Well done on trousers that are too big 👏👏👏 and well done for resisting the £135 purchase. Like you say they’ll be another offer….there always is.
Hope you get rid of the nightmare client once and for all.January spends - £587.584 -

Yesterday I had a client meeting that went well. I then met a former colleague for a coffee. This was after I’d dropped off the stuff to the charity shop. Today I have an online client meeting to get an assignment underway.DH was in the office yesterday so lodged the loose change at lunchtime. I picked him up and we headed to a diy store where the end of season sale was ongoing. £34 spent but on considered purchases. Stuff I’d spotted on Sunday but wanted a second opinion. Happily it was still in stock. We then called into the sparks shop where I picked up my second free treat of the week, this time a loaf. We also got the Greek yogurt which due to a sparks discount, worked out cheaper than the normal large supermarkets.Speaking of supermarkets, I was in one yesterday. I went through the self service checkout as I only had four items. It very kindly upped my bill by 50p as a charity donation that had to be opted out from. I declined. I don’t think it’s the right way to fundraise, I don’t like having to opt out rather than in and I think 50p per transaction is too high an amount in general. We discussed getting a takeaway or going out for a meal last night but came home to cook instead. We would just have been lazy as neither of us particularly wanted anything. Also, some veg was used that may possibly have gone past sulky if it hadn’t been. This morning we both checked pb accounts and each had a win -yay!This was the first on the second pot which automatically reinvests so 0.1% added to my sig. the other win shall go in pre month end with the other odds and sods e.g. the loose change lodgement, the disinvestments from wealthify, the few pounds carried forward from last month, etc. We are still a bit short of target for month end but it could still happen. Part of me is tempted to add what we would have spent on takeout last night but I’d sooner have the option of using that later in the month. So need to get motoring for what is my 3rd day of work in a row. I was shattered last night but did not sleep well.Today I am grateful for

Brilliant that you have that work out of the way! Nightmare client will be history, hopefully soon.
Well done on the too-big trousers and the PB wins. All your small investments of various types are adding up. Yesterday sounded like a catalogue of wins.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Yesterday was a surprisingly good day too. Client meeting was really productive requiring follow up today that will move things along. Today i did my weekly jab and tested sugar levels that remain in range. I have my phone consultation this afternoon so there’s good news to report. The nausea is still there though. I’m not sure how long I can sustain the meds. It’s been ten weeks. Also, the benefits of good sugar control aren’t being felt due to the constant worry about being sick.No shops were visited and no spending occurred. Today I need to pay myself and then clear what should be the last large credit card bill of the year, unless we squeeze in a holiday. Things are a bit up in the air in terms of when dd will be home so no plans can be made. We have decided to visit London in the next month or two. We are waiting to see what rail restrictions might be announced in September. DH needs to go see family, he’s only been once since covid and parents aren’t getting any younger. I haven’t been over at all and am a bit apprehensive about how changed it might be due to economy. It’s a place that I absolutely love. Also, we have a gift voucher for afternoon tea at the savoy that I am determined will not be wasted. It does mean that we will have to book a bag on due to the need for presentable clothes.Time to hit the laptop as I can’t see me settling to work after my appointment. Today I am grateful for
a hopefully improved client relationship

Yes - afternoon tea at The Savoy can’t be wasted. Make sure you book it before you book the trip over as you don’t want to get over the water only to find them fully booked.January spends - £587.583

Yesterday it was like I had ants in my pants. Got some stuff done but also paced a lot, etc. fortunately my consultant called approximately 2 hours earlier than expected which helped. It was perfectly pleasant and I’ll have a 6 month review. Stick with the sick making wonder drug unless it gets unbearable.I then tried to return a call to Scottish Widows about my pension pot. I transferred money in at the end of March that didn’t show on my May annual statement. I called, queried this and was told it was a delay in processing but it was in the account and this would be confirmed in writing. The letter appeared mid June. In July I got quite a shirty email basically stating that the funds have never been received. I responded with evidence of bank transfer referencing their earlier communications and stated I wanted it considered as a complaint. Someone called 2 days ago and left a message which I attempted to return. Apparently they should have given me more information without which my call would not be handled. They wouldn’t even take my plan number, etc just refused to help. I asked that the call recording be retained but they refused as I hadn’t cleared security due to no complaint number.Another email has been issued. The money I transferred is more than I take in drawings each year as I’m trying to make up for pension free years while avoiding taxes. I need to know it’s safe.
I checked out a few review sites and see their rating is sitting at between 1 and 3 in part because some people were saying you can’t give zero. I’m now looking for a new pension provider but think I need to lurk on the pension boards first.Today I will be productive. I’ve an email to go to a client, I am going to properly clean my kitchen and living room. A small wash is going on first and our bare fridge needs supplies. Work emails should coincide with popmaster.
