First of the month dd have gone out and, for once, the mortgage interest is already showing so, here are my targets for the month.
I've just checked the council website too, they have published their 2019-2020 council tax bill. I've oversaved £300 plus shrapnel, so £300 into savings (to be spent on plastering) and the shrapnel to the mop pot hooorayyyyy
MSE March Goals
1) Mop Pot £280.42
Mortgage interest £51.16/£51.16 :j
Nice round number £29.26/£29.26
£400 capital reduction £4.21/£100
Mfw 2019 target £69.58
Nice round number £30.42
2) No savings target this month due to work being done, but will track costs here.

You are doing great Wishing. The work on the house is annoying but one of those necessities. You have done really well to fund it...this could have been a disaster if you hadnt got yourself into such a good financial place x0

I get your point, but I still resent taking money out of the emergency fund  Like you I try and cash flow stuff instead.
Great progress, and sensible investment of cashflow rather than general fritter and the purchase of transient tat.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Thank you Busy, you are right. It could be sooooo much worse. Having to rely on family, credit etc. We aren't really changing our everyday lifestyle really either. Ynab helps me segregate all our spending, so coffee with friends can still happen Becuase it's from a different pot (although I am being careful)Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Thanks Red.
I wish I could cashflow the lot and still be saving, but hey, life doesn't work like that does it?
Last month I hadn't actually touched the money labelled in YNAB as 'emergency fund' (probably will this month though) it came from other pots, which roughly break down into 'ones for emergencies' and 'money to move house'.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Yesterday was a nsd - which always seems to be the way I start the month and then I get distracted and don't carry them on. Never mind. I do consider NSDs more of a game than a necessity though, so it's just a bit of fun for my competitive nature.
More direct debits have gone out today and I've looked at my subscriptions for the month, how often each one will come out and managed to transfer some surplus to the mop pot - which I think is looking quite healthy at the moment. I know it gets a big boost at the beginning of the month and then it's slow going with the odd few pennies here and there until the end of the month, but I'm still pleased.
Not a lot planned for today, but no idea on the spending situation.
Have a good weekend.
Wish.

Quick check in to say last two days have been NSDs and I had two days where I only spent on expenses. So 4 days to add to total. Tilly tidies have been regularly done and no spends on house stuff as yet.
Council tax bill arrived, I've got the cash to pay it, but resent some of the increases. Grrrrr

Another nsd today, not even any bank account movement so no Tilly tidies either. Oh well. Every little helps.

ok I keep going AWOL, need to make more effort as I'm a much better mfwer when I post.
Currently enjoying a long weekend at my parents as the downstairs of the house is being plastered (have paid £150 deposit for this). Pickle is not sleeping well here, so it's a mixed blessing with regards to being away from the mess/plastering with not getting enough sleep.
I've done 1.5 days of supply teaching in the past couple of weeks. The 1 day has been paid, the half day will be paid on Friday. I've said I'm available for 2 days this week, but not had a booking yet. Every little helps towards stemming the flow of money out at the moment.
I've not got any overtime or expenses from my main job this month, so will be paid my basic salary on Thursday, this still adds £200 to this month's renovation money and £100 into April's.
I've got 7 days to add to my nsd total, so not far off achieving my target for this month.
I've been keeping up the Tilly Tidies for the mortgage so that's not looking too bad. The '£400 capital reduction' target looks achievable, but the next £100 may not happen. It depends what the final plastering bill is really.
The interest on my isa paid last week, less than £50, but better than nothing. The bonus has ended on the tsb current account I opened last year. So, I need to find a good current account switch to do. Anyone with any suggestions?
The mortgage currently stands at £27,500, I should be able to pay another £100 off in March, then aim for £400 in April (inc standard payment) meaning we are heading into May in the 26's. Can't wait!
Wish.

Plasterer has finished and her bill has been paid. Add to this that my credit card bill is large this month as the car insurance is on there from last month (pif credit card, used to get lots of lovely reward points) I thought I'd have to take cash out of the isa to cover the plastering money. But, although it will be a bit tight, I don't think I'm going to need to at the moment.
Ynab is up to date. No money in the spends pots and I've had to wam from the mop pot - but I have managed to pay a £1300 plastering bill in cash, without blinking too much.
