Best packs are also military issue... have an old and much loved patrol pack that has been everywhere with me over the years.
Keeping an eye out for a full-size Bergen at a decent price...BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

I don't know if they do women's versions military issue... I do usually get the girlie versions as otherwise the pack straps can be too far apart for me, and for sleeping bags I don't see the point in carrying a foot more of the thing than I needDebt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

RosaBernicia British Army issue boots now come in both Men's and Women's sizes with different width fittings and with a set of different thickness insoles to fine tune the fit
After all these years they have finally realised (or listened to the troops) that proper fitting boots are essential and must be made available to all personnel.
The Bergen has been available in different sizes (back-lengths) for years, so as to cater for everyone from the wee short-a r s es to the big hulking giants. The pack capacity remains at 120L
Have seen them selling on fleabay from £15 up to £100 depending on condition. I'm hoping to pick up a decent one for about £40-50...BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron

Morning folks
Update on "Personal Life" enhancement
We met through my besties missus (they work together).
She is a couple of years younger than myself, widowed (late husband passed from cancer) 5 years, no kids.
She moved up here to start a new life for herself and transferred to where besties missus (BM) works about a year ago. They became good friends at work, began socializing together and she became one of "the girls" that BM went out with.
Unbeknownst to me BM was checking her out as a potential friend / girlfriend for myself... matchmaking
BM suggested to her that she met me as she thought we had a lot in common and would get on great even if just friends...
Set us up on a blind date and we been seeing each other ever since
So far we have been away walking and camping together a few weekends and we both feel that we are now "a couple".
She knows all about my financial situation and is very supportive of what I am doing to turn things around. When I was telling her all about it she told me that she loved what I was doing and said that like her I had realised that I needed to "live and not just exist".
She loves the fact that I brew, bake and can cook
Loves the dug and the dug loves her. She has a wee daft mongrel herself (looks like a cross between a cairn and a JRT?) and he and my wee dug are bestest buddies. Although my dug is in season atm so he is not getting anywhere near her...
We don't plan on moving in together, it's working as it is. As much as we love being together, we both like having our own places IYKWIM
So, all good in the hood, as they say.
Oh and BM is a very happy bunny at her "matchmaking" and my bestie is also delighted for me too
Have a grand day folks
Will pop in n out during the day and I hope to get back on again this evening
