My husband daughter and I booked a Rui cruise April29 2020. My husband is over 70years old and has diabetes. I’m 69years and have health issues. We are all fully insured but how do we stand cancelling as only one of the group meets the government advice ie don’t cruise if over 70 with underlying health issues. I wouldn’t like to go on holiday without my husband
    many thanks
    Contact your insurer and ask?

@slickchic2000uk: I would let this recent advisories filter through over coming days and for your travel company to review, make plans and issue a policy.  Wait until next week and if nothing published on the travel company website, or contact from them, then try to call.

Respectfully I do think people need to understand the fluid and changing circumstances and situation. When announcements from Governments and health bodies are released it takes time for the information to be released and disseminated. Policy adjustments follows but will not be immediate. I do sometimes wonder if some who are posting on the Internet forums at the moment believe President Trump or Boris Johnson are actually calling around XX Airlines call centre to talk individually to each contact centre call handler about the situation and brief them in advance of a global television announcement.
  • Hi yes totally agree
    many thanks

  • Hi, I need some advice on what my rights are? We have booked a holiday to the Netherlands to stay at a theme Park in 2 weeks time.

The cost of the holiday includes ALL attractions.

Due to the coronavirus, ALL the attractions are closed at the theme park during our stay.

The company has said we can still stay at the theme park but with everything being closed, this significantly changes our holiday and we would not have booked just for accommodation!

It greatly impacts on the ENTIRE experience!

They have offered to change the date to a time between November and March but only during school time (I have 4 kids so could be hit with a VERY hefty fine if I take them out of school!) and I don’t want to go to the Netherlands in the thick of winter, to be honest!

I don’t think the above is covered on our holiday insurance but as the holiday we booked has changed so dramatically, are we entitled to a refund?

Can I pursue the matter through legal channels?

    Any help greatly appreciated! Xx

  • Was it booked as a package including flights? Which tour operator was it booked through? There is now an FCO advisory in place for 30 days against all but essential foreign travel so a tour operator would be cancelling anyway if you have transport included.
  • We booked hire car with gold car Malaga on 7th April. The borders are now closed so we can’t get to Spain.  They are saying because they are still open they won’t give us a refund.  Any ideas?
  • Travel insurance, as long as you have got consequential loss cover.
  • Due to the corona virus, our Jet2 package holiday has been cancelled, they have offered us to defer our holiday or we can be given holiday vouchers to the value of our holiday, they claim we aren’t entitled to a refund in monetary terms is this lawful???
  • You are entitled to a monetary refund.

Hi, no, we booked with the park directly through their website as this gave us options for the all-inclusive attractions package. We then booked our ferry direct through stena.
Does the FCO advice mean that we are covered on our insurance now?

    Thanks for your reply! 😊
