That sounds like quite a different therapy experience from mine! There does seem to be a requirement that they remind us we have x number of sessions and they monitor wellbeing which is a tick-box activity seemingly designed to cover progress and areas of concern. I don't know if you mentioned to this person that you already do a 'gratitude list'? My own take on it might be more along the lines of telling yourself things that you've done well or that you've done that have improved a situation or someone's life... but then I've read your signature, and I don't expect this therapist has!

Anyway, I can't talk about doing therapy homework, as I've not only not touched mine this week, but I've lost the notebook and made no serious effort to find it. (*Blushes*).

I'd missed that you are doing dance classes - it sounds like fun! If your DH doesn't want to continue, perhaps you could suggest teaming up with another person from the class and see if that either persuades him to carry on, or lets you and another person have fun. It's quite telling that you mention it's a shared, structured form of exercise for both of you, which has value in itself. Perhaps you could trade with him: 'I'll go walking/ to badminton/cycling (whatever) with you if you'll keep up the dance classes'?

I would offer to accompany you but there's the small matter of the Irish Sea in the way. :)

Missing you. Hope you're keeping your head above water, this time of year isn't conducive to being out and doing...

  • Thanks Cherry.  It’s been an odd few weeks that included the death of the ipad.  After saying I would go without, I threw the head up and am currently typing on a one day old one.  Not the latest version and £50 less than the fruit store quoted but worth it to me.
So, spoke to mr wii this morning who advised of a 1lb weight gain.  Updated sig by reducing by 1lb as I’m clearly just hovering in the same range.  Checked bs and that’s within range.
Counsellor managed 3 consecutive sessions and it was starting to resonate.  The most recent recommendation was to see if  my anti depressants should be upped.  This week was cancelled as has next week and I’ve been offered 3 weeks with a different person, at a different time and venue.  I’m not sure I can be bothered helping this 3rd party organisation to gain health service funds for a dreadful service provision.
Both house wise and work wise, I’m beyond overwhelmed.  DD has been home intermittently for a few weeks.  It’s not all plain sailing as she has reverted to her at home person while pointing out how she has maintained an independent adult lifestyle.  I know she’s dealing with work stuff but am fed up of being treated dismissively despite being the provider of eggs, cheese, charging points and a car while dh sorts out meals and the dishwasher. When struggling with my work confidence, it doesn’t help.
I've currently a lot of work on but am struggling to deliver.  Today there are things that can’t wait - she says while still playing with a new toy.

Shopping for an extra person who rarely shares plans in advance has resulted in an adverse impact on the freezer.  There have been 3 takeaways this week and that needs knocked on the head.  Today I need to pay myself for the past 2 months and again next week. I’ve been holding off as I’m not sure how finances stand but am very disciplined about not spending from the business account. I get that this makes no sense but it works for me.  Quarterly gas bill hit and we don’t need to raid the pb bill savings.  I doubt I’ll be saying the same next time as the weather has been dreadful so heating has been on more often.

Really need to crack on.  Today I am grateful for
the funds to replace the ipad
being able to hide from financial matters for a few weeks knowing that things aren’t completely derailed

Enjoy the dance classes. Not sure if I said before but we tried them years ago - how we didn’t end up in the divorce courts is beyond me…..turns out I’d terrible at taking direction and won’t be led 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Once you can both dance you’ve no excuse not to get out there dancing 👍

Stable weight and bloods are both good, especially when you've got more than enough other stuff to cope with.

Re counselling, is there a possibility they could put it on hold till the original person is available again? That said, I've pulled out of the CBT by mutual agreement with them. It had its uses but wasn't dealing with the issues that were coming up. (I resigned the job instead, and feel much better. :) )

Work pressures sound heavy. Any chance you can plan in a break? And look at where the pressures are coming from - elsewhere or yourself? If it's something you can take steps to reduce, do it for your own sake. Perhaps think what advise you'd offer another person in the same situation then advise yourself (kindly) to do the same.

I hope your daughter shapes up and does the adult-to-adult thing... she's benefitting from your hospitality not staying in a hotel. I know it's nice having them back though.

Positive news on the iPad (cheaper), gas bill (no PB raid), and dance lessons (call it an investment in your relationship 😊).

Not so good on the 3rd adult's behaviour - is a contribution to increased household costs being made?

Thats shocking re the counselling agency, sounds very unprofessional to me.  How are you meant to build up trust and a therapeutic relationship when they cancel all over the place and mess you about?  It takes courage to start counselling,
