Hello.DFV I’m glad the tree is finally planted and may there be just the right mix of sunshine and rain to make it thrive.Quiet quiet quiet.Rain rain rain. Like really serious showers ( though currently blue skies after a very heavy downpour)
Pottered around. Decanted flours etc is into glass jars and moved them from my deep baking drawers onto an open shelf .cleaned the top of the extractor fan!
Had a nice tidy kitchen DD2 said I want to make cakes...really? Though she did tidy up afterwards. Cakes look fabby.
Chat to friend on phone.16 -
DforV - lovely post as ever. So glad son's tree is in. We planted a magnolia after our miscarriage (not the same thing, i know). when we moved here we couldn't take it but planted another magnolia. i think it is probably only me who still realises its significance... Was your Trump mimicry Sarah cooper? She is brilliant at it...
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Guilted into visiting mother in law.. always an uncertainty but she behaved and we had a lovely day
2. DS drove - furthest he's driven since lockdown.
3. We walked around a lake near her house (she was in her 'truck' - disability scooter).
4. Back and straight out again to friends' garden for drinks. Good to catch up.
5. DD was fine being left alone (she has been suffering acute anxiety) and made chicken nuggets for tea.
And today
1. Had a bathy with line of duty and a facepack. my face was grateful
2. Bit of gardening - i have actual courgettes growing
3. Watched Hamilton film... fabulous and stressful as ever
4. Steak for tea
5. Will probably watch either an episode of our series or a film later.
Have a woodburning stove man coming tomorrow - exciting.
Have a great evening all
I wanna be in the room where it happens16 -
Boiler playing up (800 pound estimate)
Drains (main) seem to be blocked. We don't use anything like wet wipes but perhaps someone in the street. Phone calls to be made first thing. Earache back.
However...............
a beautiful sunny day
Flo the crow
Tiggy
A good laugh with my closest cousin.
Delivery arrived. Freezer now fullish.
Made a lovely meal with a Magnum for afters. I could not live without ice-cream or my favorite tea to drink.
I still have my cherries to look forward to. Have tried one.............really lovely.
Good night all

That is good news about your son's tree, DfV. That'll look good in the spring and be in flower while we're waiting for everything else.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) A lie in.
2) Pictures by email of my new cousin (now 3 months old).
3) Started sanding the door to the larder. Its been on my to do list since I moved here (in 1999!) Like much of the woodwork of my house back then, it is painted in bright orange varnish. (The bits that weren't painted with orange varnish, like many, many ceiling beams, were painted in thick black gloss paint...)
4) Bigger son went out to beat his cycling times and for battenburg cake. He came off his bike on the way home and has just nicked his hand, elbow and chest. His pride was hurt enough that he went to bed.
5) Made chicken tikka wraps for tea.
6) Watched the Alex Brooker documentary.16 -
Good to hear about your son’s tree Frith, sending hopes for all it needs to thrive x
For yesterday,
Giving up on a rubbish nights sleep and coming downstairs early for a cup of tea with small dog cuddles,
A quiet, peaceful day at home, the weather was windy but fine so a great deal of it was spent in the garden.
Tackling the climbing rose by dead heading and tying in, planted up yet more salad seeds and harvested carrots which we enjoyed with our lunch, there is something so satisfying about digging food up and eating within an hour.
Waking up from afternoon snooze to a spaniel’s face two inches away from mine, apparently she had been like that for a while, obviously willing me to wake up!
Late night wander around garden and seeing the beautiful full moon.

1) dd2 is finding lockdown tough and has coursework deadlines - bought her a bunch of yellow roses (her fave colour for flowers) and they are sitting in her fave blue jug - making her happy is mse#1
2) having both watched les blancs (NT live - very powerful) gbf phoned to discuss - i asked him if he'd rather come round walk the dogs and discuss - he did so that was mse#2
3) dodgy workmen left a very good saw (still waiting for their overpriced quote in an email as requested - thinking i won't hear it!) so used that to chop back tree fuchsia next to the building for now appointed workmen who start tomorrow) so progress on the garden is mse#3
4) a whatsapp chat with dd1 who's now been in Rotterdam for 6 months - mse#4
5) finished the day with Bach, Chopin and a final walk with the boys - mse#5 - the piano (a Yamaha grand) is my pride and joy - my xoh encouraged me to buy it using all our savings at the time - although the end of our marriage wasn't so good she was very good for me. (i would never have done a masters let alone a phd without her encouragement)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures yesterday -
- some warm sunshine amidst the strong 40+mph winds.
- a successful take on Thai green chicken curry for lunch.
- hearing my stepmum is feeling brighter after being discharged from hospital a few days ago. Still facial pain from the shingles though, but she sounds more like her old self.
- two lovely homemade loaves of bread from the breadmaker. I find if I make the dough in the bread maker and divide it into two loaves and bake in the oven, the loaves are a more manageable size for our small household.
- last ever Keep Britain Singing session on Rock Choir FB page yesterday, hosted by my choir leader. He did a poignant rendition of Something (The Beatles), a real goosebumps event. You can find it on Rock Choir's FB page, also on You Tube, it's around 20 minutes or so and includes a fab Beatles medley singing warmup you can have a go at.
- as ever, the comforting witterings of online friends in this strange era in which we live. One life - your life - live it!13 -
Suffolk Sue..................sending you the largest warmest hug.

As a minder to DfV I hope it had a squirty egg! A Banjo is a sarnie in the forces. Bacon and Egg Banjo is a delicacy to be proud of. Hence the squirty egg! Here is one I wolfed down earlier!
Alas DD I blame Raffles!
too the needed.
Now with another dollop of BoP
Was across the road on SatDay, well distanced. Had pizza and wobbleades. Quite good and good to be out. Not bin inn town, but the good Thai has closed. Their lease was up and do you blame him!
Sorted the camera out, so hope to get out shortly with that. The remote seems to work on it, so we will see!
Ran out of films, so we watched the Grand Tour and the last Space Force, well fifteen minutes to go. Cocoa and Crumpets were imbibed.
Groomed me goatee and had wetted me razor last day. Was bit short on the goatee as the strimmer was running now and we don't.
Raffles who failed us all last weakened, is suggesting there is no BBQ for this weak! He is not getting treats at the moment, so I hope he not in a sulk!
Bit slow over the weakened. Hope all tees are good and all are safe.
That is your dollops tooday
Is that what you see?

thank you Bala ,much needed here at the moment .
We have been offered a weeks respite care at the hospice ,DH really doesn’t want to go ,v upset ,I am aware I need a break BUT a year ago I promised him he would die at home ,my gut feeling is that it is getting nearer and not sure how I’d feel if it happened while he was in ,they’ve only just reopened and I would only be allowed to visit for an hour a day and our son wouldn’t be .
Ive discussed it with DS and we think we will put it of until after our 49 th wedding anniversary on 24/7 ,if DH makes It to then ,then he deserves to have it at home ,by then visiting might n
be more relaxed .
anyway pleasures
1 The offer Above
2 a son to discuss things with I feel for him especially as his FIL is becoming more confused etc
3 Car serviced with no problems
4my gardener
5 our wonderful specialist nurse and hospice nurse (who remembers my daughter)
6 all the support from you .i am reading if not posting much15
