thanks everyone. Like I say, the graduation is happening approximately 15 years later than intended. He did worry me, a lot, in his younger days. Wise words from one friend advised that he would revert to type in the end and he has. Hopefully this may help someone else who reads this.Yesterday was a slow day but I’ve made friends with my new accounting package and brought some records up to date. Other aspects need addressed but there is some progress. I was chased up by two clients, one apologised when they realised that they hadn’t provided me with requested information.
yesterday evening was spent watching the 6 nations opener. I was apprehensive but my team prevailed. This was helped by a red card on a French player. DH treated us to a nice takeaway that earned him £5 cash back.Tonight we are due at a sensory Italian beer sponsored 5 course dinner that was a Christmas present for dh. I’m an odd eater who, even when I drank, never enjoyed beer. It’s communal tables and I’m absolutely dreading it. I tried encouraging him to invite someone else but it was a no though he and dd may have been happy to go if she hadn’t been away.Today I am grateful for

First the good news, last night was better than expected. The bad news is that I’m up 3 pounds and feel exhausted. I also feel incredibly frumpy. DH really enjoyed the food which is just as well as he got elements of four out of my five courses.Other than that, little to report but am here to hold myself accountable for the weight gain. Must update my sig.

Glad you enjoyed the evening! That 3lb might just be water retention from last night. Hope it comes off again soon!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

I hate going to social things that are someone else's idea of what I ought to like.
Well done for getting through it.
I'm sorry about the gain but @jwil has a good point. It could well be a blip. It's the longer term average that counts.
The delicious dessert sounds appealing, what was it?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

So, dessert was served in half a lemon filled with lemon sorbet and topped with a burnt meringue. Quite small but totally enough.Yesterday I met my friend for coffee- it was my turn to pay and was good to have an in person catch up. I also picked dd up from the airport and paid £3 for the under 10 mins pickup area. This really annoys me. Both Belfast airports charge the same. It’s such a rip off.I had visited the sparks shop earlier in the day but left totally uninspired by their food hall. Instead I came home via l1dl where under £20 was spent on fruit, veg, milk, half a duck and other bits and pieces that will contribute to a number of meals. My dinner last night was peanut butter on toast with one of the bananas purchased.Yesterday I also moved a work thing a bit further on but not as far as I would like so need to get it underway today.
today I am grateful for
dd’s safe return- it was fairly wild and windy here
