Cheap Car Hire: Slash £100s in hire and insurance costs

We have a villa in Conil, Spain which we visit regularly. We take 3 adults and 3 children so with car booster seats we cannot manage with a single car. In the past I have sometimes managed to get a full-full petrol policy as we only tend to use about a third of a tank of petrol for the week we are there. I have searched today and cannot find any which do this now. That means we pay for 2 tanks of petrol and they get back 2/3 in each. I have looked at people carriers but they are 3 to 4 times the cost of a normal car (why?).
The sort of car we usually have is a Peugeot 207 or similar (X").
Does anyone know a car hire firm or broker that operates a full-full petrol policy still? Thank you.0 -

Anyone that uses Record Rentacar - they use the 'bring it back with the same as you picked it up' fuel policy, which is effectively the same as full/full.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
Does anyone have any experience of Xtrarentacar, based in Santa Pola, Costa Blanca. Are they competitive and reliable? I have sent them a few email enquiries and they are always helpful and chatty (of course they want my business!)0

Is it cheaper to rent a car online before going on holiday or to rent one in the country you are visiting? I'm going to Portugal in July this year and am looking at nearly £200 for 2 weeks rental. Does anyone know the prices of local car hires around Faro Airport??0

I travel a lot to the US (5/6 times a year) and have been using the hertz UK site to book which includes insurance (with a £0 excess which isn't actually that expensive, comparatively speaking), but now I'm thinking there's probably a cheaper way to do it.
Can you buy an annual policy to cover insurance on car hire that would negate the need for any insurance at the hire company (ie: CDW)? I have annual multi trip insurance with STA (which I've now realised I could probably have gotten elsewhere for less) but so far as I can tell that doesn't cover anything car hire related.0 -

Insurance 4 carhire is what you want.
There's 20% discount through Quidco too.0 -
I thought that only covers the excess on a CDW policy that you purchase from the hire company?0

Martin's article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/travel/cheap-car-hire#finesse statesCar Hire for under 25s ..in the US.. Transhire waives this fee for one driver.
But Transhire is a reseller - I looked for a car in San Fransisco - only Alamo was quoted and their T&Cs are

I'm needing to book a car for a week in July in Majorca. The best deal i've found is on Carhiremarket.com. Does anyone know if this website is any good. We booked last year with Hertz but the prices are so high this year!
Do you know what i'm needing to be included?
With this one it includes:
Air conditioning
Unlimited mileage
Location service charge
Supplement liability insurance
Collision damage waiver
Theft protection
No excess
Personal accident insurance
I'm a bit lost as to what insurances we need. Can anyone shed any light?
I could really do with the help.
Thanks in advance. xxx0
