2.9733p per kWh and 10.5p standing charge. That's what my gas costs. Who are you paying 2.499 with talldave. I can't find it that cheap as a single fuel

SSE uSwitch 1 Year Fixed, gas only. Standing charge is 42.25p but as I'm heading towards 60,000 kWhr per year, that's lost in the noise.

BTW: I'm a fan of Zog, as a former customer, but I have to go where the saving's greatest!

60000 kWh!!! What you living in. A crematorium!!. I use 14320 and I thought that was high. 42.25p standing charge is ridiculous too. I understand it saves you money with your usage but I bet it would Increase mine somewhat with standing charge being 4 times what mine is with zog

Single glazed large cottage, not for long though as just given notice. Fed up with incompetent letting agents and scrooge landlord, the worst possible combination. Agree the standing charge wouldn't suit most but our saving was £455 just on gas by switching to SSE.

You must have been paying way OTT for your gas.

I don't think the SSE uswitch tariff is available to new applicants any more, but can see the following suppliers all curently offer tariff(s) that are less than £455 more than the tariff you say you are on with the abnormally high annual usage. (from less than £250 more)

    Zog
    Utility Point
    So
    GNE
    Daligas
    Gulf
    Cardiff Energy
    Bristol Energy
    Better Energy
    RHE/Ebico
    iSupply

Will your new home also have E7? Wouldn't want to break a 30 year run of having E7 meters, especially now you have recently discovered just how much you can save with them rather than spefifically negotiating with a limited number of suppliers that allow it to have a single rate despite the E7 metering.

SSE annual cost would be £1653.61 whereas it would have been £2109.60 staying with Pure Planet, who were one of the best deals available when I switched to them.

I'll ignore your supercilious E7 sarcasm thanks.

It was quite horrifying to see consumption rocket as the temperature dropped, resulting in a lot of "I told you so" comments to my other half about the single glazing. The boiler uses around 100W of electricity too, so the electricity consumption graph tracks the gas consumption graph rather closely!

The real shock came after we'd been here a few weeks, when the guy servicing the boiler pointed out that the meter is in cu ft :-(.

Mines in cubic feet too. Gas meters don't seem to be replaced by utility companies very often unless they are corroding. Probably because meter readers don't come very frequently anymore. They are supposed to give them a cursory safety check when reading them. My electricity meter was replaced by first utility a few years back forca now dumb smart meter
