Cheap Car Hire: Slash £100s in hire and insurance costs

this doesnt cover the insurances you need just the excesses, you need to pay CDW etc any way.Check the cost you would pay compared with the cost of a policy from Insurance4carhire.
It can be cheaper to buy through one of the brokers rather than through the travel co like airtours or at the site. You often pay less as a total then just the insurance. try fifteen02.com or usrentacar, both have free upgrades and no excesses though often you arent covered for the likes of undercarriage damage but realistically when are you going to get that. I checked with fifteen02 last week and there were no excesses on their cars.0 -
I don't think it has been mentioned but http://www.worldwideinsure.com do daily excess insurance from £1.90 per daySomething Really Interesting0

Im considering hiring a car from malaga airport at the end of july for a week with my 13yr old daughter so we only need a small car!
The questions i have are - which companies bus you out to collect the car and which are on-site at the airport, can i get insurance in the uk for wheels and windows, many companies i have looked at state a 'full out, empty return' policy on fuel but im concerned i will pay a premium for their petrol prices and finally...............who offers the best deals at the moment?
many thanks

We got a good deal with 1car1 at Stanstead in June, £90 for just over a week, for an Astra, we had already paid £24 for extra insurance with Questor. 1car1 pick you up and take you to their nearby depot where your car is ready. They note the fuel reading and check you leave the same when you return the car, so no rip off there. No connection just a satisfied customer. Wish I could get a deal like that when we go to Bournemouth in 10 days. Best is still £133 Hertz for 5 days, but we arrive Sat evening and no-one else is open!0

Thank you. To organise a car hire package separately that includes insurance is definitely the cheaper option.0 -
Hi
Does anyone know of any companies that you can hire a car from with a VISA DEBIT CARD as all the ones i've looked at require a credit card, which i am no longer entitled to have?(bankruptcy)
Thanks in advance for any advise given0 -
[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]We have just been informed that from 1st October 2008 Orlando International Airport will be implementing a Customer Facility Charge. All clients collecting cars from On Airport rental desks will incur a charge locally at the time of collection.
The cost of the charge will be $2.50 plus tax for each day of the car rental to a maximum of $12.50 plus tax.
This charge has been implemented by Orlando International Airport NOT by
the car rental companies and affects all car hire companies.
anyone want to quote on this bearing in mind I have already paid in full

Hi all
i am wanting to hire a car in france in 3 weeks time, but all the hire companys take a creditcard swipe when you pick up the car, to get excess/fuel charge etc if you crash it, or dont return it with fuel.
most companys terms and cond's say something like - "they will "block" an amount on your card equivelent to the excess and a couple of tanks of fuel." this comes to about 600pound at the cheapest.
now i know they dont actually take the money off the card, but does this mean my card still has to have that amount of credit available.
my only credit card has a 500 pound limit, which i cant increase, and is paying for my day to day costs while there!0 -
Hi.
Thanks for the useful article on car hire. Using car4lessholidayautos got an economy car for 5 days in France for £143 instead of about £280 via Hertz/Ryanair.
Even despite the very helpful article still fairly confused!
The complete waiver via that the hire company came in was £22 vs about £18/19 with Questor/Dailyexcess etc. Ours doesn't cover the underside
(doesn't exclude it in T&Cs but that's what they are saying on the phone) . However Questor/Dailyexcess etc all seem to be underwritten by AIG and seem to limit to £2000 or £3000 which wouldn't be enough for a write off. Also Questor etc seem to cover the policy holder only and not 2 drivers unless you pay for another policy. So balancing that all up went with holidayautos own.
So far so good.
BUT third party liability doesn't seem to be covered.
It says it is under T&Cs but 2 operators we've spoken too say that that is just the other person's car not injury/death. My own holiday insurance doesn't cover it. Questor etc don't cover that either.
Will this be offered at the car hire? Will it be massively expensive?
Are the operators wrong??
Don't really fancy the fingers crossed option in a foreign country not speaking the language!!
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks very much in advance0
