I agree with the others - unless the JM is a thing of beauty that you can look at and admire as an ornament, then you should burn it and enjoy it. Leaving it in a drawer unused does not somehow make the initial spend more valid. Over time the fragrance may fade and then there will be no benefit from it at all."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Thanks for the input re the candles. The plan is to burn them all but all usual places have in use candles at the minute so it’ll be replacing those with stocks from the drawer as and when. That said, I already have a plan to replace the most frequently used, the living room, with another molten brown from the drawer. For some reason, I love their non floral scents for the living room where a black leather one is currently in use.Yesterday was a bit of a wash out. I started on one thing on the to do list which tied up my laptop for more than 20 mins and I never really went back to much. I did deal with a few calls so it looks like the end may be in sight for an ongoing matter.
my tummy continues to feel a bit unsettled due to the wonder drug and consequently my eating habits have gone to pot. Too many toast based meals, last night’s dinner was pancakes. Today I am aiming low but intend consuming an apple.DH is back in the office today for his one day a week. I will have the house to myself! Not sure this will translate into any great plans or activities but I miss being alone at home and it didn’t happen over the last 2 weeks due to NI July holiday issues.
I know I shouldn’t but I’m currently contemplating the purchase of malteasers.

Enjoy you day to yourself.
I also agree on using the candles…..leaving them unused it a total waste as you won’t get enjoyment from them and they’ll be causing clutter.January spends - £587.584 -

Assisted by malteasers, I had a fairly nice though not overly productive day. It was a bit of a mixed bag as it was DD’s birthday and she was under significant work pressure when I called. I know it’s great that she’s doing her dream job, I just wish it wasn’t so far away. Remote communication with both her and ds tends to be more focused missing out on the stuff prompted by something on the tv, that takes you into randomness. Sometimes I feel isolated.Yesterday I had a morning meeting and picked up a favourite lunch on my way home. Unfortunately my tummy couldn’t tolerate it and there was little done for the rest of the day. Still a few things were moved forward. I really need to bite the bullet on one of them today. It’s second on my to dos. Later today the pb pot is being added to - I’ve been hopeful of getting a withdrawal through but it hasn’t happened. It did say it could be up to 10 days and it hasn’t been yet but I’m impatient. Still, that will kickstart next month’s pot with £90 between me and dh. I’m also within 5p of cashing in £5 in small coins. I’m determined to get to ten percent of target by end of august. Wish I was as determined to get on top of work and housework.

Yesterday there were a few babysteps workwise. We have also planned a hot picnic dinner for Saturday which will all come from the freezer. We just need to source something to binge watch in what will be our cleaned to within an inch of its life, living room.Today there are work things that need done plus I want to clean the kitchen. I also need to go to leedl for one of their weekly offers that dh consumes constantly. I will hopefully combine that with a trip to the bank as we found most of the bags of coins to be lodged. It’s only £10 of which £5 has already been allocated to pb purchase. Speaking of which, dh made the end of the month purchase yesterday- see updated sig. I’m not convinced that pb are entirely the way to go but until I find a clear way, that’s what we are doing. I like the prospect of winning big.We got a request for a price reduction on a vinted item that we agreed to. There has since been radio silence. That’s the second time this week albeit on two different items. I find it incredibly frustrating still it’s, in theory, a means of getting stuff out of the house and a few pennies in. We will hopefully get another few items on this weekend.

I am also a Greek yoghurt fan. I stir in a spoonful of almond butter in addition to fresh berries and seeds. Have you tried that?If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Well done on the PBs, almost 10% of the way there."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee1
