wow vjsmum seriously impressed. have you read Salt Path? Looking forward to her next book (launch delayed by shh you know what)
frith aw sweetheart puppy
well today was a day to avoid. chucked it with rain nearly the whole day. dogs not impressed
1) so a pleasure not to have to walk to work
2) as spending majority of day going through students' work spent the day on my bed rather than 'at the office'- a change is as good as a rest
3) last of the beetroot and carrot soup - surprisingly delicious. tomorrow's soup is either tomato and orzo or courgette and cashew
4) dd2 is having a nice time with her bf in London - they went to a very posh restaurant in Piccadilly last night to celebrate her getting through 3rd year and him getting a promotion and let's face it, it's not like they've been out for many meals this year!
5) hmm what can i have for #5? well it could be listening to the rain thundering down knowing yesterday I got my laundry washed and line dried, cut my lawn, pruned my rose bush and did my bins (not to mention the mango and raspberry icecream...)

Hello. Been a day of much rain here too DD though did dry up by teatime.Last night we went out for dinner which was lovely but it was late (for me ) by time we finished and after a day at work was very tired so just went straight to bed but didn’t sleep at all well.So a quiet day today. Downstairs tidy.Painted the newly plastered doorway . Two coats and will see if it needs a third in the morning light.
Then I had the most mahoosive snoozette ever! Well past the doggy teatime! And even the rain had stopped! Think I caught up from last night .Made a lovely pasta using up stuff from fridge...that’s a tomorrow job! Sort out fridge contents.Have had heating on last hour or so to try and dry off damp washing and when I came in from last dog walk the room felt warm. Previously heat would have been straight out old door. So that was a hurrah!Picked some flowers from the garden and now in a jam jar looking pretty. Everything’s been a bit battered by rain.15 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Almost a lie in.
2) Phone call from helpful college for autistic people. I can't see that smaller son will ever get the funding for it (lets face it, it has taken 20 months to get precisely nowhere!) Good chat, though.
3) Emailed the usual 3 County Council "workers", MP and solicitor. Actually got a reply, though of course no apology for nothing having been done for another 3 weeks.
4) Hens OK.
5) Bigger son and I went to the local NT place, with sandwiches. Saw my sister driving the other way as she had been to Ludlow, for the first time since March.
6) We went to Ludlow! Straight to Oxfam and a lot of good finds today. I bought 2 badminton racquets (we've been using toy ones for years) for £2. A double duvet set with pheasants and partridge. Bigger son bought a Go Pro in a tough case and, when he looked further, it also had: 3 different covers for the camera, mounts, tripod, clip, 4 (!) batteries, SD card and other bits and pieces. So a lucky find for him.
7) Back home and made 2 curries from the Curry Secret book plus rice. 3 meal's worth of the base sauce is now in the freezer.
8) Drove to see the hens with the Go Pro attached to the roof bars!
9) Cut smaller son's hair. A good 5cm off and that's his 3rd haircut of lockdown! I did do the classic of combing his fringe straight down (it's got a bit of a wave in), cutting it off straight then watching it ping half way up his forehead like a roller blind! Aargh! It is OK overall and the clippers make it easier for the short back and sides.14 -
A good day overall
1. I had my 1:1 with my line manager. Not much achieved with it but my concerns have been raised again. I did mention some of the times that my ex acting line manager has implied that i am lying and told me that I was wrong.
2. Spoke with some lovely patients on the phone.
3. Made an ear saver for DH to wear with his mask. I was pleased with the outcome.
4. Cooked Mexican lasagne for tea. It was good and enough for lunch today.
5. Had a coffee in the garden.
6. Made pickled cherries - now have to leave them a month before trying.14 -
For yesterday,
Another one who had a lot of rain, oh well made me stay inside and do some housework.
Soup for lunch as tad chilly too, 3 bean and tomato from the freezer.
Braved the downpour and visited the farm shop for F&V, a packet of tea cakes jumped into my basket and we had one toasted with butter for afternoon tea.
The rain dried up in time for evening walk and small dog had both humans throwing tennis balls for her so happy girl.
Tested little grey cells watching Uni Challenge and then watched an old 24 hours in A&E, lamps on at 9.15pm, year marching on.

Pleasures yesterday......
I took the car in for its annual service yesterday and had to get two buses back home. The pleasure being that I had only two or three minutes wait for each bus, the fares were reasonable and I had the right change, the buses were modern and clean and service was efficient.
Engineer came and replaced circuit board on dead fridge freezer. I now have proper chilled food storage. I changed the filter cartridge for the water and ice dispenser, and now have freshly chilled and filtered water on tap. The ordinary tap water is fine, but I love the filtered stuff.
Seeing loads of flowers on my two courgette plants. See, swearing at them does help. I see a courgette infestation coming on.
First sweet pea flower appeared. Pale lavender, smells gorgeous.
Reading a library book, one of three picked up from the library on Saturday. Agatha Raisin and The Blood of an Englishman, great fun read.
Planning a shopping trip to restock the freezer, I love food shopping much more than clothes or shoes. I'm weird like that. One life - your life - live it!16 -
Good morning all, pleasures for yesterday....
I have a new exercise buddy - it's the HT who was strangely enthusiastic. I can't see that lasting for long
I can still do sit ups. My new exercise buddy was impressed ha ha.
I went on a small shopping trip and found the liquid hand soap that my friend has been having trouble finding so I bought some for her. Also managed to mostly stick to my list.
Roast dinner...yum.
A quiet evening watching youtube videos and working on my last crochet project

Hello
Huge excitement here this morning. I glanced out of the window while washing up and saw a hedgehog, mouth full of dry leaves, ambling across the garden and then it went under a low growing acer. I shouted for OH to come and we watched while it made 3 or 4 trips. After the last trip , it sort of pulled the acer branches from the inside to hide the hole it had made. Perhaps we'll see baby hedgehogs soon!
Everything else seems a bit mundane after that, so perhaps I'll stop there!
Happy hedgehog day everyone
