Cranky
Ditto to what VJM wrote and all others. Was lucky enough to live in the States for almost a year. Was trying to find a way to describe LA but VJM found the words that I couldn't. It is the lack of definition. Only bothered to visit for a day and had no desire to go back.
San Francisco is another matter. Spent a week there and would go back any time. Much older city, loads to do and because it's hilly it has a very different feel. Fisherman's Wharf, great parks/gardens, museums, Alcatraz etc. Saw some great street performances but that was 26 years ago. I loved New Orleans but have a feeling that it's a city for adults. Again it was a long time ago. Grand Canyon............will never forget it.
May I ask why you have chosen Memphis ?

Just catching up with everyones posts is a pleasure :-)
1 DH and I went out yesterday for the first time since the lockdown began for pleasure, so not a trip for vet/pharmacy or grocery, we went to sit in the garden for a long time with MIL and step dad. We took the scenic route going as well to just enjoy, it was a lovely if warm catch up, we spent a lot longer thee than we planned on. It feels great to have been out.
2 A stunning day, although the pleasure is much along we are inside with air con units running for us and the animals.
3 A lovely dinner planned of a proper butcher chop and cawli.
4 Washing hung out and I suspect dry in 30 mins, bird feeders re stocked and bird water refreshed after seeing them struggle.
5 We’ve found a series we are enjoying spending time relaxing and watching of Lucifer, I’m late to the party I suspect.
We aren’t a full house anymore, strange animal dynamics at the moment as the changes are happening, one was completely unexpected out of the blue, we had to take him as an emergency to the vet and we thought it was a chest infection, instead the tests showed a mass blocking his airway undetectable and inoperable as he wouldn’t have been able to eat or drink after, que crying in a car park thanks to Covid! The other passed in our arms completely naturally it was his time. And for all of them there are just so many amazing memories of his life lived with ours. There are 2 more here at deaths door, thankfully they are happily blundering on at the moment but again we have days. Thou a positive from this is we are at home with time to pamper and play with them.

Hello everyone,
Hugs to you PK.
Thanks for your input folks. I have suggested New Orleans or San Fran to the HT previously so fingers crossed he'll change his mind about LA. Bala, I'd like to see Graceland. I'm more a music fan than an Elvis fan but I'd still like to see it. Also, the HT has a long time gaming buddy who lives close by. If we're going all that way I'd like to think he would at least be able to see her in person.
Yesterday's pleasures....
The HT and I did our exercises together
So far I have managed to feed the HT something different for dinner every evening
I had steak and salad for dinner, yum!
I managed to cut the grass in the back even though it rained over night.
I also managed one of the front borders so the front garden looks much better.
Take care all of you14 -
Feast your eyes on this!
Proper food. Wobbkedes are in the refrigerator. Catch up tomorrow.12 -
I’ve been really busy this week as you can probably guess by the lack of posts, but wow I come back to new babies, the cutest pup and the success of Frith and her son finally getting somewhere....makes my week seem quite boring in comparison.
So pleasures.
1. A day off today and a much needed lie in although I didn’t sleep late, laying naked with the breeze of the fan was just lovely (apologies for any unpleasant mental images I may have just planted)
2. Got up, showered and hit the supermarket, it was very quiet so didn’t take long, stocked up on a few extras to put by for winter or a second wave and local lockdown. Fingers crossed it won’t be necessary but better to be prepared.
3. To hot to walk the dogs, but managed to keep them cool with an old damp tea towel as a kind of cooling down coat.
4. Sat in the shade reading and drinking freshly squeezed orange juice one the rocks...had to drink fast before the ice melted.
5. Veg all doing well in the garden and the strawberry babies coming along nicely....pigeons enjoying the sprouts, definitely investing in some kind of fruit cage but for now a structure with netting will have to do.

Hot potato kind of day here and then an almighty thunder storm! Pleasure was being inside and not outside!DD2 unwell so bang went my day all to myself...though she was in bed for much of day.
Nice doggy walks. Met a neighbour on first walk so wandered back with her chatting.
Moved furniture around. ‘Tis what I do when the notion takes me!Chatted to niece on phone, it’s been a couple of weeks since we spoke other than by text.Another series of Greys Anatomy done...sigh...I’m on the home straight!13 -
Pleasures for today (Friday), though I felt irritated all day. Just the terrible heat and the anti-climax of a half hearted job not quite finished by the County Council!
1) A lie in.
2) Bigger son has been climbing in the Peak District all day and is now staying in his tent overnight. Good to get some drone footage to look at.
3) Hens OK. They have started eating from my hand now.
4) Smaller son's birthday card has arrived (one of those where you chose photos of the person).
5) New shower has arrived!
6) Had a big bathroom clean in readiness for the plumber.
7) Chips from the van for tea.
8) Took the drone out and had a rare go at a silly man. Usually I walk away but this one was such a plank, telling me farmers have the right to shoot drones out of the sky (I wasn't by a farm, btw). Too many know alls!
9) Watered the pots in the garden.
10) In bed and will watch Gardeners World just now.13 -
Cranky
I went to Graceland. My companions didn't want to but I figured when would I be there again. I loved it and was pleasantly surprised. I am an Elvis fan.
At the time New Orleans was bursting with music. It seemed every bar and cafe was open mike............and the voices were amazing. Most anyway. Preservation Hall was fantastic. But this was over 2 decades ago and before Katrina.
Gosh, there is so much fun in just choosing.
Happy days Cranky

3. Long chat with neighbours the other side.
4. BBQ - enjoyable evening
5. DS2 has had offer on a house accepted which is great newx.16
