    Hi,
The three tier ones I do I use a blanket or shawl on the bottom tier and a muslin cloth on the middle and top layers. My personal preference is for the nappies to be covered as I think it gives the finished article more of a "cake" finish but there are plenty of people out there who prefer bare nappies it really is a question of your own taste and those you are making for.
I hope my answer gives you the info you were looking for through with regard to coverings.

    Hi Becs

Your "fairy cakes" are lovely and different. You have made a really good job of twirling the items to look like icing. It's difficult to put prices on things, I am having the same trouble myself!

Kr15snw, Some people like to cover the nappies, some like them showing. You could use blankets, towels, muslins, shawls or any fabric you wanted depending on the look you want. Florist ribbon is the cheapest ribbon and is 2inch wide so a good choice if you don't want to cover all the nappies.

They're gorgeous Moonpenny, I like your little toys on top, at first glance I thought the cakes looked like they were pram shape with the hoods up. The problem I found when I did my single tier one earlier was finding something the right size for the top, everything I tried looked too big for it until I found the elephant.
Yours are great, very well balanced in size. The pricing thing is a nightmare, I feel awkward putting any mark up on my costs as I love doing them but that is ridiculous! Hubby is going mad pulling his hair out that I don't have his business nouse! Also I do tend to go mad with the amount of bits I put in mine so they end up costing quite a bit. I get depressed when I look on ebay at some of the prices and think I just couldn't sell mine for what they do because I'd lose money! Equally I don't want to compromise on what I put in mine, I like the idea of it being packed full of goodies so it's just as exciting as the outside appearance.
By the way seen lots of cakes with dummys and covers advertised in them, any ideas on where you would get these from? I can only seem to find your bog standard dummies!
  • Moonpenny they are really different, I can't read the writing except for where it says 'my friends' but it looks so pretty, how did you do them?

Wow girls I've just come home from an afternoon shift and you've all been so busy.
Becs - the cupcakes are beautiful and really effective.
Moonpenny - your cupcakes are also beautiful. You both need to start selling them now!!!
If I missed anyone I apologise. xxx

Becs. Thanks for your comments. The toys came like that in card box type things. I just put a barbeque skewer back and front up into the cardboard box section. Bargain - 99p Home Bargains. Iv'e put 7 Nappies 1 vest, 1pr socks 1 bib, toy and the burp cloth around it. Can you see any better with these single pics?

    Thanks crystalclear,

I thought I was going to have a problem with the card at first and was thinking of taking toys off, but it worked out fine. I put red ribbon on both at first but for some reason the orange looks better on the girl. Don't know why when they are both same colour boxes - strange!!!
