standard holly trees in pots and some bulbs and I wanted to keep them alive.14
