I have an overdraft option on my current account but just ignore it. I wouldn't get rid of it though as it's a safety net just in case. Years ago my mortgage payment went out twice by mistake which made me go overdrawn when I didn't have an agreed overdraft. Cost me a bomb, although I got the fees back from the mortgage provider as it was their fault not mine.

So if you can trust yourself go for it, otherwise don't put temptation in your way.

    Thanks Sun Addict

My perspective has shifted since I came on here and I now have a much better approach to finance and credit etc.
I do believe that I can trust myself. An overdraft would be an emergency safety net only.
I would treat it as if it were not there IYKWIM...
    Thanks :D

A word of caution on the bank review - they will be suggesting a product that might make them some money... banks are not charities after all. Maybe retail banks should be not-for-profit.... Can you imagine the fall out if that were pronounced  :rotfl:

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

    Thanks folks :D
No way will I be taking a fee paying account or any that has alleged benefits that actually only benefit them... ;)
I am thinking of just stepping up to their standard current account.

Had a busy but good weekend adventurising with GF and the dugs :D

Work continues to be busy but manageable thanks to my excellent PA :D

Finances are going to be tight into 2019, I will be putting money away though so it's all good.

Hope everyone had a good weekend

  • Morning Folks :D

WannabeFree - I guessed you were needing a top-up ;) Hope your appointment goes well today and that the wee lassies are feeling better.

Not a lot happening other than busy at work...

Had a good weekend, walking in the local hills with GF and the furries on Sunday with a lovely Pub lunch afterwards :D

Have volunteered as a walker with my local dog rescue at weekends and hope to get started with them this coming weekend. It's just a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, so looking forward to helping out with the doggies :D

    Hope awbiddy is grand :D
