been a long week and still got friday to get through...
1) early starts for virtual conference over, back to workouts this morning - 30 minutes level 5 pilates (i will ache tomorrow!)
2) got a thanks for all you're doing email from the University Secretary. Chuffed!
3)lovely walk with the boys - the trees and hedges are so beautiful this time of year
4) my boss didn't throw one of my ideas out the window so will now draw up some firmer plans, and she loved my other idea
5) bought a bag of chocolate-covered mini oreos to share with dd2 - yummy.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Hens OK.
2) Sold 12 more eggs. The lady opposite left me lots of empty egg boxes (I've been selling them in old takeaway cartons).
3) Went to see a "new" car and paid for it! It is being re-MOTd tomorrow. I went for a little test drive and felt duty bound to reverse it all the way across the (complicated) forecourt and back it into its tiny space between the other cars for sale. They've given me £200 for my old one. (No handbrake, air conditioning, blowers, 2 non working windows, 2 bald tyres and will fail the MOT on everything else). A little rest from Renault Scenics this time.
4) Zoom meeting with the County Council. A new, uber lady appeared to "chair" the meeting and I quite liked all the apologising for smaller son not going to school for 20 months. I also liked the "lesser" ladies stuttering and stalling when asked what they had been doing for months on end (nothing, is the answer to that). They still won't commit to paying for the Special School college but wanted me to say he could go back to his old school! How on earth a 17 year old could somehow join in GCSE classes with 15 year olds, I really don't know. Schools don't work like that! Then they started talking about provision in Warwickshire (we live 500 metres from Shropshire, absolutely nowhere near Warwickshire). I mentioned a lady locally who does online learning and they got very excited about that, forgetting they had said "no" to that when I mentioned it 18 months ago... Anyway, they're going to write to 3 mainstream colleges, asking if they can take smaller son. One of them I went to myself, and it does purely A levels, so that will be a no immediately! (I did tell them that!) They have 15 days to get the answers back from these colleges and sort something out.
5) Did some weeding in the garden and spread the compost round that uphill neighbour gave me yesterday.
6) Gave my room a proper dust, clean and window clean.
7) Bigger son put 2 paintings up on the landing that had been waiting to go up since it was replastered (3 years ago) and they look pretty good.
8) Sons took the drones out for a fly.
9) Bigger son and I did the online pub quiz.
Went to my parents' and again the atmosphere was so hostile and weird that I had to drive away. You'd expect there perhaps to be one abusive person in a trio (that includes my brother, they don't have an extra partner!) but honestly you can no longer pick one out over the others. They criticise and make digs at each other all the time and literally tell each other to sit down/stand up/shut up. My sister and family have stopped going (and said why) so they have decided she is mentally ill. It seems the sanest solution.10 -
1. A phone appointment saved my day. A lady was so appreciative of what I did in the last appointment (my job) that it cheered me up and more than made up for the rest of the moans.
2. Manager spoke with me informally about my flexible working request to say she hasn't forgotten about it. The meeting was postponed as she has been ill and still doing a phased return. She was indicating that she may agree though. It won't be a definite no which is promising.
3. Saw a bird on the road on my way home which wasn't moving very much. Walked down to see if it needed rescuing and it had managed to move off the road and was flying a little bit. It then sounded as if it's Mum was around so I left.
4. Sorted the freezer out - much needed job done. I have started to menu plan too. It is much less stressful having a menu plan and cheaper.
5. Free strawberries and grapes. DH was given them by separate people at work. Both tasty but as grapes have pups in there will be more for me.11 -
Frith spoke to real people, if virtually and long overdue.
Vl - another sort of long overdue, possible progress.
Dd - receives real, actual praise.
Recoveries are steady for several :-)))

Hectic since last post. Huge running around after tip run, but done and person who needed help was eventually helped.
1. Grass mown, many emptyings on compost. Balm for soul. Birds very happy.
2. & happy, watching them being happy, while outside with late brekkie, freshly percolated coffee, last hm seedy bread toasted with hm lemon curd. Birdy tweeting is the only one that interests &:-)
3. Vintage hook for keys finally diy-d to inside of oak back door - had it in mind a month ago. Done:-)
4. During course of long trailer day, dropped off card with h-g fig+port conserve thankyou at rugby club. Coach was there and another unseen for months - more lovely chat. Great fun tournament and hog roast from 15h tomorrow. Sounds terrific.
5. Oldest nthn hemi uni friend's birthday yesterday - managed online greetings in time, outside in dark. Loss of Café Rouge means alternative lunch/munch venue via MrT vouchers must be sought. Initial investigation reveals Zizzi? and some Chef&Brewer hotels....on verra.
Special 6. Scotsdales chap GAVE & piece for outdoor tap Hozelock fitting that has been pesky, broken, irreplaceable for over a year. He said that H deliberately shunt and change and redesign all their connectors - marketing racket - forcing people to buy whole new units, always expensive for what they are - and yellow and grey plastic is what they are, after all.
So, off he went. Back with right piece, gifted from their old spares in the office. Gold dust. He liked being surreptitioous:-) - 'Just tuck it down in your bag. No one needs to see it.'
Said at checkout anyway.
...and only 3 No More Books from their charity shelf:-)

Crikey &, those aren't tomatoes! They're triffids. Ours are bush cherry tomatoes, and it would take 6 of our tomatoes to make one of yours! But I'll try sending hot breaths south 🍅🍅🍅
BoP I love chocolate concrete. I used to have it nearly every day for lunch when I was working. ( I love chocolate brownies too!)
Nothing of any import happening here. DH getting better, slowly and surely. That is a major pleasure.
I walked to the village today. Went to chemist, wearing a mask then went to supermarket, all of 100 yards away, and completely forgot my mask until, 2 aisles in, I saw someone else wearing one. I wonder how long it will take before it becomes second nature to me.
Nearly sunny here but a bit nippy.
Happy Friday everyone12 -
Pleasures today....
Washing done and dried outside just in time, it's now grey and threatening to rain.
Discovering and picking masses of ripe elderberries this morning.
Looking at the bottles of orange brandy and raspberry rum I bottled up yesterday.
Fun session practising some Bollywood dance steps using YouTube. It's my new way of keeping fit.
Working through the first online tutorial in preparation for choir recommencing next week. It is going to sound fantastic.
Planned jobs done for the day, I am now lounging on the sofa with a 6kg ginger cat in my lap. Every home should have one.
Anticipatory pleasure - son visiting friend this evening so the telly will all be mine. One life - your life - live it!13 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)

3) Hens OK.
4) Took bigger son to town to get some potato starch for his recipe this evening.
5) Went to pick up the new car! Its OK so far, though it smells of dog in the back.
6) Bigger son made sweet and sour chicken for tea, in a mood because his new tooth had snapped off.

No work which makes a day better.
1. House much cleaner and tidier. All houseplants watered. Pleasure is that's it's done.
2. Met a friend for lunch. It was her 2nd trip out other than hospital appointments and work on 4 occasions since March. I drive her to a local pub.
3. Food was lovely. Good service. We had a really long chat and it was great to catch up.
All tables were full in the pub but they were properly socially distanced and it felt a very safe environment to be in.
4. Some gardening done. I cut back my lavender plants. It didn't take too long but made a huge difference to how good that area looks.
5. Yea was fish pie from the freezer for DH and DS1 as I had cheese and biscuits.10
