Nappy Cakes

Hi Bellag,
I don't pin blankets but just use an elastic band under the ribbons. Pins would probably look neater at the back but I don't like to pin things in case they leave holes.
I use sellotape's sticky pads to stick the teddy on the top, it's enough to hold them in place and the cello also helps keep it there.
I've just bought boards from the bagnboxman as Moonpenny says they are very thin but to be fair all of my cakes seem secure without a base so it's just really to give it a flat base to work on.
Shelley and I have both found word of mouth is good. I've now done 4 through work, the last one they were going to buy flowers but then thought the nappy cake would be nicer!
Liz_uk The cakes look lovely by the way. well done!

My latest creation!!
For this one I used:
Bottom teir:
9 size 2 nappies
3 baby grows - inside
2 sick blankets (to stick over your shoulder when feeding) - inside
1 blanket
1 pair of booties
Top teir
7 size two nappies
1 sick blanket
1 teddy
Layers held together with an old pen shell, lol.
Cost for this one about £12.50 but its for a mate so I dont mind spending a tad moreGreen and White Barmy Army!0 -
Hi kr15snw,
Looks great, you might like to glam it up by calling the "sick cloths" muslins though.:rotfl:

kr15snw thats gorgeous! How did you get the booties to stay there? do you pin them on?
thanks Kizzyw, moonpenny and becs. I've had a look at the bagnboxman website and have also come across www.thecraftcompany.co.uk for boards too. They are more expensive but postage is half the price. Anybody have any experience with them?
I've never posted a piccie before so here goes...my first cakes!
