Currently debating moving over from PlusNet who I have been with for 6 years, only trouble is I have my landline with them so need to find a provider. Debating switching back to BT with their anytime package with first 3 Months free.

Just got to debate which package and QuidCo has been reduced to £25

Well it would seem that I'm here.

Setting it up was childs play,however my speed is only at 3 meg,despite paying for the 16 meg,but I'll wait until it has settled down,before ringing them.

At least it is twice as fast as before,and I'm only paying half the price,so it's a start.

what are teh stats in the router i.e SNR/Attenuation? and what were they on your previous provider. If you are a way from your telephone exchange you won't ever get near the quoted figures, the further you go the slower it will get

Anyone know if O2 use traffic shaping measures like Tiscali and Virgin?

Well mine is still slow ken... but it is faster than my 1meg tiscali..

as others point out it depends on how close you are to the exchange..

Just switched to o2 today (from F2S) on the 8Mb package. I'm getting more than 6Mbps at the moment, and I used to pay twice as much for 2Mbps, so I'm very happy with it so far.

I requested my MAC Code from PlusNet to move to O2, anyway to cut a long story short PlusNet have matched the O2 deal (£7.50/Mth) with what I am on now so up to 8Mb with a 8GB Download Limit which I don't use normally around the 6GB mark. So looks like I will be staying with my existing ISP.

It's obviously worth a chat with your existing ISP to see if they can do anything to match or come close to O2..
