Very windy here.rose arch very full so you can probably guess the result. With it lurching right across the pavement I decided it was time to say farewell
    1) chopping down an established climbing rose is good exercise
    2) it is now all chopped. Half in the car for the dump, other half neatly chopped in front garden
    3) the wind meant the washing dried quickly, 2 loads done (today we are luckier than the oval)
    4) half way through sorting the office. The girls are taking a well earned break
    5) they've gone to buy me 2 folders for cds while I took down the rose. The folders will fit neatly onto the new shelves.

Good morning from very early Sunday morning .

Saturday was a very busy but fulfilled day...no wonder I fell asleep on the sofa!

Up early . It was a very, very wild and windy day yet oddly not cold.

Washings out, ironing done, more washing out.

Friend who did Tupperware party for me last week brought round the goods and a $35 donation for our cause, which I will just pay in to the bank after this.
That was $535 in total. Had a lovely chat with her. We have really met some wonderful people in our time here.

Went for breakfast with DD2 before she had to go to work. Our local cafe was so, so busy. I love watching a good, busy team in action in a cafe and I'm so glad I'm not doing it anymore!

Fridge picked up $40 thank you.

Started 'operation clear out' in the garage, I don't like being in there as there are lots of spidery things. We went through a load of boxes and came to our record/ CD collection ...that hasn't been used in goodness knows how many years. Such memories ! Played the kids some of the tracks from my 80's singles on my phone ...they just looked! I just busted out my dance moves! Good fun.

So piles for our garage sale,( but not the kite *) , piles for recycling, piles for e-cycling, some for the bin but not much, some for salvos. First run done. Trying not to be overly emotional and thinking do I really want it in my house and it's been in here for almost 7 years and I haven't thought about it. Like piles of my 40th birthday cards...really? Read through and recycled!

*The kite ...oh look here's the kite we bought on one of our fabulous French holidays , yet we have not flown a kite since we moved to Australia.
So my overgrown boy said it would be a great day today to fly a kite...so we did. Took Haggis to the park and we had some fun! It's now back in the garage sale box!

We had lunch together just some nice crusty bread and cold meats and coleslaw and it was nice.

Sold a travel dog bed thing that I think we may have used once. Will be picked up on Tuesday at 5.20pm ( oddly a very precise time!)

This selling on FB is mad! Everyone is NIL( next in line) I'm still getting messages about the tumble drier and just woke up to one from someone who asked 'how much' ...it's on the post love and it's sold pending pick up! But if it sells, gets out of my hair , gives us some extra cash then I shall persevere.

Call to sister, call from friend.

DfV - thank you for your kind offer. After a long discussion (and wielding the print out of my X ray), I think we have everyone playing to their strengths. Dad is going to be driver and (non squeamish), the one to sit through the appointment. Mum is going to be the cooker of tea (not a good nurse, easily distracted but practical) then brother will appear to amuse sons and make them go to bed. Just got to make the appointment now...

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Hens well so I sat with them in the (temporary) sunshine for a while.

    3) Tried to finish NVQ. Not far off now.

    4) Smaller son's new PS headphones arrived so finally he can talk to his friends online, instead of just having to listen to them.

    5) Nice omelette for lunch.

    6) Went to see college friend for a cup of tea this afternoon.

    7) Went to parents' for tea.

    8) Enjoyed the one-shot Casualty.

    9) Just come off the phone to my school friend.

Just another few jobs to finish tomorrow then sons will be home - hoorah!
  • 1) Fairly good nights sleep last night, only woke once to very heavy rain hammering on the extension roof but got back off again.

    2) He Who Knows has left for the airport to join DD1 in Norway for a couple of days break, I'm so happy they do this once in a while as it balances DD and my trips to Berlin/Sweden and lets me not feel guilty leaving him.

    3) Planning a big sort through the store room stores while I'm free for a couple of days, some old preserves and pickles will go on the compost heap and the jars be recycled which will help with the general clearing and shedding.

    4) Planning to go right through my wardrobe too as many of the things passed down by DD1 are too big now and need to go to the clothing bank.

