Flipping heck, Mhags!!
that must have been the last time!!
I had just entered the Great North Run this time in 2011 so i must have been training - an event i said i wanted to do and thoroughly enjoy and never repeat. And i did and i haven't - i did do one run sometime at the start of lockdown and never repeated as i knackered my ankle...
I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Evening all
Five pleasures for Friday:
1. The admin/paper/shredding mountain is a bit smaller (yet again) - sorry, but I think this will be on every post until the end of the year. I'm keeping going with the paper clearout to end all paper clearouts in two different homes until there's nothing more to do.
2. I succumbed to some chocolate (to celebrate my single mindedness in dealing with all that paper. Given quantities of paper, I don't think I should celebrate too often).
3. Sorted out an overdue electricity bill problem. There's lots of pleasure to be had in tackling something that one has been procrastinating over.
4. Being dry and warm indoors with the weather being cold and wet outside.
5. Supportive phone call with DS1.
Sweet dreams

loving the little snippets from 2011 mhags
thank you for the psalm & and also the lovely photograph of the Cam. I have many happy memories from Cambridge, including of course the birth of my 3 lovely children, now 25, 27 and 28
up the mariners indeed bop tomorrow i will be supporting the hatters and sunday the foxes, hopefully that one in the pub
Well i've had an exciting day, starting last night
1) met colleague for supper at 6. it's her first day back in the office, and she's going to do one day a week. we used to go to a hotel overlooking the Tay once a month for a catch-up. Was lovely being back
2) a job came up a couple of weeks ago - would be a promotion - I asked her if anyone of interest had applied then said i was interested - she was thrilled and said was i serious? yes? and emailed the dean there and then!
3) dd2 and i walked the dogs - she wanted something from sainsburys which of course is opposite my local. mr karate was outside having a smoke so i chatted to him. mr geography and he who didn't want coffee (who from now on will be known as Dr No cos that's shorter to type) were watching the Liverpool Arsenal match and invited me in. So i handed dogs to dd2 on her return and watched the rest of the match. mr geography found me a seat with a random following Rangers on his phone.
4) so today i emailed the dean, realised my application had to be in by noon (!), emailed my boss who was out all morning, wrote my application (fortunately only one page plus cv required). managed to shift 10:30 meeting to Monday, got app in at 11:34 as had meeting at 11:35. phew! Boss phoned me at 1 - totally supportive, sees it as a great move. i have now organised 'informal chats' with the dean, the outgoing associate dean and the director of quality assurance next week.
5) finished work at 4:15 to walk boys down to town with dd2 who needed to pick up a prescription in town, then paid in cheque (£48 overpaid to solicitor, unexpected and very welcome), pot of tea at fave coffee shop sitting outside, fish supper on way home, 90 minutes on the piano, 45 minutes yoga, 30 minute walk with the dogs and now in bed with the news quiz.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

MHags - ah, MrN. By that April, he would have been sniffing round his ex wife. He moved her back in at the end of June. I only knew when I saw her through his front window...
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Dentists at 9.30. A cast has been made and the new denture will appear next Friday! Bigger son made them a cake.
3) Hens OK.
4) Horrible rain all day so made some phone calls - tumble dryer man booked in again. 3 emails left with companies for the new Green Grant thingy. Booked 2 days in York in December.
5) Made a casserole then an apple pie for tea.
6) Much TV watching including an Extra Slice and Gogglebox.
7) In bed now and will watch HIGNFY.13 -
1. Sorted out the cupboard under the stairs or at least most of it. Managed to be able to get rid of quite a bit. We are getting rid of it soon so I needed to clear it more.
2. Boiler was serviced and needs a part replacing. We are on a service plan so repair will be £50 instead of £500. It can be used and is being fixed next friday.
3. A couple of text conversations with people kept me smiling
4. All family in and ate at the same time doesn't happen all the time.
5. Watched gardeners world

A very grey day
But we had some lovely sunny days at the caravan this week. We have now shut it down for winter in case of further lockdowns. See you next year, caravan.
Our yoga teacher, who has cancelled all her classes, has introduced us to a yoga teacher friend, so I'm starting a new class on Wednesday. The good news is it's even closer to the garden centre that my friend and I usually go to afterwards for coffee and cake.
Have booked to go to a nearby park's Winter Illuminations in December. As DD says, it might be the only Christmas thing we can do this year. ( if it isn't cancelled, of course). And I got 40% off for registering an interest a while ago.
Looks like a day for sewing, knitting and reading - tho not all at once, perhaps
Happy ☔☔ day everyone

Britain,, the only place inn the world where heating is determined by the calendar and not the temperature. We has ours on 24/7, set by the thermostat. That way no condensate and only £70 a month. Also, you has too run the pump during the summer, run for 10 minutes every first of the odd month. May, July and September. Frees up the pump and the greasy gas man is not given pennies! Bee time soon to lit the pilot on the gas fire!
Bit short, butts keep safe.I think that has them back inn the place?

Well knock me over with a feather !
My pet food shop opens and closes at will. Pot luck if you find it open. Didn't this week so couldn't buy those balls of fat and seeds for the birds. Had a bright idea this morning to lightly butter some soft rolls for them. Went down a treat. Not all was eaten and at around 1pm Flo came for her lunch only to have her nose put out of joint by an adult female fox. Am sure it's the Mum of the wee one we see at night. Very healthy looking. Beautiful tail. She stood and watched me and by the way she did it am sure I have seen her a few times before. Always leaves by the same route. Jumps on the same flower pot and leaps over the fence. Bold as brass.
Flo loudly repeatedly voiced her objections and stood sentinel for a good 10 minutes after fox left. I restored calm with more food.
Et voila !.........................Fabulous...............
xAKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo

Pirate Pete we’ve yet to encounter you in any form !Apart from a very rainy old day it’s been a good day.
Managed a dry doggy walk before the rain started.
Had to pick up mum to go for a medical appointment then we went to supermarket. Her first time in six months! Had to keep reminding her to stay back from others. And she was very slow whilst I thunk most folk just want in and then straight out ( or maybe that’s just me?)
Home briefly then out to meet up with the niecelys for an early birthday celebration of GN ( Monday) went to our local museum. They’ve now got a cafe, so sat there after we’d been round museum. I’d brought a birthday cake (RTC) and did ask if we could have that too. We all had a wee piece and then they took the rest home. Nice to spend time with them. They went on into town but I cam home. Wet doggy walk this time. And hurrah I successfully lit the fire! Well done me. I’m not very good at it but managed today.14
