The cruise sounds really interesting. I've only once been away on holiday for so long: it took some planning but it was worth it.

  • I love the cruise concept, if it’s done well.  There is one cruise line we’ve tried previously that we will never return to.  I like knowing in advance the costs per day and the standard of accommodation. I like being able to sample new places and love only unpacking and packing once.  I love having all details taken care off by someone else.  It’s a holiday I come home from feeling refreshed.

yesterday, I finished up earlier than expected at a client.  I treated dh and I to a takeaway from a social enterprise based cafe. I then went to bed as it had been a heavy week.  Dinner was a reheat of the other half of my takeaway lunch and whoopsied chicken and stir fry veg picked up from Aldi on my Dublin trip on Thursday.

today I need to go to makro and am hoping to persuade dh to drop some stuff to a consignment shop as it’s too big.
    Today I am grateful for
a reliable car taking me to work sites this week
whoopsied items with a spread of dates
    a warm, mainly dry home

You've been working hard! I hope you have a restful weekend.

Should we be concerned about the 'mainly dry' home?

  • I don’t like to tempt fate Cherry. In a house this age, there’s always something damp related to be concerned about. Currently it’s guttering that needs cleared out at the front of the house, a questionable internal window sill and some flashing that needs replaced on a return roof. The person we’ve spoken to about doing it is reasonable, takes great pride in his work but is a nightmare to pin down.

Yesterday we did the makro run so have stocked up again.  We also benefited from the butcher reducing steaks that are dated today and getting some free packets of pancakes and a free loaf. We did however forget to bring items to the consignment store.

Today I had my conversation with mr wii who advises that I’m down 3 lbs over the past fortnight.  I’ll happily take that. DH was down 2.

Yesterday we transferred DD’s share of the cash from the sale of mum’s house so anything that needed to leave our account now has. According to my son, he just likes seeing zeroes in his account.

Today I’m unsure about coffee with my friend but am determined to sort out some work and home stuff.  I’ve been intermittently re reading Dilly Carter’s decluttering book and some bits are resonating.

Right, need to get underway after a second cup of tea.  Today I am grateful for
    weightloss
    free bread
    enthusiasm however long it lasts

Well done on the 3 lb 👍 Your cruise sounds amazing.
    January spends - £587.58
  • Thank you all, I believe this is my recurring plus or minus three pounds around which I believe my weight has settled.  I didn’t do coffee but instead had a few phone chats.  We also watched the 3 outstanding episodes of a prime show called lol Ireland.  This was much more DD’s taste than ours.  Three things went to the charity shop bag which is good.  I’ve decided that I’m not going to aim for items leaving the house this year but rather zones to be cleared.  For example, the space in front of my work wardrobe is populated by bags in need of repair.  The space in front of my bedroom radiator has two smallish boxes both filled with random things.

right, have a 9 o’clock call so need to go.
