Hello. I did attempt a post last night but it vanished and that sinking feeling when you’ve written all those words and they disappear!Anyway just for the record:
Friday was busy, much busying around trying to bake and prepare for this catering do.Baked yo-yo ( melting moments) , empire biscuits, little lemon meringue cupcakes and little chocolate cupcakes. Then big cupcakes. And all the faff of waiting till they’re cool enough and the faff of the icing and the putting away in a safe from dog place with a warning to children to do not touch! ( though there were spares)
Did a supermarket run ( and will have to do another one today grrr) stuff for us, stuff for do and stuff for mother.Visited the mother for first time in four weeks. She was very rude to me four weeks ago and I was rather upset ( though as DD2 says she’s always rude) but had ensured that kids were going round to help as needed. DD1 apparently is the best thing since sliced bread as she did this and did that...even though it’s what DD2 and I have been doing for 2 years! Anyway took her shopping in and then did her medication packs and left. Apparently I was faking my limp for her benefit...no actually mother my foot is very sore.Had a very nice lasagne for tea. Then did first dash to event with cakes and flowers. So that’s one load of stuff over. Now need to load car with all the savoury ingredients that I’m making on the premises.Had a nice chat with my Melbourne friend in morning and then was woken through night with a ping from my old main colleague who I’d messaged. I’m currently up to 2014 in re-reading my pleasures form part 2. And I was working most days with her. And found myself thinking of her as I was making brownies and yo-yo s as she loved them both! So sent her a how are you message yesterday.Just taking five minutes to myself before I do a short doggy walk ( with a limp) then gather my things and head out via supermarket ( and not the near one ...that would be too handy) for of all things sausage meat to make sausage rolls. Then pick up friend who I’m doing all this for and then work like a stressed Trojan to get it done and then go aaaaah ( hopefully not aaaargh)
have a great day 😊12 -

Pirate Pete you need to widen your culinary viewpoint . There’s nowt wrong with my lasagne or brownie thank you very much 😀 Busy day . Thankful for pyjamas and a roaring fire, it’s the most ghastly night and that’s it dark at just gone 8pm. Boo. Busy with catering job. Looked nice but I was knackered! I realised I’ve always done it as part of a team! Dry for start of day but cool so washing was dried, then the heaviest rain so I was glad I was in by that time. The new front door making such a difference to keeping the heat in. Doggy snuggles . Son made nachos for tea.12

Pleasures today.
Finding beautiful pictures online for my computer wallpaper. I now have a sunlit forest full of trees in autumn colours to look at.
Hairdresser appointment, always good to get it tidy again.
Finishing my library book while waiting for the colour to develop. Agatha Raisin and the Perfect Paragon by M C Beaton.
Takeaway lunch ordered by son with a £10 off voucher, lasagne and cheesy garlic bread. Home made coffee and walnut cake with cream for afters.
A mid to late afternoon doze, still stuffed from lunch.
Watching Last Night of the Proms followed by some clips from The Two Ronnies so old they had whiskers on.
Now in bed, all animals present and correct. Tabby kitten snuggled right up to me.One life - your life - live it!13 -
1) lovely long sleep - drifted in and out of the today programme but didn't really surface till 9:30 - as mum would say 'you must have needed it' oh i did i did! then got washing on and line-dried, hooray
2) gorgeous morning - walked dd2 to her hoop class which started at 11:30 then back via the park - bilbo found 1/2 a mars bar so was very impressed when he dutifully dropped it (at that point i didn't know what he'd found)
3) lovely afternoon at the botanics with dd2 (stiff from hoop) and gbf. we did the hot house then the temperate house then the garden (dd2 saw the red squirrel but we missed him) then of course the tea rooms for tea and tiffin
4) up to mum's for last night of the proms. lark ascending is one of my faves, and of course lovely to see the piper playing on the banks of the Tay at Dundee, just by the V&A
5) and now match of the day. sorry about the mariners BOP but of course pleased about the hatters. Very exciting Liverpool v Leeds which i've just caught up on on motd.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Eggy bread and banana for breakfast.
3) Hens well. 4 eggs plus raspberries, a few alpine strawberries, courgettes and tomatoes off the allotment.
4) Smaller son on good form so we went to get his feet measured. A very complex operation now involving putting your feet in plastic bags then poking them through a hole in a huge sheet of perspex! Everything to do with smaller son is complex so we had to leave without choosing shoes as it was getting too stressful. (The poor lady suddenly realised that she had been talking at him for ages without any reply apart from his eyes bulging in panic and was very apologetic, though nothing to apologise for). Another problem that I wonder if I should phone the doctor about. One foot has not grown and is still a size 7, though he is 6 foot 2. The other foot is nearly a 9... It seems they do a special scheme where you buy 2 pairs of shoes (little and large sizes) but get a big discount off the second pair. Or we need to find someone with a big left foot and a small right foot to swap shoes with him. I've also noticed his lower legs are speckled with poor circulation since he had sepsis so obviously I am now obsessed with his feet not getting enough blood supply!
5) We popped to Sainsburys afterwards, which is his favourite place.
6) Kept chatting to the estate agent next door during the afternoon who was letting new people look round every half an hour. She had 7 potential buyers. It has a 230 foot long garden (unlike mine) which is what everyone seemed to be after.
7) Took bigger son to his friend's house and my new car is working ok.
8) A tasty tea of Aldi kebabs with cous cous and roast courgette, tomatoes and peppers. Smaller son and I had corn on the cob, as we have front teeth! Raspberries and yoghurt for pudding.
9) Watched Last Night of the Proms.11 -
Okay, am back !
(sorry, haven't caught up on all posts yet but hope you are all well). Will save that pleasure for later.
Had the most wonderful week just child sitting. The pleasure of ' Aunty, can you brush my hair' cannot be measured. The hugs and cuddles were in plentiful supply although all done with care. Covid has really changed so much. Impressed how the girls are so aware and more than willing to sanitise hands and wear masks even though it's not law for their age. School has changed a great deal for them. I think children are more aware/responsible than some adults. Enough said.
I always enjoy the Kent countryside and wildlife. The birds are in tremendous supply although I did miss Flo & Co. And my Tiggy, but that goes without saying. When I got home she went potty (expected) but then piddled on the carpet.........twice ! That was not expected. I hate leaving her. She is now stuck to my side like glue, again expected as she is always like this with me. I did remark once to a vet that I should have called her Shadow and he pointed out how ironic that would be as she is white.
As to my crows. Got up really late this morning, feel absolutely exhausted. First jobs are always Tiggy and the birds. This morning I noticed something again ...............one crow sits on the garage roof and shouts out all sorts of things only known to other crows. Do they have 'look-outs' because within 30 seconds the rest of the party comes swooping in.
Anyway, home to carry on with sorting and throwing. I am terrible hoarder. My brother still happy here. Lots going on there but have to tread carefully and wisely. Small tiny steps.
Have a splendiferous day