    5) Rugby League semi final to watch today, and the prospect of the new Union season at the end of the summer, missing my rugby!

Glad to read that operation tooth is going ahead Frith

    Pleasures for Saturday,

    Had a lie-in until 9am :j

Fresh croissant for breakfast with DM's raspberry jam.

Warning light flashed up on car, checked manual & under bonnet and then drove straight to H*lfords for some coolant as reservoir nearly empty, hope haven't got a leak!

Just got back from evening walk with the girls and the heavens opened, good timing :)

Watched film on tv and indulged ourselves in all things Tolkien, was tired after fighting all those Orcs so straight to bed.

DFV - sorry no recipe for crumble. The proportion of apples and blackberries vary depending on what I have. If blackberries are sweet though no sugar. The crumble topping is butter, flour and white and or brown sugar. I never weigh the ingredients any more so is slightly different every time!!

    1. Had a great time watching an American in Paris. It was a fantastic show.It is one of the best shows I've seen.
At one point thought we wouldn't get there as it took almost an hour to get to the station. A 12 minute drive normally. There was an event in at a local attraction. Good thing we had planned to meet early to have lunch and then a wander around London before the show.

    2. Had enough time for lunch and are in the crypt of (I think it's called) At Martin's church on Trafalgar Square. Lovely lunch and wished we had enough time to look around. My friend paid which was very kind of her.

    3. We managed to walk to the theatre and back to the station . A few difficulties as many of the roads were closed due to the cycling event being held. We both said we love going to London but very pleased to go home at the end of the day.

    4. Had spent the early part of the morning in the garden and did some wedding and had a bonfire. A tree had come down mainly in next doors garden during the thunder storm the other week so burnt all the twigs and small branches.

    5. DS2 arrived back with a friend and wanted a lift into the local town. Thankfully the traffic was ok.

    6. DH went to help DS1 paint which meant i had an evening with no tv and able to read my book.
  • Crumble. 6oz plain flour. 3oz butter. 1oz Demerara sugar. Top that on yours fruit! Got it. I can come round and hand rub it for you, I clipped my claws only yesterday.

5 Food testing carried out last night. Balls of meat in tom sauce served with fries and peas. Obviously this carp food is spiced up with spinach and a dash of chilli. Tum was rubbed and Wobbleades consumed. I don't recommend doing this every week as Raffles, our chief decent food detector was not impressed. Lovely.

4 Was hoping for cricket, but match off. So watched UC instead. That is now an hour of carp from the regressive TV Tax. Avoid.

3 Done the shopping this morn, all inn for £30 and a swipe at the card thing. Crumpets have been purchased to be topped with butter and marmite. Tum will be rubbed later with a cup of cocoa. Strawberries were also bought.

2 Nites tea is Grimsby smoked haddock kedgeree. Served with strawberries and concentrate of lemon in eau de faucet.

obviously this is just an observation!

An all encompassing thank you for your support on here and the "hugs from down under":o

Pleasures for the past few days…
1 Visiting the in laws is always nice and good company.

2 We travelled to pick up our bay win which is brand new never used, what a result for us.:money:

3 We stopped off for me to take in some coast, some amazing blackberry’s but no way of storing them, I’m hoping to blag an hour foraging next week, fingers crossed I know somewhere walking distance from home.

4 Still on track no takeaways and just back in easy pasta bake, and as I am in bizarre hours, Mr T has been giving, bananas at 3p a bunch so I got 3 2 bunches for us 1 for dad for a whole 9p

5 Dad is comfortable, cared for and content enough, with pain relief we can’t ask for more. There is a pleasure for me in writing that and ingraining it. His friend will be visiting and he has a pastor visiting each day. The hospital is 45mins on from work so I will go up after work every other day, and see how things go. As I am a temporary working person I am hoping to keep work plodding on just a little longer, so it will make it easier for me to take a few weeks to spend proper time in a few weeks if that makes sense but day by day for now. I do have a brother he knows what’s what and I am in touch but he is 900miles away for the next few weeks. I am not going to lie I am feeling strained but will see how it goes.
