Powershop Electricity looks a good option particularly for high E7 users.
  • Me also!
PS: As yet I have had no response to my request for confirmation of the date i first requested to transfer to a cheaper Tariff... Time for another message and email!

Keep us posted. How people are treated when they have a reasonable complaint is an important factor in choosing supplier.

As above, The Sweet Treat Special Pack came with a 35% discount (though for 4 days worth of electricity in my case).
  • At last!
My email and/or "contact us" messages sent after my earlier post today resulted in the following response:

    "Jonny here from Powershop.
Sincere apologies for not getting back to you within a timely manner, as you could imagine we're pressed for time based on the current circumstances and we are trying our best to get back to customers across all communication avenues swiftly as possible.
The following are queries that you've requested to be answered.
I am requesting that you advise me of the date that you responded to me, earlier in the year, and the tariffs that were available to me at that time.
    • You sent your query regarding tariffs on 10th April 2020 at 10:21 am. We responded to you on 27th April 2020 at 11:20 am.
What tariffs were available to me at that time.

If you would like that all the content be sent to you, please send a Subject Access Request to our relevant departments email complaints@powershop.co.uk. Once received they will action your request accordingly.
If you would like to discuss further or request any further queries to be answered, please feel free to contact us on the number below or via reply to this email.
    Kind Regards,

    Thanks"

Interesting to see that if you want to see the messages that you have sent to them in their secure system, you have to "Raise a Complaint" and send a "Subject Access Request".
A rubbish messaging system that doesn't give you an accessible copy of the message you sent!
    For the record:
My old rate was Top Shopper 2019v3
     - Daily charge = £0.2093
     - P per kWh = £0.1389
    12,000 kWh per annum - Total = £1,743.19
The current rate in April when I asked was Top Shopper 2020v1
     - Daily charge = £0.20696
     - P per kWh = £0.12947
    12,000 kWh per annum - Total = £1,629.08
That's a saving of £114.01 for 365 days at the TS 2020v1 versus TS 2019v3.!
My current rate is Top Shopper 2020v2
     - Daily charge = £0.2252
     - P per kWh = £0.1268
    12,000 kWh per annum - Total = £1,603.80
That's a saving of £139.40 for 365 days at the TS 2020v2 versus TS 2019v3.
BTW they moved me from my "old" TS tariff (2019v3) to the "new" TS tariff (2020v2) on 10th September...5 months after my original request -

Question: Does anyone know when TS 2020v2 tariff was introduced?

The moral of the story is to check monthly yourself the current PS market offering - TS 2020v2 will be replaced with TS 2020v3 and check if you save by moving to the new rate,

UPDATE: Before pressing <SEND> I checked the current rate as of 16:45 14/10/20 -  although it doesn't give the version of Top Shopper, they are quoting £0.1281 per kWh and £0.22523 - this must be TS 2020v3 or v4 and increase of theTS2020v2 rate of £0.1268 (An increase of £16.00 a year for my consumption).

Of course it also demonstrates that they did not answer truthfully my question on 27th April, but that's for me to sort out with them or with OffGen, if it comes to that!

Keep your eyes on them and keep your bill down!
Oh and yes I compared their offering with Outfox, Green, Simplicity and Utility Point and PS continue to be the cheapest!

  • TS 2020 v2 was introduced in the summer probably July. V3 was intrigued in August. In East Midlands region they are identical to each other and V1.
  • Sorry I meant “introduced in August”
  • Interesting, because they put me on v2 on September 10th.
As you see the current Tarif (V3?) is higher in Yorkshire than v2.
I'll get working on the spreadsheet to calculate my overcharge over the 5 month period.
PS Thanks for your Support tlcgraham!

My experience is no customer service team is perfect who you get makes all the difference. But some companies make up for it better than others but essentially for an easy life it is a case of getting the right person who understands the system usually sorts things... Powershop backdated me to date I wanted switch on when I did what your trying but did take a manager to do everything manually.

I'm split tarriffs are not as easy to work out sometimes so in my case delay was cause the manager wasn't sure it was best for me as on paper one I was on looked better until i pointed out I know my yearly splits and also knew how it varies in colder years and I think by time it was sorted how it was running at the time cause of kids been home as it was all around that time this year ... They did the workings and somewhere in these threads that info is there and I did have a small saving to be made using my averages and it also turned out to benefit me more this year than another because 4 kids were home and homeschooling so the saving was more than it would have been normally.. I hope that makes sense now I'm e10 that's why kids at home impacted more.. Cause of split times during day.. Ive pretty much at that level of obsessiveness that it's how my on off peek usage that makes the difference re if one taffiff is cheaper than another last few years. Darn brain fog that don't quite read right sorry I hope people get the jist
  • I participate in the "Big Community Switch", See: here for more info, to see if I can get my Gas and Electricity at a cheaper price.
Their offer to me came through today and this was my feedback to them:
"My current contracts are as follows:
    Gas
Current Supplier: British Gas ( Flex Aug 2021, Fixed)
1.995p per kWh, 21.683 per day
At 30,000 kWh per year the cost is £678 -
Your offer of £827 is £149.00 more expensive.

    Electricity
Current Supplier PowerShop (Powershop Baseline 2020 v3, Variable)
0.1268p per kWh, 0.2252p per day
At 12,000 kWh per year the cost is £1604
Your offer of £1838 is £234.00 more expensive.
    Summary:
If I was to accept your offer I would be paying £383 more per year.

It strikes me that your offer is a very bad deal for customers with a consumption profile similar to mine.

Can you explain why this is so?"
I'll let you know what they have to say........

On the "You are on the cheapest Tariff - Oh No, I'm NOT!" Post - Still waiting to hear back from PS Support on how to submit a complaint!
