A nsd today, so I've at least met one of my targets for the month.
That's all I've got to say really. I think I'm going for to take myself off to bed to watch series 2 of 'the good fight' which I realised the other day I haven't seen and series 3 has started.
Not much planned for the weekend. (I'm hoping hubby will book the fireplace installation.
Have a good weekend.
Wish.

A new month, a new start. March was tight, the plastering has really drained my 'on hand' cash. (And I paid the council tax for the year) I managed to not touch the money in the isa, but I'm not sure I will make it through April in the same way - the line rental saver for the phone line is due this month. I have enough cash for my everyday spends, so let's hope there is nothing too disastrous this month.
Hubby is in the process of sorting the fireplaces in the living room & dining room. He's going to pay for those from his savings account. I will then pay for the chimney breasts to be plastered, this may be April, might push into May.
Ideally I'd like to get the mortgage down to £27k by the end of the month. That's an op of £230 plus the interest for March which hasn't yet been applied. It depends on work expenses and any supply work really.
I'll pop back with April's targets later, I'm hoping the mortgage bank will apply the interest at some point today.

Yesterday: a nsd (1/15) mortgage interest added and immediately overpaid by the same amount, plus a bit. Daily interest £1.60 (I think)
No idea what my money saving/spending target should be this month. Think I need to concentrate on the mop pot as house jobs are a bit of an unknown.
Here we go....

A nsd and lots and lots of housework jobs done. In fact, I've been so productive I can have a day to myself tomorrow. I'm going to write a short 'to do' list, maybe for a couple of hours worth then I may go and do something for me. No idea what though. One of my friends is off work this week, so may see if she has plans.
Mop pot increase is due to some variable bills being generated today. As usual, for the 3rd of the month. All the low hanging mop pot fruit has been plucked and now it's the hard graft for the next 28 days. I have been booked for some supply a week on Tuesday though, so that's about £100 in the pots.

Two NSDs in a row for me, but some joint account transactions popped up from another day where husband is trying to derail all of my financial prudencey. Good job its the start of the month and I've been able to absorb it reasonably well. I don't have some cash in my purse which will keep me going for a couple of days at least. Mop pot creeping up slowly, could do with some injection of cash, so I might start doing some surveys again to see if I can help it on it's way. Happy weekend everyone.
Oh, in house news: hubby has laid the flooring in the hallway today, but he's made a rubbish job of the bead edging round the door frames. Need to research some flexible stuff and change it when he's away.
I'm beginning to think I'm not going to want to move when we've finished this round of work. But, we still don't have a third bedroom. Urgh! Such a nightmare.

Another nsd for me today. (Wish hubby would stop spending though!!!)
We swerved the coffee shop at the nt place today, so huge saving made there. I've done a little Tilly tidy to keep things moving in the correct direction for the end of the month targets.
Sourdough to make tonight (just bake really) and a bit of tidying up. I'm working tomorrow, 75 miles away, but not an early start, so not too bad.
Have a good week.
Wish.

Does Hubby share your enthusiasm for paying off the mortgage early or are you doing all the sacrificing?
Hope the house is looking nice now you've done the redecoration!

Hi DSL he does, but not in the 'lots of tiny steps add up' and competitive approach I have. He's quite happy to pay off a set amount each month and leave it there. So, the first two of my mini targets (interest added and nice round number) is sufficient for him, he's then throw any 'left over at the end of the month' shrapnel in. But we all know that that never happens. MSE is not his tribe.
The spends I'm not particularly happy coming out of the joint spending money is his alcohol for his work trip away from tomorrow, the beer isn't too bad, but he never buys an average bottle of whiskey!
Oh well, it's only cash and he's usually good, we're all allowed a little blip.
With regards the decoration still sooooooo far to go. Bare plaster walls and unfinished fireplaces abound. But, we will get there.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

Quick pop in to say it's child benefit day, so that's been allocated, including the £2.80 Tilly tidy to the mop pot, lovingly referred to as 'Pickle's rent '
Have a good day

Sounds like you have a great team mentality, Wish! I have the same grumbles about beer with my DF, but as you say, it's only money.
I'm sure the house will look lovely when you get all the decorating done. It will all be worth it!0
