Hello. Just been out in garden ( my solar lights had been blown over the fence ) and there’s the most beautiful moon. I don’t remember when I last saw the moon.Been a wet day here though dried up this evening. Soggy doggy walks. My doggy is six years old today! The day after we got permanent residency in Aus and then he was born...we were meant to be .Had a call from mum, she’d been unwell through night ( and I do say please call me regardless of time but she doesn’t) so son and I went round. He loaded a lawnmower in my car then went home. I hoovered, ironed and tidied where I can.Friend popped in. Gave her a bag of home grown spuds.DD2 has soft feet and a good chat.Son made lovely chilli nachos for tea then headed off in a mountainous direction. See ya!A walk with the dog and about a million midges ! Yoiks! Two new babies DFV how lovely. I’m sure they’ll bring much joy to your whole family.15

Congratulation, DfV!
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) A lie in.
2) Hens OK.
3) We popped to see my brother in law and niece to drop off bigger son's bags. (They are going climbing tomorrow but son is cycling there, so better that I drove all the equipment there today).
4) Popped to Lidl.
5) Sorted out existing car insurance. Going to try putting my dad back on my insurance to see if it makes it cheaper. It would be £200 for me, but will be £630 with 2 learner sons on it from next week.
6) Sons went out a couple of times with the drone.
7) After 20 months of waiting, numerous phone calls, over a hundred emails, getting a solicitor and the MP involved... a rather dull little email arrived. An independent special college have a place for smaller son in September, funded by the County Council. All it took was a Zoom meeting and a few phone calls. I cannot fathom why this could not have been done as I requested, last September.
He will be taught 1:1 and they will come to the house at first. They are said to be very good at dealing with children who have had long periods away from school and who are very anxious. (Though every child would have long periods away from school if they depended on our Council's SEND department!!) By law, they have to provide everything recorded in the Educational Psychologist's report. He hasn't had any intervention since he was 9, no speech therapy, no counselling, nothing - I am sure they rue the day they commissioned that report...
Even after this, it is not set in stone. Nevertheless, we have had a look online and they offer the GCSE retakes he wants and have lovely facilities for sports, catering, music, outside studies - and an allotment! They will pretty much offer whatever qualification you want but smaller son did look chuffed when I read out that they do a BTEC in computer animation.
8) Bigger son cooked tea from the Curry Secret book, which was very nice.
9) The cooker/fridge cleaning man is coming next Monday and the shower mending man sometime next week. This will necessitate turning the water off so we pulled out the washing machine (stopc0ck behind) and cleaned out that black hole in readiness. Also fitted a new washing machine filter. Then we started a big clean up, washing the walls down in the kitchen, living room and the stair wall.
10) Made some brownies.
11) Did the virtual pub quiz with bigger son.14 -
Congratulations Frith. Many.
We went through something similar for my brother. Your relief must be palpable.

Some pleasures from me
waking up to DfV post put a smile on my face
last night's moon
my dogs
my garden
last day at work today before four weeks offSpend less now, work less later.16 -
Cranky40 - I wasn't keen on L.A and much preferred San Francisco
DforV - congratulations
Frith - progress at last hopefully they will provide it for younger son
1. Messaged a couple of people today. Good to keep in touch.
2. Work was good as saw a couple of lovely patients who made me smile.
3. Enjoyed my walk and no flying ants to bite me which always helps.
4. Fish and chips in the garden. Really tasty and we all sat and talked.
5. DS2 had put an offer in for a house.15 -
Sunny,sunny day
Dfv - delightful news. Nothing like a new baby to cheer things up. And you have double the delight.
Cranky - I agree with Village Life. LA was not for us. Lots to see and do in San Francisco. We also loved San Diego - lots to do there too but somehow not as touristy.
Frith - phew!! Glad your persistence has paid off at last.
Had a walk to the local shops yesterday. Three different shops and in each one I forgot to put my face mask on. I seemed to have a complete mental blockage, and I don't even mind wearing it that much for short periods. Must try harder.
Lots of lovely cherry tomatoes to pick. Ripening beautifully outdoors. It's been a good summer ( in some ways!)
DH has painted the decking. It looks very smart.
Happy 🌞 day everyone13 -
Many congratulations on two new members of the family DFV.
Some good news at last Frith.
Another vote for San Fran Cranky, drove from Las Vegas across via Sequoia National Park and many other stops, the Pacific Coast Highway is particularly stunning.
For yesterday,
Breakfast in the garden.
It got hot, very hot so probably not the best time to ride my pony but we ambled along under the trees, reins on the buckle and I swear at one point my mare was asleep as her head was nearly touching the ground.
Very late lunch and then a mini nap.
Sitting in the garden and hearing the combine working in a nearby field, such a sound of summer for us.
Too hot to cook so cobbled together a meal from fridge contents.14 -
Cranky - another who says not LA. Hollywood is seedy, the whole place is very sprawly with no clearly defined centre. unless you're hooked on going to Disneyland i'd avoid it. San Francisco is great and so too is San Diego. The pacific coast highway is a great drive however with some really cool places en route. If it's just you and the HT and you're nervous about driving, don't be - i drove my kids around Pennsylvania 8 years ago when OH was unable to join us (long story). I drove 2000 miles and it was absolutely fine. But Memphis is a long way from SF / LA. THere's other places like Tennessee, Georgia, Florida (the keys are great). I personally love Colorado - stunning place.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Finished (again) the corrections - we'll see what the feedback is this time. But it's earned me today off in the sunshine
2. Did a longish bike ride in the lanes and a little into the mountains. Apart from getting stung on my chin, it was great.
3. Still eating the fridge and freezer but i am really liking the food.
4. Joined SiL and her family on the beach for the lovely warm sunset.
5. Good chat with neighbour.
Have a great warm sunny day allI wanna be in the room where it happens15
