For yesterday,
Awake early and reading book in bed, so cosy either end of the day.
Cleared out the boiler cupboard and found evidence of mice, eeek, but even more worrying our boiler seems to be a tad sooty so quick phone call to usual heating maintenance guy.
Found two traps in shed and put in place with the enticement of peanut butter, they are of the humane kind as couldn’t stand the other.
Watched a Sky Arts programme about The Style Council and relived a happy time in my youf.
Tea was a veggie all day breakfast, potato rosti baked with mushrooms, toms and eggs, yum.13 -
For yesterday
1. DS2 birthday - he enjoyed it and saw his girlfriend briefly from the end of her drive as she has tested positive.
He also had a long chat with an elderly lady while having a blood test and knows all about her 20 grandchildren. The blood test lasted over an hour!
2. Work - I survived it but it seemed really long.
3. Had a takeaway for tea at DS2 request. We all enjoyed it.
4. Watched GBBO.
5. Read some of my book12 -

Evening all
Just had takeaway fish'n'chips for tea. Very good.. No room for pudding!
Made first batch of candles. Ones like Yankee candle make me sneeze so I'm trying my own with soy wax and essential oils. They have to harden off now before I can try them out, but I'm very hopeful.
I've started knitting a striped scarf to use up leftover wool. I've been knitting for years and years but have realised I don't know what to do when I change colours. Do I cut off the last colour and weave in later or do I sort of weave it in along the edge of each row? I've knitted fair isle jumpers in the past, so I can't believe I can't work out the best way to do a two colour scarf!!
Happy November evening everyone13 -
For yesterday.
1 Tidied up the garden various toys through the washing machine, and 2 bags of leave collected up, I still have some bulbs to plant but that’s tomorrows list.
2 Had cheesy pasta for lunch and felt rather tired after carb excess.
3 Hanging various washing loads on the line to try and get the worst out as no dryer at the moment, holding out at the moment ever hopeful for a black Friday offer.
4 Long roasted pork belly slice with rice and veg is tonight’s grub.
5 Candles alight and reading a bit of “The Five” book.
For today.
1 Up early and 3 wash loads hung outside, and did the manic run to get it all in, from the finest rain.
2 Some basic cleaning to keep the house “okay”.
3 The Mr T delivery loved that a ferret decided to make a run for it out the front door but was stopped dead in her tracks by the smell of food on the doorstep and instead climbed into the shopping container.
4 A baking kind of day. I have previously jarred up homemade mincemeat, so cooked up some mince pies tastes great, but no points for looks. Then batch cooked up a bolognaise type sauce for spaghetti bol tonight, after that I’ll turn it into a 2 bean chilli for later in the week.
5 Caught up on a couple of things I have been meaning to do, one was a zoom presentation on how to do some basic computer graphics, the other Neil Gaimen on you tube doing a Halloween reading. I’m currently down a rabbit hole trying to work out how to do something with photos and writing. I could be a while.
6 I won a bay item, of a small aynsley cottage garden cake plate. I inherited them from mum a few years ago now when I was clearing the house, bless I remember her saying they would be an investment! Of course no one wants it these days so we use the plates, but one landed from the cupboard onto the hard worktop and shattered so I’ve replaced it as it makes a portion of cake look like the biggest thing ever.

5. penultimate Queen's Gambit
And today
1. MORE tutorialing - although this time had only 3 students out of 11. It gave me opportunity to prepare next week's sessions though and more prep for assessmennting
2. Forced myself to take a walk up the lane - enjoyed it
3. DD was in the study this PM so i sat in the lounge with the log burner lit all afternoon - was fab as it's horrible outside.
4. Another Zoom with different friends who i haven't seen since June. One had worrisome health but is looking much better - even on Zoom!
5. Salmon for tea
6. Probably a family film night or an episode of summat.
Have a good evening all - thank you for all your posts, i always thoroughly enjoy reading them.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
A day mostly ghastly here! Got absolutely soaked through on the doggy walk this morning. And I mean right through! However whilst we were out I watched 2 seagulls chase away a heron in the sky above me. So that was quite thrilling.
Then went into work. Busy enough to start with then slowed right down. Had very nice lasagne and salad for a late lunch.Lots of chatter with customers as I was out front.DD2 popped in.Stayed back to do a bit of frippery with Christmas decorations. And chatted for ages to boss.
Okay amount of tips.Home and son made spag bol for tea. Had leftover from work salad with it.I may have cracked open a box of mince pies.13 -
assessmenting rofl vjsmum
1) up early as brown bin empty (garden waste) and i have paid £35 to have my bin emptied fortnightly and today was the day of the brown bin. by 8:30 my brown bin was full, i was breakfasted, the dogs were attended to and i was at my desk
2) being up early i was treated to a glorious red sunrise. watch out shepherds!
3) very nice smoked mackerel with peppers (Mr L) and salad for lunch
4) dd2 bought me the Beano cos it has an 8 page Beanold (beano for grown ups) - very funny - stars a bumbling boris (is there any other?!) and a Dominic Cummings who looks awfully like Gollum. And Minnie has lost her voice.
5) chicken curry for tea and now i'm going to read some more of my book while the wind whistles outside
