Ampersand - pleased to hear you're being a good girl and doing as you're told.
Not a bad day. At least it's not raining!
DH's birthday today so need to make a cake soon. Just Victoria sandwich, cos that's his favourite.
Had a nice phone chat with friends in Spain. Their lives are much like ours really, except cafes are open, and it's much warmer. 23° today.
Got our winter fuel allowance. A nice surprise cos we always forget. As usual, have diverted some to a homeless charity. I fear it will be needed this year more than ever.
Happy Monday everyone16 -

1) good night's sleep and woke early, walked dogs, had breakfast and at my desk by 7:30
2) took a longer than an hour lunch hour and went to Fisher & Donaldson to buy some more Scottish treats for dad's hamper - Dundee cake, bannocks and mince pies
3) also bought dd2 a lovely little frog cake - she has finished her antibiotics, 7 days of 4 times a day, no food for 2 hours before or an hour after - so a celebratory frog cake
4) got my washing almost dry outside (now airing in the hours)
5) made some tomatoey pasta for tea, and enough for tomorrow's lunch

Pleasures today...
A gorgeous autumn day when out with the dog.
Most of the washing dried on the line, the last few bits just needed half an hour in the dryer to finish off.
Reading Nigel Slater's Christmas Chronicles, very descriptive.
Two sessions of choir today, coffee morning this morning, rehearsal this evening.
Aloo Keema and rice for lunch, turned out well, and leftovers enough to take to work later this week.
Finished off Dutch apple tart, nice warm as a pud but also nice cold as a cake. Dead easy to make - shortcrust pastry base, sprinkled with ground almonds. Pile on sliced apples and a few sultanas with a sprinkle of sugar. Make a crumble with flour, butter and sugar, and put on top of the apples. Bake at 180 degrees for 40 minutes.
Sitting here after a shower, listening to Classic FM.One life - your life - live it!14 -
1 Meal planned through to Friday, its pasta bake tonight.
2 Applied for a couple of jobs.
3 Made a to do list (for tomorrow), as it keeps slipping.
4 Booked onto a virtual exercise class just 30mins to start with for a while.
5 Quite engrossed in the untold lives of Jack the Ripper, not sure I like the style but it’s interesting.
DH has had a really bad day with pain, he’s very down, I'm trying to get him more positive and to talk with a doc about pain management . Did manage to get him laughing at a film at least.

Happycass, Happy Birthday to hubby.........
PK, sorry your OH is in pain. Am just about to contact doctor re the same. Fed up of constant pain. It does wear you down.
Have been researching the possibility of getting Tiggy's cataracts removed. Most say that as dogs are nose led their eyesight is not as vital. But it really hurts to watch her bump/walk/run into things. Just cannot find anyone that has been through this with their dog. Other than this and her ramping up her need to always be close to me, health wise she appears fine.
Have new contract with internet provider. I couldn't stand it dropping out multiple times everyday so took matters into my own hands. New package is £1.00 less !
Who knew it could work so fast.
Have a good day.

For yesterday,
We seem to have acquired a wild rabbit as a pet, every morning it’s in the back garden eating grass and stays there while we eat breakfast, then I see it on and off during the day, it’s quite big for a wild one.
Received bees wax candle in post, made in Felixstowe so big tick for small, local business.
Trying to avoid the big river site as feel someone makes enough money and doesn’t need mine!
Equine girlie had the farrier, only takes 5 mins now as barefoot.
Made a loaf and couldn’t resist the still warm crust, covered in butter.
More food! this time it was an easy tea of baked spud with cheesy beans followed by the rest of the cherry & apple crumble.

Good Morning Folks,
Sunday
1. Cut some twigs of fir tree from a fallen branch in the park. Planning to make a wreath for the back gate.
2. Making inroads into the washing pile.......drying is the problem.
3. Used DH coupons in the Coop to fill the freezer again.
4. Fake Christmas dinner to celebrate DS2 returning to base. (Who knows if he will be back for Christmas?).
5. DS2 Lingering at the dinner table. He knows I will miss him.
Yesterday
1. Took DS2 to new base. Tearful goodbyes. .........phone call just before the motorway to return, as he had left a bag in the car 🙄. The pleasure being that we got to see him in his uniform.
2. Coffee at Costa on the motorway.3. Home in time to make fake Nando's and chips.4. Watched 2 episodes of the Crown.5. Managed to get a bike voucher for DD. It lasts for 2 months, so she can book her bike in for service In January.
Have a lovely day 🙂In a world where you can be anything, be kind. (Caroline Flack)
