Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, once I'd managed to doze off.
2) Bigger son did some mountain biking. I won 2 jumpers on Ebay for smaller son, when he starts college.
3) Hens OK and I cleaned their sleeping quarters out.
4) Popped out briefly with smaller son to get milk and bits.
5) Did an absolute mountain of washing up (I only turn the hot water on every 3rd day now so it builds up), load of washing and tidied the garden.
6) Bigger son sold his bike (the tooth destroying bike!) and someone in the US bought it. We've quite enjoyed tracking it over recent days. For some reason, it went to Cambridge, then East Mids airport and is now in New York.
7) Enjoyed GBBO.
8) Bigger son has been given one day of work doing outdoor activity stuff (which is what he did/wants to do). He's going with 2 colleagues made redundant the same time as he was.
9) Solicitor's email arrived about the appeal to get smaller son a pretty good EHCP. I have no idea how a parent is supposed to appeal without professional help; the jargon is ridiculous.11 -
1. Another good day. We had a walk round Ilfracombe. Enjoyed it and going I to little independent shops.
2. Had a walk by the sea. Love being by the sea.
3. Shared a cream tea with DH.
4. Read more of my book.
5. Enjoyed meal with DH11 -
For yesterday,
Tackled Mount Ironmore, might be sad but something so satisfying about getting it done.
Dropped off an old waterproof rug at the yard for girlie to use in today’s rain while I get her regular one clean. She was happily grazing in her field but did come over to the gate to get a carrot.
Met DSIL in cathedral city, we wanted to have a good look around the chazzers but with a limit on customer numbers many were difficult for the both of us to get in, we managed a couple then gave up and had lunch. Lovely catch up.
Mild, sunny afternoon and when we took small dog out for her evening walk there was a tiny crescent of a new moon.
Watched and enjoyed GBBO.

Here we go with another Dollop!
Not quiet Mount Iron!ampersand said:Despite bops 'encouragement':-), will try another, still buoyant🇳🇿🙏♥️🌹.
There. That sore ted! Jenny sends ato the needy, especially this day, those with the hot iron inn there hands! MissLighter. Welkom to the parish!
Let me known your opinion on this!
Now I was at the Docks yesterday, collecting bits and doing mes certs. Problem with the truck at the start! The key not work. Soon hot wired and done! Items dropped off and picked up! Now doings the certs and has mes cuppa Tea and too cakes of Jaffa, but wes nows out of cakes of Jaffa, and only chocklate fingers! BoPsie only get one cake of Jaffa! That is what it is lick bee inn BoP. I decide who gets most cakes of Jaffa!
BoPsie suggested we gets the live steam for the football last eve, with some wobbleades and a pizza! So I herded offs to the A1D! So I gets to the emporium too gots the wobbleades and mes key for BoP wheels, the battery ran out! No problemo, as BoP is super cool! Got it? So cames out of the emporium to putt the wobbleades inn the boot, and offs goes the alarm! Stuffed the boot and locked. Walks back withs me trolley and beep beep beep in the car park! Soon the bizzies, who were inn store weres eyeballing. No problemo, as BoP soon shut mes wheels up! Then I scooped up BoPsie from her Salt Mine!
So we set up too watch the mariners on the big box! Wobbleades and pizza was consumed, with cheeses and nuts! Kitty failed! Poor show, and shoulds I putt her inn too the dog house? Perhaps it was two much for her this weak!
As I is woking at home connected to the Docks, it means that I is able to build up during the weak, an iron mountain for BoPsie! This day I ahs don the socks and me y fronts! All BoPsie has too do is ...
Rite that is all, keep safeI is just a natural at this!

