Woolly Awesome Special Pack
30% discount for equivalent of 5 days electricity.
Regarding Powershop, happy enough with them now but you must keep an eye out for the special packs as the sporadic one-off ones like the above make a big difference in getting the best price overall. They are not a company for those who are lazy and not particularly pro-active.
Also, just like other companies, you must keep a close eye on their rates compared to the competition.
When your deal comes for renewal you must check what is offered to new customers - they say they offer renewal customers the same deals as new customers but I know from experience this year in my case they did not, offering a poorer deal instead. Once this was highlighted to them then they changed me onto the better deal without any hassle1 -
PRICE CUTS are likely on a new Baseline Tariff thanks to the Price Cap reduction from October 1st.
Npower have reduced their Standard Variable Tariff by 4% for Electricity and 15% for Gas. Powershop Baseline usually matches the Npower SVT and is therefore likely to fall by a similar amount.0 -
I'm really p!ssed off with the way that PS are messing me around over my Tariff.
We had a discussion on here about current PS tariffs back in May and your advice was to ask PS support of the cheapest tariff.
I did and they responded "You are on the lowest tariff with PS"
I made the mistake of trusting their answer.......
I've been a customer since November 2017.
My tariff last changed in 2019. I can't remember the circumstance around this, whether the change was instigated by Me or by PS, anyhow, my current tariff is Top Shopper 2019 (Version 3).
So here's the email I sent them earlier in the week....... no response so far:Hi Shannon,
I am somewhat bemused and concerned in your response to my request, specifically your statement "The tariff you are on is the cheapest tariff we have available and there is no other tariff cheaper than what you are on."According to your website, today, the current tariff that is available is "Powershop Pro (2020 Issue 3)"
which has a tariff of £0.1281 per Kwh and a daily charge of £0.22523.
My current tariff is "Top Shopper 2019 (Version 3)"
Which has a tariff of £0.1389 per Kwh and a daily charge of £0.2093
The spreadsheet below shows that my annual consumption of approx 10,000 kWh per annum, gives a saving of £132 on the "Powershop Pro (2020 Issue 3)" tariff compared with my current "Top Shopper 2019 (Version 3) " tariff.
Please can you explain the logic behind your statement.
Here is my calculation:Tariff Annual Cost Daily Days Total =((10,000 x pKwh) +(Daily Charge x 365))
kWh's pkWh Charge
Saving on 2020 Iss3 compared with TS 2019v3 = £102.18Current (Top Shopper 2019 v3) 10000 0.1389 0.2093 365 £1,465.39 £1,465.39 Powershop Pro (2020 Iss3) 10000 0.1281 0.22523 365 £1,363.21 £1,363.21
and when they respond, I'm going to request that they back date the charge it to the date of my original query!

Just checking back the Cheapest tariff available back in April when you originally asked was 2020 v1 and was actually a few pounds cheaper at £1352.69 so £112.70 cheaper per year than 2019 v3. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.1

Game On Special Pack
One of the better ones. 30% discount for the equivalent of 5 days worth of electricity.1 -
Game On Special Pack, also at 30% discount for 5 days Electricity, definitely an improvement. I’ve been back with Powershop Pro Electricity for 6 months now. So far I’ve used Electricity worth £322 at Baseline cost and paid £253 for it. However at Top Shopper rates it should have been £243.I will therefore need plenty of packs @ 30% and above to make up the £10 shortfall.0

First, their complex system. Second, their terrible customer support.
Their complex system: By asking you to buy Powerpacks in advance throughout the year, you are effectively lending them a lot of money, which becomes a very large sum as time goes by. If you stop purchasing Powerpacks to reduce the cost, they penalise you. As far as I can see there is no way of cashing in the large credit you can build up until you switch away from them – a winner for them, a very big loser for the customer.
Their terrible customer support: I've had some consumer issues in my time, but Powershop comes to the top of the list of poor companies. When I first decided to switch to them in December 2018, I expressed my reservations by telephone about their complex tariff structure and unique approach to billing. I was assured in speech and writing that if anything went wrong they would go out of their way to correct the situation, and even implied compensation would be given. No promise was fulfilled. Shortly after the switch was made, they changed my tariff by mistake, and did not inform me. Because one pays up-front by using Powerpacks which aren't directly associated with the tariff, I didn't notice the increased charges until near the end of the contract year, when I reviewed whether it was worth switching to another supplier. I saw their mistake, and asked them to rectify the overcharge. They ignored me, so after the legal requirement of eight weeks notice I made a formal complaint to the Energy Ombudsman. The Ombudsman found in my favour, and ordered Powershop to place me on the correct tariff, and refund me accordingly The refund amounted to a credit of £501.90. I no longer trusted Powershop, so I tried to check that refund, but because of the complexity of their system, I reluctantly had to accept their calculations. By the time Powershop had implemented the Ombudsman's decision, the original contract had expired and Powershop placed me on a very expensive new tariff. That meant that it was in their interest to delay my switching from them as long as possible. I tried to negotiate with them to uphold the Ombudsman's decision through to the new contract, but again they ignored my emails completely.
I switched from them, but a month after switching I still hadn't received a final gas statement, and had to chase them yet again. Their final statements contain statements like “Missed discount” and “Ombudsman Final Remedy Credit” without any clear explanation.
So much for their original reassurances. The time and effort I put into investigating their mistakes – there were others – were worth several hundred pounds more than the Ombudsman's recommendation. Even if they didn't make mistakes, a company to be avoided.

It looks like you have had a very bad experience, having to take it to the ombudsman.
I'm an electricity customer and in my first year with them I built up a credit balance of £800, as I didn't know any better.
After following comments on this forum, I contact them and told them I wanted a refund of every Powerpack that I had bought that had a discount of less than 14%.
I ended up with an "Available Balance" (Held by PS) of £600 that I used to purchase Power packs with a discount of 15% or more over a period of 2 months.
Paying in advance, with interest rates as low as they are works, provided you can buy at a high discount.
I have a further issue with my tariff, but that's another story which is currently "playing out". Once it is resolved I'll tell you all about it. The only comment I can make is that some members of the Customer Services team just want to get rid of you and will tell you anything. Just persevere, and you will get there!
