    Hi gang

Just me and the dog at home this weekend. :)

It looks like a lovely day here so I'll definitely take the dog out a nice walk. I get access to English Heritage sites with Barclays rewards so I'll go to a free place. One is around an hour's drive away but will be a nice day out hopefully.

Also got some dog training to do. Going through 'Impulse Control' training with pooch-face - you basically hold out food but don't let him take it. If he's good for x seconds then you give him another better treat.Meant to do it until the dog can sit for 30 seconds waiting... We'll see! I also want to teach him the quiet command, but that involves teaching him to bark on command first of all and I just can't face that - poor neighbours!

I've reconciled YNAB - tight month! Got a wedding with a £150 hotel bill and pressie. I'm defo not buying anything new to wear though.

The car hire place I went to the other night was a complete joke - when I got there 4 people were waiting and it took an hour and a half for me to get served!!! I got a 1/4 tank of petrol free for the hassle. ;)

Need to sort the house out whenever I get back, but sometimes I find that if you do something you can fit more in IYSWIM. If I don't go out today I'll probably just sit here doing not very much all day!

DNMS - glad you spoke to your manager again. Sounds like a good result!
Julie - good for you - don't give in on the dining table! :)

No real plans today as I was up most of the night with gastritis :( So painful, found the meds from last time, and it has eased off a bit this morning, which is just as well or it would have meant a trip to the out of hours, at least. Shattered though :( Anyway, I will be cheap to feed today!

No watering needed in the garden today as it poured with rain yesterday afternoon and evening.

Fortunately I am fairly up together with everything after doing quite a lot yesterday - could do with hoovering downstairs but it can wait for a couple of days if need be (or OH can do it).

Pleased to hear that you managed to get more support from your manager DNMS. CCL, I feel your pain with the exam marking!

BBQ food for OH and my brother - toast for me if I am lucky!

    Morning all :coffee:
Enjoy your day off Ally - hope the weather is as kind to you as it's looking here this morning. I think I might make the time to go out for a walk today - no running for me but definitely a walk.

    Morning. :coffee:

It rained throughout my run and I think I came 90th, but I don't mind. I enjoyed it. And apart from £1.50 on petrol to get there it is free. And a free bottle of water and banana at the end, I'll reuse the bottle until it is no longer usable.

    Hi Saturday Savers,
Not a very exciting post from me, but have kept the non-spendy faith today:
*Got the remaining grocery shopping at Aldi first thing. We are £12 under budget this week!!
*Postie brought us both a 'My John Lewis' voucher for free coffee & cake.
*Found another free coffee & cake voucher in village newsletter for local farm shop cafe.
*Bombay potatoes mr f batch cooked in slow cooker last month defrosting to go with the whole Indian spiced chicken he's cooking tonight.
*Loads of veggie garden tasks which of course are money saving when you think that it"s our future food: Planted out 6 courgette plants, 4 squash, harvested 3 lettuces, planted out a tray of lollo rosso, netted the strawberries, staked up the aubergines, peppers & chillies & watered everything. We also did loads of weeding & I rescued the rhubarb from bindweed attack. Free exercise too as I can feel my backside stiffening up from all the weeding-based 'squats'. Mr f has also dug over 2 terrible beds & mowed the lawn.....for a total of 15000 steps!
*Make picnic for day out tomorrow....also flask. Happy to buy 1 coffee each but not two.
*Email friend to see if she could help me with a bit of sewing. If she agrees, I have an idea for a lovely Christmas present I can make using a kit I already have which is stuffed in a cupboard (bought pre LBM!!)
*All free leisure for rest of day. Book to finish & a magazine I was given
Hope poorly peeps soom om the mend

  • Arggghhhhhh! My son announced earlier he & his gf are visiting tomorrow! well what he said was "remember we're coming down tomorrow?" Remember my eye it's the first I've heard of it! It's lovely to see them, I don't get to see him anywhere near as much as I would like to but jeez will the universe give me a break! Told him I'll be out but I'll leave a key for him and I'll get a chicken out of the freezer and he can cook it grabbing some veg on the way! (shhhhhhh that's another day I don't have to go shopping ;))

Dawn sorry to hear you've not been feeling well. Hope you get better soon x

Feel better soon Dawn and Katy Ann, my DS has tonsillitis, lots of poorlies around.

My new (to me) M&S sofa arrived, I can't get over how fab it is, it's supposed to be 5 years old but it looks like new and only cost me £50 :T The sale of my original sofa plus the one I bought but hated paid for it and the delivery charge.

I cooked a full English this morning using YS tomatoes and mushrooms, sausages from the freezer, bacon I bought last week and some stale bread (which was fine fried!) It was lovely!

I've looked at my various accounts and moved some money about. I've paid £500 off of my interest bearing CC but there's still £250 I'll be charged interest on plus more going through the system. I looked at all my transactions to see where it's all going and it's clear I need to stop going to the garden centre. I'm struggling to keep afloat with this one, I keep paying every spare penny off of it (to avoid paying interest) but then have to use it that month *intending* to spend less each month to whittle it down but it's not working :(

Hopefully my guitar will sell which will help a lot, I'm going to look at the weather forecast tomorrow and maybe do the boot sale if it's nice, I don't have a table but I do have a few throws I could lay it all out on. I wish I knew about the job because I could sell the bouncy castle and other soft play stuff if it's never going to happen.

In good news, DSXGF has found lodgings with an old lady further up our road which will stop me worrying about her so much. I know she's not my responsibility but she's so young and I do still feel protective of her.

There were about 30 packs of cherry tomatoes due to be reduced today so I will pop down to bag one of those later and hope there is some soft fruit there too. I don't need to buy any actual 'meals' for a while, we have plenty in the freezer, I'm thinking of reheating some moussaka tonight.

I've sold another book on flea bay except the person is in Germany so I have to figure out how to cancel the sale

Julie67, it is better for you for your buyer to pay cash, not only will you save on PayPal fees but PayPal can't refund it if the buyer changes their mind or says they didn't receive it. Have a read of the eBay forum on here, it is very easy to be scammed on collection items if they pay by PayPal as you have no proof of tracked delivery. Plus if they complain it's 'not as described' it's up to you to get it back. If you can't and they open a case eBay will refund the money AND let them keep the item. Far better to have their cash in your pocket!

I am an idiot, I just accidentally reported my own post as spam :o

So, I dropped off a couple of Hermes packages and stopped off for the YS shop. It was already in full swing with someone new doing the reductions and a couple of very loud customers I've never seen there before with their equally vocal husbands. I managed to get the tomatoes I was after plus one of only two packs of strawberries (luckily most of the others thought they were more tomatoes!) a crayfish and rocket sandwich and a pack of grapes. Everything was only 80% off though (I know, I've been spoilt :o)

DS is fast asleep and I'm hoping he'll sleep until the morning now so the moussaka went back in the freezer and I had the sandwich for dinner.

The weather report is looking good for a boot sale tomorrow so I'm going to try to get an early night!

    Hi All

Had a better nights sleep but woke feeling shattered, thought I best crack on before visiting DH so stripped beds, wash bedding and got on the line drying, ironing and had just finished cleaning the bathroom when DH called to tell me he was being allowed home  4 days post-op
Quick shower and one of DH's sister and bro-in-law took me to collect DH. Since then we've just been relaxing at home and answering the phone :rotfl:

    Also managed

    Checked Bank and made PAD
Read meters and uploaded to website
    Meals from cupboards and fridge
    Checked: Ashleigh, Numberplatelotto, FPL

Off to bed now. Catch you all tomorrow.