Good afternoon
Though not so good news. We are in tier 3 from Friday midnight. Difficult to find any pleasures there except at least I have D H to share it with. My two best friends, who were both widowed about a year ago, feel very down and lonely.
But for today
Yoga. Very good, very challenging but undoubtedly the last one for a while.
Garden centre for coffee and cake, outside, with friend. As for yoga, but without the challenging! Place was packed. Everybody meeting while we can.
DH has sorted and filled bird and squirrel feeders. Autumn is here officially.
Not much else to say. Trying hard not to sulk. I do still have many blessings to be thankful for but......
Happy drizzly afternoon everyone

So sorry happycas. I dread tier 3 lockdown. Don't always get on brilliantly with sometimes stroppy teen daughter (teen daughter and perimenopausal mother coexisting in same house seems to be recipe for disaster to me anyway but when we add a lockdown onto that!!!!)
Pleasures for me today ...
Walk in the rain with an excitable doggy who made me laugh with her mad doggy racing
Lovely long chat with best friend
Organised collection of textbooks from house tomorrow so no need to lug heavy box to post office and money made will pay for a broken item that had to be replaced (that is two pleasures in one!)
Don't have to cook as leftover takeaway for dinner.

I will not let things slip That Far Again.DundeeDoll - I hesitate to proffer Any Book on grief, but the Virgina Ironside "You'll Get Over It" (honest, v ironic title) book has raised a bunch of flickers of recognition. That she has absolutely no truck with any process is comforting, when some poeople seem to think there should be. (Note it took me 8 months to get to the book.) Ooh peppered mackerel kedgeree - getting hungry just thinking about it! "geese squonking" - that's Exactly their noise! The Talk for the Interview - fingers crossed for you!BoP - when you visit those in need, leave your burdens at the door is sage advice. They'll still be there later, after all. Hand Back &'s machine! Chuckling at your reason for eschewing brandy. I need to learn hotwiring, & to ensure my Scouts do too. Like lockpicking, it's such a useful skill & not Always criminal.Happycas - better to have a lie down post flu-jab now than later without it? Next door's acer is giving lessons to the paint companies. Just lacking in sunlight. Even in Tier 3 there are blessings to be counted, and (with ingenuity) ways to lift spirits without improper risk.mhagster - the dark is definitely drawing in. Enough tips for a new tyre? Cor. What did you reckon to GBBO & "Cornish" food?!mrs motivated - family members back in work is a huge relief.Purple kitten - Stir Up Sunday isn't for another month, is it? (22/11/20) However, well soaked fruit has to be a good idea! Excellent, both jab & supporting local industry! Right with you that when we are allowed, bring on the cabaret and burlesque night. (Meantime, please do not be lured into "cyber" - Arts are wholy worthy in themselves & as needed!)msmatch - be welcome! Some days finding 5 OSP can be done almost before breakfast, others are days where you doggedly get to 4 & the 5th you "bank"... Absolutely feeling like you have a morsel of control, or a route to it, is a major pleasure! Offspring who can cook are a very special pleasure. Pleasures need not be jobs done - good food, good reads, just waving to someone & being acknowledged are all equally valid!Frith - an open cafe! Right with you that some things really cannot be salvaged. Not left the house since March - and so a lovely home made & decorated cake. Tracking bites-bane across the Atlantic - why not?! All strength with ongoing admin skewering the Council to their job.ampersand - Jacinda, and the mighty & worthy spoken Communion. So many gerundives - awed! Seafood & pastis, eh? Hurrah triffids delicious too. Smug barstewardry richly earned!villagelife - Devon & its colours - wonderful. Walking to & from the restaurant - means you can enjoy the food more! I only know Ilfracombe via Agatha Christie - very glad you're enjoying it.LaineyT - raked moss, ergle & bulbs - all those little timebombs of hope! Safety gear is blistering expensive, isn't it. Ah, catching up with DSIL while the opportunity is open - wonderful.VJSmum - not Just Me & DS's room then. I swear he does like clean bedlinen but the steps to that "ah!" appear to have escaped him. Ancestry - I've a "tree" sprawling to over 6000 people - I really need to figure GEDCOM editing tools & chase individual lines better. Addictive doesn't begin to describe it... Little chest of drawers? Just how little? (There is a beauty in the thing that sits in the palm as well as neatly in a corner.)OS Pleasures recentlyI found the chat board for leaders at the jamboree on the Internet. Miword things to cook in mugs, things to make from milk bottles & a stack of online resources which will share the exhaustion of keeping scouts hopping digitally. [Renewed hopes of face to face (as even in T3 schools open) but I’ll seek to maintain a digital program, as the young are young. Not blaming, not pointing fingers, just what they can putter on with kills people.]Have lugged the lad’s PC onto my work desk hoping to share monitor keyboard etc. Not yet working. [Still. Dashit]Listened to husband watching ‘1917’ - he began picking holes in the facts in the first half hour & it was doomed. Visually pretty but factually a mess apparently in order to achieve politically correct status. The Historian was most unimpressed.Racing & Midsomer Murders - I do enjoy a lovely horse & a neat puzzle. The chaps roll their eyes a bit, but if I watch TV there is more broad-band-width For Them...I am Dreadful at cutting hair. Middleson tidied up the clumps I left on Himself with a pretty savage no 3 trim then buzzed himself shorter all over! Pleasure, I won’t be asked again & the hair will grow out back to thatch soon. You know how you can see heads drooping in zoom & teams meetings Sometimes? My father, again, after several verbal nudges over various days. So I burst into “if you’re happy and you know it” but with slightly amended words ending “dear, Chin Up!”... unfortunately when I doodled the Lyrics I realised I’d run to four verses... Plus an encore after a grandchild came downstairs to check I was OK, roaring nursery rhymes at my phone...Neil Oliver star-struck by a ship - it is stunning, but he’s just near-trembling with the awe at the physicality at Roskilde. It’s endearing. Then today we were behind a car plated RH08 ROY!Right, health strength love & courage to all as have need & special strength to all facing up to or eyeing nervously loss - be it of health, work or sunlight.12

