The nasty meds do give good blood sugar control however I’m not getting the anticipated benefits of this due to the nausea. Unfortunately this week my weigh in showed a 2 lb increase though there were also fewer tummy upsets. I need to rein in the empty calories. I could maybe start on porridge for breakfast- it’d certainly be weather appropriate.Yesterday we did the cash and carry run. Little was purchased bar toilet roll, kitchen roll, bleach, cheap fizzy water for dh, Pepsi max and some grocery bits and I’m down £150. A trip was made to Lidl on way home which was just under £30 but included £12 on paint that is needed. We were also able to get the vinted parcel dropped off.We appear to have a problem with our dishwasher. I found a length of black rubber lying on the bottom and we can’t figure out from where it came. My money is on it being some kind of door seal. It needs fixed or dishes need done by hand, which I’m quite prepared to do. DH believes that dishes can be stacked until it’s working again with no thought how that might happen! If he can’t figure it out, I’m hoping my washing machine man can help if I call him tomorrow. On a positive, I’ve identified a book for declutter and a home for something I no longer want to keep but, for sentimental reasons, couldn’t just offload. There seem to be so many things like that.I’ve one meeting scheduled for the coming week and some assignments diaried. I’m meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon, it’s my turn to pay. Need to get presentable for that.

It's worth looking at the how to videos on Youtube as, if it's the door seal, it's a job you may be able t do yourself. I found the difficult bit was fitting it right way out, but if it was just lying in the bottom, perhaps it's damaged?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Cherry, you tube quite possibly came to the rescue. The machine has been loaded but wasn’t turned on overnight as dh wants to keep an eye on it. Whereas I would have just taken a chance and mopped up any leaks this morning. Our recycling gets collected today and 15 trade magazines were decluttered to it. Two different candle holders went into the charity shop bag, a baking kit was used and the box went to recycling and we now have two completely usable worktops even if not completely clear. Some programs have also been decluttered from the virgin box.Moneywise, yesterday was a nsd as the rain was so bad, I couldn’t face going out. Tomorrow is forecast to be our only dry day this week so a full load is going in overnight and a half load tomorrow morning. Hopefully it’ll dry outdoors as I hate wet clothes in the house.Really need to get work underway as I’m expecting things to ramp up after this week’s meeting.

How did the dishwasher cope? I have a fear of leaving things running since I once discovered a washing machine emitting sparks, so I'm glad you left it till the day!
Good going on the decluttering. Slow and steady wins the race, and little bits of extra space really add up.
And it sounds as though work is going well.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

To be honest, work would go a lot better if I could just apply myself. Need to knuckle down and get on with things. Today is dh’s office day but he has a dr appointment mid afternoon so I’ll be on taxi duty. First load of laundry is on a final rinse so needs hung out and some more put in. So far, the weather is as predicted which is good.
Cherry, the dishwasher repair was a success, thank you.Oh, an update on sw. they called yesterday to tell me the money was in my accounts so everything was sorted. Over the course of the call, the complaints person advised that he hadn’t actually read the email they sent me. So the complaint hadn’t been fully investigated nor had the one submitted last week been acted upon. I have advised that I want all replies in writing and no more calls and that I want details of their escalation procedures.
coincidentally, I received an email from a money related site that I visit from time to time. They are doing an online tutorial on vanguard funds that I will watch this week. Thanks for the signpost jwil.Right, showered, dressed and hopefully some laundry out before I drop dh off and pick up a prescription. I will drop some stuff into ds and will hopefully be home for the music quiz despite mr Bruce being on holiday.

Glad that your funds are there, and hope you get the complaint in and dealt with finally!in_need_of_direction said:To be honest, work would go a lot better if I could just apply myself."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Hello INOD! I rarely visit MSE these days but wanted to see how you were doing. I'm so glad that you got the money owed from the nightmare client but it sounds as if there are still things that need sorting with them before you can finally draw a line and move on.
You've done so well with achieving the goals you set; I always think I should take a leaf out of your book and just get on with stuff.
I do hope hope the nausea settles down. It sounds really awful having that every day. I wish you a humungeous PB win, AND one for your dh, who sounds absolutely wonderful.

I would say what appauling service that is from SW, only I can't spell it. Just can't, complete and permanent blank. Shall I settle for abysmal?
Well done for fixing the DW.And getting the laundry done: it's not so easy these days, is it?
@Verbatim, good to see you post again. I hope all's well with you?

Good to see you Verbatim, thanks for dropping in though I’m completely bemused that you think I just get on with things. I wish I did!
yesterday did not go as planned. Got first load of laundry hung out after dropping dh off and picking up meds. Started to empty the dishwasher and had to take a work call. Put second load on for a final rinse. Another call then had to drop some things to ds pre lunchtime. Home, hung second laundry out, finished dw, sat down for lunch and to finish my book. Took dishes to kitchen, looked out and one of the two laundry lines had snapped leaving clothes on the grass.I could have cried but the ADs must be working. I didn’t but instead put the airer outside and used it for smaller things to put larger ones on the remaining line. Took another call then it was time to get dh for his appointment. I completely gave up on trying to get any work done and instead slumped in front of telly except when I had to bring clothes in. There are only 6 or 7 things still damp and they went on the airer and will shortly go back on the line. It seemed like a complete waste of a day though 5 things were decluttered to ds when I went down.Today has to focus on work as I’m rapidly approaching a deadline. Right, bum into gear.

Oh no! to the laundry, though you seem to have it under control. Just a hassle you could do without.
