    Rainbow Rays Special Pack

    In my case just a 15% discount for the equivalent of 5 days electricity.  Powershop really seem to vary the discounts a lot these days, perception I have is that a couple of years ago the discount was pretty consistent for everyone.

    It's got to be related to what it takes to give you the top shopper assuming you buy all the packages on offer..
    Last year I used
    Day 5777
    Night 4317
    This is low for me because they fixed my heating so it's works better, also it ain't been as cold as previous years so I use less as my heating doesn't work well when temp drops below 4 degrees.. I've bought smart plugs and bulbs so I've less running on standby at night (kids were terrible at leaving stuff on) I've replaced my expensive pond pump with a eco one.. I've still one TV that still eats a small fortune and this will be next on my list to go.. And i do my darndest to remember to use washing machine at 20 degrees now and tumble dryer both on timers so come on during cheap rate... I guess I'm still high user, live in North scotland who get charged higher rates for electric which is crazy given we produce so much of it..  I also don't have a smart meter so the computer has to get used to me and is doing that much better now I'm in year 2... Everyone who is on a smart meter is much easier for them as they get real time readings. Those on year one will get higher to help them achieve top shopper ASAP too.. I'm beating the system and they have made adjustments as I've managed to achieve such a big improvement compared to previous years.. The smart home items for sure paid for themselves. Powershop is a business.. I wouldn't worry to much about what everyone gets.. Its interesting but I don't think anyone is getting better than another rather just what your promised.. I have limited options on supplier so I will be going no where soon.. Bulb is closest to me but so boring in comparison lol

    Rainbow Rays pack 35% discount for 1-2days. I use 3700kw per year of which 1700kw is Eco7
    Wow I'm well over double that a year and my night time rate alone is more than that.. Not a hope we could ever get that low.

    I think you’re spot on with your thoughts on differing discounts offered according to what is needed to achieve Top Shopper on your particular tariff. I left in December and returned on a different tariff in March. The Baseline was 2% lower but the discount to achieve Top Shopper increased from 21% to 25% so the Top Shopper tariff reduced by 6% from £1000 to £940.
           I’m also hoping they’ll be generous to me as a “new” customer so I expect over the year to easily beat my Top Shopper price.
          As powershops tariffs are without exit fees it could be worth checking your existing tariff with the  new 2020v1 tariff offered to new customers and if the new tariff is lower ask powershop to switch you to it.
            For information I live in East Midlands and use Day 2000kw Night 1700kw Gás 16000kw

    When I queried had a made top shopper last year because it really never felt I did and I just wanted to see them do the sums the one thing that was brought to my attention I hadn't factored in was your daily charge. Once factored in it made my bills make a lot more sense.
    I'm currently on top shopper elec version 3..
    I will check how that compares to the one offered for new customers and see if it worth moving to bulb for a month or 2 and collect a discount for been a new customer from a friend who has discounts for them also. I fear the difference may not be worth the hassle especially when customer service will not be running as normal due to covid19.

    You are a genius! Did quote indeed
    first year promise 2020 issue 1 is cheaper.. And as my current one wasn't fixed term and I couldn't change online due to the need to a new email they did it by phone..
    Now get..
    Daily charge 20.055p vs old 20.97p
    Night rate        7.982p  vs old 8.28p
    Day rate         14.952p  vs old 16.29p
    Here's the interesting part.. Assuming the manager knows their stuff we should have been dropped to this on the tariff I was on because it a variable tariff and as a top shopper your always gaurenteed the cheapest tariff so got an appolgie and it will hopefully back date.. When they redo the calculations. Will be watching closer for changes of tarrif in future since the system is obviously not updating with new prices as it should when they do change them.

    That’s Great!           If they bring out a lower tariff you can change to it.
                 I beat my Topshopper price by more than £80 last year by buying all packs with a “sensible discount”. I know because I checked independently of Powershop by keeping my own records each month and adding it up at the end of the year.

    You don't see any benefit from buying the lesser % ones when engery cost is lower? I've see them start to come into play last month as they are now worth more as prices have increased from when I purchaced them. So I ended up seeing all 3 of last years little extra packs taking lasts months bill down that have never been used until now.
    If you go online browser rather than the app you can also check all the old packs and what you bought them at and what they are worth today. So I've not felt the need to write them down as I've no control which ones they use anyway. I've no worked out by how much I bet it by tbh..think I said in an earlier post they worked it out as just under 30 quid ish once the daily charge was counted in too when I queried it at the end of the year. They did drop my discounts and make an account adjustment when they seen I was using much less than the year before that they were basing my usage on... had they not it would have been higher. I will be watching closer this year and might go re count see if they were spot on just cause I've time to do so right now 😂

    I believe Equites lives in North of Scotland too I hope he reads your posts and asks to change tariff and saves money as well.
    Anyone not on the new 2020v1 tariff already can change to it if it’s cheaper and bag the savings.

    Hmm so they updates it but this eejit forgot these quotes don't include the vat.. So it is
    Daily charge
    20.055p=22.61p (inclusive)
          vs old 20.97p(inclusive)
    Night rate
    7.982p=9.22p(inclusive)
       vs old 8.28p (inclusive)
    Day rate
     14.952p =15.12p(inclusive)
            vs old 16.29p(inclusive)
    So only the day rate has actually dropped.. However it not as bad as that seams... As I'm e10 and got a decent split 45/55 I still use more day/peek
    Using my last years figures I'm like £21  better off if I don't improve my night/off peek rate usage... Which tbh is getting harder to do anyway.. So i think I'll likely still save more than that and they know it especially with Covid19 means 4 kids at home using devices so I will save on that peak time usage especially as they will be more likely to be in garden more the off peak times. I'm e10 so have different splits.
    They also have me another little extra pack today so that was 15% in real terms just over an extra £1.33 bill as I'll get another pack before the next one is due as well.. So I'll take what I can get 😂... Anyway that's a long way to say make sure you do the math.. But I'm basically saving a min of 1.5% all in inclusive of daily charge and vat.