Recent pleasures:
lunch at friends - duck pancakes, tiramisu and a bottle of wine! 😊
might count that as 3 as a bit short of others!
finally got flu jab done after a lot of palaver as I’m allergic to the antibiotics in all but one of the formulas!
neighbours baby girl born safely after several days of no news since she went into hospital last week
good night everyone 💤13 -
Late for me but just off phone with friend.
Had back massage this morning, ooh ah ouch and had ‘cupping’ done so now sporting big circle bruises on my back!Went a quick but very soggy doggy walk. Then went to work for 4.5 hours and excellent tips!Home. Hello doggy I’ve missed you.
went a big walk with DD2. Such a beautiful autumnal walk. Colours are just truly fabulous. Met OH best friend when out so chatted to him for ages.Made two pumpkins filled with flowers today, one for work this morning and one for me this evening.I’ve been living my Scottish life for 3 years.12 -
Thanks for the book recommendation dfv I'll look it out. Hope you're doing good xxx
happycas feel for you. We're still allowed to meet one other household in a cafe till 6pm or drink outside with them till 10 (i don't understand that bit at all!) but i feel things closing in again. so for 5 good things- 8am 4 hour workshop with medical school in KL where they are back into lockdown so 19 of us all in our own homes with our home wifi. what could possibly go wrong - boss kept getting kicked out lol. but we got through
- then straight into 1 hour webinar on learning analytics - lots of great questions which meant i got away 15 minutes late which would have been ok except...
- only 10 mins for very quick lunch cos at 1:30
- interview. done, dusted, talk was excellent if i say so myself, questions were stretching but good. i was the last of 3 to be interviewed and 30 minutes later Dean called me to say i got the job. yay!!!!!!
- walked dogs up to mum's to share the news. and have just written my letter of resignation which is the bizarrest letter of resignation cos a) the line management of this role (.5 central) stayed with my boss (who is in the medical school) and i'm actually moving full time back into the school b) my letter of appointment is in my filing cabinet in my office which i haven't been able to access since March c) i can't remember my notice period and don't know who i need to hand that into (see a above) so i've emailed the vice-principal for education for advice though have of course already let my boss know.
