The holiday sounds amazing. I will be crossing 2 counties when I go on holiday and I am excited about that. Two continents? I would combust with excitement...
Enjoy the anticipation as well as the holidayIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

so, i can now bring myself to articulate what i need to offload. apologies in advance for the rant that will follow. Last week, my mobile company issued me with a new sim as part of an upgrade programme. it stopped me sending texts! it also stopped roaming which, given how often i'm in teh south of Ireland, is a bigger issue. 4 hour drives with no phone! after numerous calls, fixes that didn't work, etc. i was told on wed that they could sell me a new phone that would be compatible with the sim or i could leave. they issued me with a pac code that other suppliers have advised will take between 48 and 72 hours to action and that requires you to be in country while this is ongoing. consequently, no phone to come on holiday with me as i fly from dublin at 9.30 Fri morning. i have been lied to consistently by this organisation to the extent that the final person i spoke to is willing to provide me with a deadlock notice to facilitate a report to ofcom. i'm actually thinking of buying 1 share to enable me to raise this at the agm. i am beyond annoyed.
Tues was a very long day travelling across Ireland when the roaming service that had been confirmed at 10pm mon evening, turned out not to be working. consequently, it was only when i got home that evening, i heard about the attempted burglary interrupted only by dd's presence in the house. this left us minus the bottom panel in our back door. i cannot even think what would have happened had the dog not woken her enabling a call to the police. possessions can be replaced. consequently me and sleep have not been on good terms!
our lovely neighbourhood builder whose kids grew up with mine, came to the rescue, made the temporary repair and subsequently replace the panel with a reinforced version for a total cost considerably less than our insurance excess.
i'm so worried about dd and dog staying here while we're on holiday. we did think about cancelling but got a tom of abuse from madam about how ridiculous we were being! also, since then, to say my head has been all over the place falls into the understatement category!
so much work to get done and can't focus. i was supposed to be with a longstanding client today in Dublin but explained the circs and we cleared things by email and phone.
some people are so lovely and it's easiest to see when things go wrong.
this morning i turned on our local news to see the street my mum lives in featured on the news as there was a murder 5 doors from her.
fingers crossed that's the 3 things as i am frazzled.
last night, i paid my credit card bill 3 weeks earlier than usual and also paid my annual rates bill. I also paid dd for the next 3 weeks for the work she is doing for me. i just wouldn't feel comfortable processing payments via wifi and it's not like there's any great amount of interest to be lost by paying early. we head at 5 o'clock tomorrow and i haven't started to pack but laundry has been done, dry cleaning collected and a call received to advise travel money is ready for collection.
today i am grateful for
knowing some lovely people who are always there when needed

being given a job for my return

Wow! That's a lot of stress going on. Deep breaths. Do you have a "beware of the dog" sign? I've heard that alone can be enough to make opportunistic thieving bar stewards move on elsewhere.
Have a lovely holiday. The admin stuff will sort itself out, and your family will be fine, as DD has told you in no uncertain terms.0% card was £1126.91 / Now £1502.37
