On the back of the last post I have meal planned. I don't need anything other than milk up to weekend when I just need some small bits for pack lunches. Other than that we are fine until we go away for the weekend at least!

I plan on taking with me everything we need food wise while we are away for the weekend other than milk.

So should be just milk for the next two weeks. Along with £5 for DS haircut.

NO other spends will be made other than the above and bills of course. Going to try and sort some more of the council tax.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Super organised as always. I know what you mean about spending money, every time I do, even if it's needed, I feel immediately sick afterwards. Have just caught up on your diary, omg to you giving up coffee!!!!!!!! I just can't! I guess I don't want to enough! Well done you!

I understand the reasoning behind uniforms but, honestly, does it need to be so expensive. I mean, why do schools have to have colour changes and cause all this extra cost? Anyway, well done, Hidden, it's all sorted now and it was kind of your mum to pay for the shoes.

I just bet you're really looking forward to this break.

That's only for one set of uniform each too :o Other than the polo shirts that come in packs of two!

But yeah I'm glad its done and I hope that I'll be more organised so it isn't as much in one month next time.

I am looking forward to getting away. I still don't want youngest to go to school :o so will be nice to spend some time together after their first week. I;m not going to tell them so it will be a surprise when they finish school on the Friday and we just head of to the caravan :D

Waiting for Friday so I can get stuff listed on eBay again.

Not sure what we're doing today. Maybe my mums for a visit and they can play in the sand pit/garden with a picnic. Depends what the weather decides to do

That's exactly how I felt yesterday, had to get some school stuff and I cant even begin to add up what was spent. All I know is that I felt sick all day and when I got home I had a headache and had to go to bed.

Who knew having kids was so expensive?:rotfl:

Hidden, you are doing fab and I am so pleased to see you have a little holiday coming up.
Hope your home life has quietened down now.

Just caught up with your diary. Wow you've done well smashing your debt targets :) Reading between the lines, I think you're far too strict with yourself, it doesn't hurt to go free range occasionally :) Glad you've got a holiday to look forward to, it will do you good to have a change of routine/scenery and the little ones will love it :)

  • I understand what you mean about feeling awful when you make a purchase as I was in the same boat at the weekend. I bought much needed underwear for myself so sometime purchases are a must.

I know the school uniforms are so expensive and I really think it is unfair to parents especially when schools change them. I remember my mum getting a school uniform grant for us. I am not sure if they still have that or not or what the criteria is for it but maybe worth looking into it? The Clarks shoes are a worthwhile spend, will last the kids ages compare to a cheaper shoe but great that your mum is going to pay for those. If you can afford it, ask her to reduce the amount you owe her (take £110 off) and that's another amount paid. But of course only if you can afford it and I know you will not get paid from you job until mid Oct so maybe not a good idea in the end.

Brilliant you are off to the caravan. Take the time and do not feel guilty as you definitely deserve the break. One thing you should definitely do when you are working and your money is steady is to have a 'Me Fund'. Put away some money to it for yourself and when you have a enough, go and treat yourself whether it is a hair cut or a new item of clothing. You deserve to do this. xxx

All sounding good - but enough of suggesting that you need to be "more organised" with the uniforms spends so it's not all in one month next time - you can only stretch your (very) limited amount of money so far lovely - it's not always down to lack of organisation that you end up having spend in a short space of time like that!

Great news that you've got the caravan trip organised!

Cutting out coffee - wow - but if you feel better for doing it then brilliant, well done you! No need to be cutting out bread totally though - although eating nothing but toast isn't great, toast is one of life's great foods so losing it altogether is a step too far IMO! Balance. Moderation. Doesn't have to be all or nothing you know! :)

Agree with MM's thinking on your "Me Fund" too - even just £5 a week set aside as a "no Quibble" amount - at least you'll be able to buy yourself new knickers without feeling guilty about it then! :D
