Why do people plant strawberries in strawberry planters? Is it to do with drainage or pests or just getting more strawberries in your space? I'm thinking I could slip a couple of grow bags inside one of the pallets then prop it up against the wall and cut slits between the slats to grow some?

    Ours aren't in a planter and they're fine. ;)

CCL many thanks for taking the time to comment about how you felt at the end of your DMP, I thought it was me being strange. Final payment tomorrow and thats it.
Looking forward now to when it does fully hit home that the IVA is finished.

    * Going for a free 5km ParkRun tomorrow morning to test the wonky ankle. If you like running or walking you can get details of your local free weekly events here. (Link) There's 452 events every week in the UK. My local one is super-friendly and you don't have to be good at running at it to join in. You can literally just be fit enough to walk or roll the whole thing slowly and you'll be welcomed in.

I don't know of anything you can do with courgette leaves FVD, I guess the plants need them to make courgettes! I grow strawberries in various containers, but find hanging baskets the best - having said this, they will grow pretty much anywhere - I have even had runners rooting between the paving slabs :) I find in the hanging baskets the slugs are less likely to get them, and it is easy to fleece the whole thing if the birds get too interested! I redo the hanging baskets every year though, overwintering the plants I want to keep in the big pots the tomato plants spent the summer in :)

Some of next doors strawberries made it under the fence last year and have rooted in the soil that washes out and collects around the base of a planter, they really don't need much encouragement, do they? My wild ones (from the dead and dying stand at the GC last year) are thriving but the fruits are so small that last year i just picked them and put them on the bird feeder.

We had the cod for dinner as planned, avoiding a Friday night takeaway.) There wasn't much worth grappling over at the little Mr T so I waited until later and just got some YS mushrooms for breakfast tomorrow (I have everything else for it already.) Well done HappyKitties DD on her YS finds!

I've sold a book for £15 on eBay tonight, I'm not sure what that will leave me in profit, I think £10.35 (after eBay/PayPal and postage.) Still, better than a poke in the eye :T
    Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

DD picked up a load of fruit-melon, those doughnut shaped peaches, apricots, strawberries all for 5p last night.
I've got a feeling as a student, DD is going to come home richer rather than poorer the way she is fine tuning her YS bargains hunting skills:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
She also likes to keep a budget book as is saving for a car. Pleased that she is saving for it, not getting anything on credit. Hopefully skills that will stay with her.
Got to pop into town today to do a few bits and then a little bit of paperwork with some housework.
Got to be out of the house all day tomorrow for DD and a sporting event. It's going to be a very long day so want to get as much as I can done today.
Have a great day everyone x

Morning all, so yesterday was awful, me and DD were both poorly, by mid day I was achy, no energy, hot/cold, shivers and looking after DS too was hard! My first proper illness as a mum, it's been an eye opener! Today I'm feeling a bit better but I'm not right, I'll be staying in today I think!

    - Check banking
    - Swagbucks
    - Tidy up a little bit
    - Eat healthily

That's my tiny list for today as I'm not feeling great! Have a lovely weekend x

    Morning all :coffee:
Enjoy your day off Ally - hope the weather is as kind to you as it's looking here this morning. I think I might make the time to go out for a walk today - no running for me but definitely a walk. Only thing is that I need to leave it until it's less hot and sunny - I'm only just recovering from my Alton Towers sunburn.
I'm half hoping that I might bag a nsd today. I don't have many plans:
    Bare minimum of housework
Tutoring for a couple of hours
Loads and loads of exam marking
That sounds like nothing but honestly the exam marking is hours and hours. I haven't picked up a crochet hook since Monday
  • Morning :) phew what a difference a day makes! I bit the bullet yesterday and went back to my manager about the pressure I'm under. Sent her an email of all of the priority things I had to do, including the additional ones she had given me, explaining between visits I had about 1.5-2 hours *spare* and asked her what she thought were my top priorities. We had a phone conversation and I pointed out me feeling under this much pressure, crying all the time, not being able to work out what out of priority tasks what were the top top priorities and it wasn't that long ago I had a breakdown. She got it! And actually helped me to find a way that I could get what was needed done :) that combined with 2 cancellations meant I got most things done.

Oh is away this weekend, so me and madam :) we're going to a demonstration about our hospital being closed :( While in town pick up a few bits and finally get the netting and change the euros. Might take madam for lunch with it ;)

    in other small things news:

    * tidy up! House is a bomb but I have a day off of volunteering - only 5 more days to go :j
    * probably take madam to the park later, she's a real park fiend and the moment!
    * quick shower
    * B/D from stores
    * nip to SM and get a few bits to see us through the next week ;)
    * hope to do some gardening
    * think I'll take a picture of a kids bike seat and put it on fleabay
    * pick up some more party invitation

Ok that's my lot I think!

HK amazing news :T so pleased for you x

    Morning all,

DH is at work today, so I'm off out for lunch with my bestie. We will be window shopping but I won't be spending much at all.
Found a new free App on my phone , Google Keep. Finding it really useful, normally when I'm relaxing in the evening and I think must remember this this and that. I can just quickly add it to my list.
    So todays list includes
-Get and post a card for my DSIL. I will see her on Thursday with her gift but I do like people to have cards on their actual birthday and we are away next week
-Leave a note for postman. Got a redelivery that needs signing for and if he is not here in time I want it left with a neighbour and not taken away again!
-dig our suitcases out of the loft. DS and his GF are off to Australia for a year and want to borrow them. I have a couple of little ones we can use if we go anywhere.
-Give the house a once over before I go out so tomorrow I can concentrate on packing
-post 11 parcels so I'm all up to date before we go

I have someone picking up our dining table tonight after 6. I want to wait until DH is back. They still haven't paid for it. I'm guessing they want to look first and maybe haggle, but they've got a bargain and won't be getting a penny off. If they don't want it I will send them away with a flea in there ear. Im happy to resell (been a real pain in the messages) we shall see.
Ok better get on with it
    Have a great Saturday x
