Glad to got to visit Ald!.
😵‍💫Ouch to the car bill…..would it be cheaper to go through the insurance 🤷🏻‍♀️
I bet it hasn’t gone quickly for you but it doesn’t seem nearly a year since your mum passed away. Hopefully it’ll all be sorted for you soon so it isn’t hanging over you.

I can see it's probably a good idea keep insurance costs down, so the emergency fund is probably protecting your costs in the long term.

I have mornings when it takes me till eleven to feel my head is awake, is that the sort of thing you mean? Hydration seems to help a bit. I hope your head clears soon. Meanwhile avoid big decisions and, as you say, coffee. :)

  • Yesterday dh was off work and dd was wfh. It was just as well as we are all a bit sniffly. DD’s remedy of choice is tea, dh hits the lemsip while I go the hot cordial and paracetamol route.  DD reverts to her 5 year old self. It’s actually quite funny to watch.  She had arranged to go to a show and didn’t want to bail so instead of public transport, she took my car.
that left dh and I hibernating with a takeaway and starting to watch Shetland that neither of us had ever seen.  We are still on series 2 but it looks like a keeper.
on work news, I got something out the door and an outstanding invoice was paid.  Post vat and tax, it’ll cover my drawings to year end making everything else profit which contributes to my pension. I like hitting this point in q3.  That said, my drawings are deliberately kept low.
We also identified how much will be paid into pb pot 2.  Not as much as I’d have liked but I’d sooner top up the emergency pot.
I also managed to change the bedding and get this into wash.  It think it’s en route to the charity shop once dried as it looks incredibly tired and they can get something from textile recycling.
Today there is a local derby football match near me.  This means that I am effectively under house arrest or, if I leave, I will not get parked on my return. No one parks across my driveway but will happily park opposite in quite a narrow street.  This combined with street trees means I cannot get the car in and I’m not inclined to risk another accident.  Staying in seems best and I may even crack on with some outstanding work.

right, I need to open the parcel that has just arrived. It should contain a work outfit and an offer tube of my usual moisturiser that combined got me a £20 discount.  I try to buy one or two work outfits a year so will now identify one that really needs retired.

    today I am grateful for
a tv show recommendation from here
    prompt parcel delivery

I like Shetland, I'm not sure about the current season yet, but you've got a long way to go for that one.

Hope you've had a good day.

Love the Shetland series, also enjoyed the original books by Ann Cleeves though the Jimmy Perez character in the books is physically very different to Dougie Henshall who plays him.  I know some folk find that off putting but it didn't bother me.  Enjoy :)
  • Yesterday another work item went out the door.  Still lots more to get done ideally by tomorrow.  This morning mr wii and I had a heart to heart.  I’m still on the increase and within a pound of the next stone.  A line needs to be drawn.  I won’t be weighing in next week as we’re in London fri to Mon.  BS was comfortably in range.

Yesterday we went with the house arrest plus dinner from the freezer.  Another three episodes of Shetland were watched and the HP movie was saved to the box.
today being Sunday I would normally meet a friend for coffee.  I’m tempted to swerve as not only do I have work but I think the car park will be even worse this week than it was last.  Given that I can’t do next week, I’m really dithering.

right, despite low levels of motivation, I need to crack on.

    today I am grateful for
work being cleared even if just one item a day
ds finally sending through his letter to Santa without which I really would be clueless.  Why are male adults so difficult to buy for?

Like the idea of your DS sending a letter to Santa.
As you say adult males are not the easiest to buy for.

I was interested to find that the men in the family think each other are easy to buy for, but it's hard to buy for females. Personally, I can easy buy for women and girls but men? Difficult.
