1. A day off which is good - hopefully another holiday booked in place of France
2. Long chats with my neighbour and we had a laugh. At one point we were both crying with laughter. I felt much better after.
3. Text conversations throughout the day with another friend.
4. Went to the local community fridge for the first time. I was very impressed and a bag full of stuff for £5. I did pick up a mango and am going to see if I can dehydrate it. I have both mushrooms and courgettes to dehydrate too.
5. Rugby back and we started with a win. Enjoyed watching with a glass of wine.15 -
Yesterday
Left the damp foggy seaside and headed back home. The further inland we went , the better the weather was. Home was very sunny and warm so two lots of washing done and dried already.
Masses of tomatoes. We have 3 cherry tomato plants, growing outside. Yesterday I picked nearly 3 pounds of very ripe ones which I'll freeze for use in curries, pasta sauce etc. I think there are nearly as many again to pick over the next couple of days. Anyone who comes near is given tomatoes!
Overcast again today, but I suppose that's better for ironing!
Happy Saturday everyone14 -
Recent pleasures:
too hot but now cooler after rain, thunder storms didn’t happen except for an occasional rumble
lazy afternoons after getting a few jobs done in the mornings
Chatty son after a few days spent with friends in Norfolk
OH now enjoys stir fry with noodles!
apple and blackberry sponge made with windfall apples and foraged blackberries yum 😊
Happy weekend to all 😘13 -
For yesterday,
Waking up to cooler weather.
Having the energy and inclination to do the housework, it’s been far too hot to hoover etc so good to get the house done.
Our window cleaner came, much needed after the dust caused by farmer harvesting crop but meant that no excuse not to do indoors now!
Small dog much better so took her for a long walk, found a decent patch of blackberries so will be back this weekend with containers.
Had soaked dried fruit all day and made a tea loaf, despite the intense heat of previous few days there is a definite autumnal feel to the air and it felt right to be making a fruit cake.11 -
Two, strait at it!
Comet Racer, Grosvenor House. DH.88 Comet at the Shuttleworth Collection!
VJ Day. Had Uncle Eric, served RN at Trincomalee in Ceylon 41-46, and two great uncles were POWs. They are still inn Burma.
Was not going too, but well!
At the Met, NYC May 2017! Note wobbleade inn hand! All my own hair!
It has too come!
Wes bin out to source new cat! Details next weak, as the new cat has too settle thirst at the cattery. We should pick up later inn the weak. DD Raffles did his part, not only in saving the Hatters, but relegating the kittens was too much for him. We used as usual the local Cat Leagues of Protection! Please do not ever use the buckface cat people!
Had our usual snorker brakefest today, strange not being interrupted by Raffles halfway through for his pieces! Tea was drinked as well!
Flix watched on the net river thing last night The Escorts aka Amateur Night. Again a bit too much for grandma so caution required. Wobbleades were drinked and cheeses consumed. Nuts were also eaten, but bee car full on these as small children could choke!
We weres out earlier on FryDay, and wanted a chinese for dinner. We don't oftens has the Take away, but they could not take the swish and go card. Tired the app, no. Home to cheese on toast and pennies saved!
Frustrating times!
I thinks we soon see the patter of paws again!

Glad to hear you have found a feline that is willing to own you Blackbeard. You gotta give it to 'em ...........tee;hee
My little fox is quite feisty. It pooped in the water bowl on the table. This I believe is a direct message for me...........forgot to put food out last night. Haven't seen Flo & Co for a few days and am missing her. Think she is as overwhelmed as I am with all the other visiting crows. Want to share this with my brother. He will be fascinated. Am so looking forward to him coming to stay.
Tiggy fine, weather great for me. Balmy (read muggy), light rain but at least it is cool.
A good day wished to all
XAKA : Bala La Boo & Bala Baloo
According to a lovely poster I am Bala the Brave who wrestled a Tiger. You know who you are.....

Hello. Another sunny day here so will need to water the garden soon...kind of got used to the rain doing that.
Didn’t wake up till 8.45am which is very late for me.Went to one of our local castles for lunch which was nice. Sat out in the courtyard. DD1 and I shared afternoon tea, couldn’t quite finish it all. This was in lieu of a graduation lunch! DD1 ( even though she completed the degree part of her course 18 months ago...and as I reminded her ‘Er that’s what New York trip was for!’ Her actual ceremony would have been in May but was obviously postponed and she received her degree in an email.) DD2 had fish and chips but had asked for skinny chips not thick ones. So she got thick so we had to eat some! Then got skinnies! We had a walk round the walled garden which had some fruit trees. Met a friend as they were leaving so had a nice distanced chat with them.DD1 friend ( from Australia but has been in UK almost 2 years) has had her flight home cancelled at last minute three times. She’d given up her flat and job and sent all her stuff home. So she’s staying with us for a couple of weeks. I’d like to think one of my friends would help my girls if they were stuck in a similar situation. She arrived this afternoon. They’re all away to beach...me and my sore foot decided to stay home.Got a support bandage for foot. It’s hardly attractive but hopefully I can get through a shift tomorrow a bit easier.Just nipped out to supermarket to get drinks for work tomorrow ( caffeine free) and got a few things very RTC. Including some lovely flowers.Watching Casualty after a very quick and limpy dog walk.12 -
Quick pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK. Walked there and back and was overcome by heat and was beginning to think perhaps I was ill. Then bigger son came back from his bike ride, also nearly fainting away from the heat, so we reckoned it was the humidity.
3) Bigger son rejigged his CV and started applying for a new job.
4) I did lots of cooking after lunch - a courgette quiche, a fitchet pie and 12 portions of JO's veg chilli for the freezer.
5) My brother dropped round 3 (!) cabbages and a plum pie.
6) Took smaller son out so he could fly his drone.
7) Watched Casualty.
8) Had to go out to pick up bigger son at 12.30am and it has been so long since I've driven in the dark, it felt like an adventure!13 -
For yesterday,
A lazy start to the day followed by our usual Saturday breakfast of boiled eggs with dippy soldiers.
Picked up a few of our windfalls and took them to the yard for the horses, girlie and I went for a walk and I grazed her in hand.
Watched mama blackbird have a bath and then preen herself for ages.
We had drizzly rain on and off all day, grass already picking up, it was so brown and crackly after the recent heat.
Watched the most interesting programme about owls on BBC4, they have always fascinated me since I was a child.13 -
1. Long chat with neighbour as they took their cockerel back. Then emailed council to say that I no longer have the cockerel so the noise complaint against me can be stopped. The cockerel had and the hens do live in agricultural land.
2. Met a friend for sister-in-law it still seems like an adventure to go out.
3. Did some gardening. Spent time moving self seeded plants from top of neighbours garden, who had complained about the cockerel noise, he didn't like me there so played his music loudly.
4. Flying visit from DS2 to have a shower! I do wonder at times whether he still lived here.
5. Went out to pizzas express with DH and DS1. Various friends of DS1 kept coming and talking to us which was good.12
