Ryanair sits hen party in FIFTEEN separate rows as outrage over seating policy grows

OurCan you imagine going to a restaurant and finding £12 added to the bill because you and three friends sat round the same table?
Can you imagine people going out for a cheap meal, and having everyone in the restaurant sitting next to strangers so they don't have to pay the restaurant £3 extra?
It's just a bizarre money-grabbing scheme.
If they wanted to make another quick buck, maybe they should train their staff to speak Klingon, then charge customers £3 to be spoken to in any other language.
But £12 wouldn't be added to the bill without the customer agreeing to the charge.
Exactly in the same way that you choose to pay to pick your seat with Ryanair.
As with airlines, if you don't like the way a restaurant runs its business, vote with your feet.0 -

How is that implied? The website says you'll be assigned a random seat. I'd think that implies that the chance of being seated together is extremely low.0 -
I will always book seats and priority. In some airports priority boarding is a joke, but it does ensure your hand luggage is not put in the hold.
Worth every penny. Ryanair goes to places I want to go to. It is reliable, and I am so worth an extra tenner each way or whatever it is. My choice.
If you don't want any of that, well sit in the middle row apart and desist from endless moaning and penny pinching. If you cannot afford or don't want to pay for seats well suck it up or use another airline.
Ryanair won't care.0 -
How so? as with most things in life you have options, with low cost airlines you pay to fly and pay for extra,s,hold luggage, seat selection etc.Nobody makes you take luggage, sit together, board first etc.the options are there and if you want them you pay for them.0

I wonder how Ms Vickers is getting on with her 'official complaint' to Ryanair.
"I want something that is chargeable but I want it for free". :whistle:0 -
Any business is entitled to change their business model as they see fit.
This is what Ryanair have done.
Do you really think that sitting next to a stranger on a plane for a couple of hours will RUIN your holiday?
It really is very, very simple:
if you are so scared of sitting next to a stranger, then pay the (small) charge to select your seats.
It's not a case of sticking up for Ryanair.
It's about understanding that they want to maximise their profits (WOW! Shock! Horror! A business wanting to do that! Well, I never!) and if they can make money by getting some people to pay to sit with their travelling partner and thus keep the fares low for those people who are not scared of strangers, then I'm all for it.
You need to understand that paying for seats together is a choice.
You either do it or you don't.
No different to choosing to take hold luggage or not.0 -
Ok, so ignoring the paying aspect......
Why do you think Ryanair have an obligation to inform you of this policy change? They are still honouring the contract - to transport you from A to B on certain dates for a certain amount.
And realistically what difference would it have made if you had known? You've chosen Ryanair for a reason - convenience of airport, flight times, cost....Not the ability to sit next to your companion without having to pay a fee.0 -
Where have they changed their policy?
Ryanair previously charged for selecting seats.
Ryanair are still charging for selecting seats.
No change in policy there.
Ryanair have changed the way they allocate seats to people who won't pay for seat selection.
Did you expect a personal email from Mr O'Leary?
If you don't pay to select seats, you should not expect to be sat together.
Previously, people chanced it and hoped for the best.
Exactly the same as Ms Vickers did.0
