Hi all..
Right have some size 2 huggies.. Some blue ribbon, some blue roses (which i`m going to use ontop of some of the nappies), a blue elephant holding a `it`s a boy` balloon .. I just hope it bloomin is after all this effort !.. hehe !!
Also picked up some blue tigger and pooh rompers from woolies for £1.50 and some bibs in sainsburys for 45p !
To get list..
.. I just need a blue blanket, am going to raid primark tomorrow as advised by some of you, any other suggestions of where to go?! also a cake board (any cheap and cheerful suggestion?) some bamboo, double sided tape and elastic bands.. then hopefully i`m all set to go !! Oh and some sellophane (have a HUGE roll of pink spotty sellophane but I need either blue of clear!!
Does that sound like everything to get me started?
I have got a folder of about 30 different designs which I`ve found by googling, so lots of ideas !!
Hi, I have still yet to find any cake boards over here, so I am using large 'paper plates'. I just make sure that its a nice snug fit and then pull the blanket down slightly, enough to hide it. I wasnt sure at first that they would be strong enough, but as I always tie some white string tightly around the nappies anyway, I think it helps make the whole thing more solid, plus I can then remove the elastic bands and reuse them, as well as not worrying that my elastic bands will show or move under my ribbons.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
Becs - They have baby fleece blankets for £1.99! They're lovely, do them in pale green, pale blue, pink, lemon and cream. The blue ones have some cars embroidered on the corner. Fab value!
Becs .... I am so jealous .... I want some NOW!!! I am just dreaming of those pale green ones!!!
CandyB101 the cakes are great, sounds like you know where to go for the bargains now! Good luck.
Believe me I am trying really hard to find them, I just have to go here, there and everywhere, its probably cost me a fortune in petrol already.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
I know what you mean CandyB101, there isn't a shop left undiscovered at the mo. I am finding though that the more I am doing the more I am learning where to go. Also getting into the habit of stocking up when I go. It's teddies I wish i could find better selection and better value. I would really love to do more with teddies like peter rabbit etc but they're just too expensive.0

Becs - I found that with the teddies - I loved the Asda ones but they changed the range recently and I cant get any more lions, max or milly. Fortunately I live less than a mile from Mcarthur Glen shopping outlet and they have an M&S outlet. I went up last week and they had a white teddy with blue paws, white bunny with pink ears and a white giraffe with yellow patches all £3.50 each or buy 2 get 1 free - so I had 3 for £7. Might pop up for more this week:DLittle Miss Chatterbox

Oooh thanks Shelley, There's an M & S outlet not too far from me so might be worth a look. Last time I went into Asda they had heps of lovely teddies. Am going tomorrow so will have a look but it is an absoloutely enormous Asda so not sure what would be elsewhere. I really fancy doing the character cakes like beatrix potter and miffy etc as think they do look alot more expensive and more professional. The 3 tier cake I have done in Blue tonight has eyeore on top and he looks really good! (He's not suitable for under 18 months though but I have put his card inside the cake so they know that and will also state on my ingredients card. Can't see it being too much of an issue as not many babies short of teddies from birth!0

I always state the age on the ingredients card too because I remove all the tags before putting on the cake. I hope you have luck with the teddies.
I made an eeyore one too - I sold that last week.Little Miss Chatterbox

yep I do the same. I print a little card that I tuck into the cellophane with all the details on.
I did 2 cakes by post last week and they got there safely so well chuffed with that, not keen on doing them by post though as just stress about them until I hear they got there safely!
I'll need to get some more teddies tomorrow to finish off the cakes for Sunday, I have some bears i got from card warehouse but not keen on them now as think they're too big.0 -
Thanks everyone - got a blue blanket and muslin from asda last night..
Can someone tell me about the sizes of tiers.. how many nappies should I use on each tier for a 3 tier?
Thank you !Debt Free Jan 2010!(Be happy) the state of your life is nothing more than the state of your mind! X:j0 -
Candyb, Your cakes with the photo frames are fab. Really different!, I wouldn't worry about being called "crazy english" at least that way you will get a name for yourself and everyone will remember you. LOL.
Becs - loved your sock cupcakes. I think they are well worth the money. Hope you had a good day today and sold loads!!!!0 -
