i can advise that the chrysler 300 would be nowhere big enough as the trunk wouldn't take half your luggage ....it would be uncomfortable for 3 adults in the back.
the grand caravan is designed to have extra room at the back to fit more in the 'trunk' (the space behind the rear seats) again if it's just a bog standard caravan you definitely won't have the room.
a cadillac or town car (luxury group) might have enough space in the trunk ....i had a ford five hundred a couple of years back which would have swallowed your luggage.
you might want to think about mixing and matching your luggage (some cases and some holdalls to help fit stuff in )
it's a right pain trying to work out exactly what's right when you are touring .

A good company to try for car hire are at Malaga aiport are Señorita Golf. They offer independant car hire as a broker and allow you to pay into a UK bank account which can be helpful. Then all you would need at the airport is your credit card for fuel ( half tank at cost not full tank at rip off prices!!) and security against damage to windows and tyres.

For insurance the car hire company they use offer fully inclusive insurance with no excess. You would have to pay for any damage to windows and tyres which are standard with all companies but you can pay an insurance premium of around 3 euros per day for the duration of your stay. A example of the price of a ford focus for your family for the duration of your stay would cost 261 euros or around £208 at current exchange rates on a standard flight time, exlcuding windows/tyre cover.

If you travel more than once a year abroad and hire a care you may wish to look at taking a policy out with insurance4hire which are an excellent company. Cost the both up and see where it comes out.

Please note I do have a business interest in this company. On this website I offer independant advise as do all other members and at times this may cross over into my own business interest. I always try to keep my advise impartial, honest and correct.

I'm having some difficulty getting a car in Cuba for 9 days from July 20th.

    Any advice gratefully received.

At present we have an expensive Audi A4 reserved to pick up in Havana (airport) and drop off in Jibacoa on 29th. We need a car for 5 (to hold luggage for 4), but don't intend driving more than about 400 miles in total.
  • I have a dilemma - we have booked a package holiday with Airtours that includes car hire. We have to pay extra for insurance - should we pre-book with travel company before we leave, or book when we arrive in Orlando? Does anyone know which is best re cost?

How can I get a discount with Hertz in UK. We arrive at Bournemouth Airport on Sat 1805 and all the hire places are closed but Hertz have an arrangement with Ryanair to hire cars out of normal hours. But it costs £133 for 5 days for a Focus. Last time I paid £90 for 7 days to 1car1. So any way to reduce Hertz cost?

Check the cost you would pay compared with the cost of a policy from Insurance4carhire.
  • Thank you LesD - I am on the case.

    Can anybody please help me?
I hired a car last Friday and returned it on the Saturday to Alamo in London.
The branch was closed when I arrived so I left the car on the forecourt, and didn't fill it up with petrol. There was only a quarter tank left.

Instead of charging me for the 3/4 of the tank remaining, they have charged me for the full tank, and to make matters worse, at a rate of £1.85 per litre!!!
This has totalled at £120 inc. VAT, which is ludicrous.

surely this is illegal? Are they even allowed to perform such blatant extortion?>
    WHat should I do?
Thanks to anybody who can help

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that they can. :( I hired a car this past weekend and went out of my way to make sure that I filled it up before I returned it as I've read in the past about their 'own' fuel charges.
