:hello: DSL & Busy Me, lovely to have you pop in to say hi. It will all be fine in the end. After all, it's only money, which I know is easy to say when you have it. I am grateful that I am a tightwad most of the time. February is going to be expensive. Woodworm, the balance on the bedroom blinds and some decorating time and stuff to pay for. But, the flip side of it should be that, were we to sell, we'd get more money for the house, therefore increasing the equity.
Hubby thinks there is going to be a post brexit housing market crash, so he doesn't want to even think about moving.
I can't believe I thought yesterday was the end of January. It's a whole day longer!! I did all the end of the month financials I could think of and now I just have to wait for the start of the month shinanigans tomorrow and wait excitedly for the mortgage interest to hit so I know where I stand.
The water bill for 2019-20 arrived yesterday, increased by £10, shame it's not like the insurance companies where you can ring up and get a discount. I do pay it annually, but the money won't come out of the bank until August. I've scheduled the transaction in YNAB and the money is already sitting there, I just want it paid. I might log onto the website and see if I can make a credit card payment then at least I'd get some Points.
Yesterday was a nsd, not sure about today, I've got a work meeting in town, work will pay expenses. If I'm good I should take a thermos with a drink, but it does feel like a treaty day. Will see what free cash I can muster.
Right 'suns up' on Pickle's clock so I'd better go and get him.
Wish.

A nsd on personal spends today. (Tram fare to get into the city covered by expenses)
Everything ready for the first of the month and the mop pot will stand at around £50 once all the first of the month direct debits have been Tilly tidied.
So: what does February hold??
Next week is woodworm eradication week, so close to £1k will exit the bank by the end of the week.
The following week we are all heading to the big smile for a family holiday/working week for me, followed by a long weekend at a friend's house. So, travel costs on expenses, accommodation with incredibly generous family and a week's saving on groceries. The weekend with friends may be a bit costly, but not extortionate. (Decorator coming in while we are away so £500-£600 to pay there)
Half term week, Pickle at the Childminder's for 2 days, 1 day at least on an adventure with a friend.
Then a weekend at my parent's house for nephew's birthday.
So, it's looking like an expensive month for capital expenditures, but should (haha!) be a reasonable week month for day to day spends.

Quick update as I've just spent 5 mins doing first of the month money shuffles.
No mortgage interest added yet, but I think it will be by the end of the day, maybe even by the opening of business.

not a nsd as hubby asked me to pick up a couple of bits for the woodworm eradication prep, but that did mean a little Tilly tidy.
Most of the easy wins for Tilly tidies are now over, just the landline/internet bill to be generated then it's onto the hard graft of the month bank accounts and rewards have been added (I may have some tsb rewards still to come, but I think that deal may be coming to an end soon, at which point I'll just keep the £1500 in there that will earn interest.)
Tomorrow is the last day before the work is done to the house, I may spend money just to deal with my anxiety over it all.

Still on 1 nsd for February, today we had to pay for the woodworm and damp work. All I keep saying is, 'it could have been worse'
Tomorrow we need to go into the house clean, sort and put back. Not really looking forward to that.

Woodworm work is done. We can get into Bed and have a shower, house still in uproar. Decorator coming tomorrow to discuss jobs for next week, some meaty jobs, some faffy jobs. More money, further away from mortgage neutrally, but I will have a lovely house. We will have to move to get the third bedroom we really do need. But hubby needs to come to that conclusion himself. In the meantime, plodding on with all the jobs. Currently our bedroom is half done and the living room and dining room are about
To be done (bedroom got put on hold due to the discovery of the woodworm.) that means we will be at the point where we only have the kitchen left to do. Will need to save up for that, or move and let new owners put their own stamp on the space.
Not a nsd as I did the weekly shop. We ended up in Ald1 twice. Hubby went first to get lunch stuff (£11.60 including some hideous smelling reed diffuser thing) I then went back to get the evening meal stuff for the rest of the week £10.55. Go figure!

don't throw me out of the mse club for spending money.
£10 to get clothes dried at the laundrette
£7 football snacks (cheaper than the takeaway hubby suggested)
£160 for a dehumidifier - essential to keep the damp at bay
£200 deposit for the decorator
£60 balance for the blinds being fitted tomorrow.

Hi Wish, I came to read your diary after reading DrSpendLittles recommendation.
We have an old damp house, and swear by the dehumidifier. Money well spent as it takes the cold away without paying for expensive heat.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
