  • Thanks cherry. Application went in ahead of time. I don’t know for sure if it’s what’s needed but drew a line under giving more time to tweak it. I believe the entire exercise has been biased in favour of an internal candidate and have queried the process but submitted anyway.

Things at the client are stuttering along. I wish I had the trustees’ ability to ignore binding statutory deadlines for which they are responsible. It looks like it’s going to be a long weekend of work.

Last night after submitting the application and after dinner, dh and I stayed up too late watching The Rock, which we have both seen more times than we could count. It was a nice evening but I’m now tired. We also tried to identify a washing machine repair man as the bearings are definitely on their way out on ours as it sounds like it’s about to take off. Spends yesterday were restricted to the pound it costs for an on-site lunch. These will be higher today as I need deodorant. However, if it’s on offer in boots, I could use points.
I am fed up tolerating an out of shape fraying divided laundry basket in our bedroom so had identified a replacement. I checked out a few other places and saw a more attractive option for a similar price. Last night I cashed out wins from my tv quiz for vouchers that mean the cost to me will only be £4. I see this as a good result. One toleration killed off and one defective item that will leave the house for little spends.

Yesterday I got some not so good health news that I am struggling to process. I really need to get my head around this but that won’t be today.

    Today I am grateful for
    A cosy relaxing night in
    Low spends

I'm sorry the health news isn't so good. You are making progress elsewhere though - love the way you wipe out tolerances as a way of caring for yourself.

  • Yesterday I worked at the client and gained some clarity that I now need to commit to paper and get circulated. I went for a massage last night and am happy to report that my back and shoulders are in a much better state than when I started with this lady. I then had some time to kill before getting dd from the airport as she’s home this weekend though I’m not sure why. I stopped at a t3sco and on the way into the car park, one from a group of teenagers jumped in front of my car.
I was in bits. I went in and reported this to the store who called the police but nothing can be done. Apparently they were hanging around outside as they had previously been put out of the store. The staff were excellent and handled the whole thing professionally while offering me water, etc.

So got dd from airport, she offered to drive home but I declined as I was afraid to not face driving again. It was the slowest of journeys. Given we were getting back close to ten o’clock, dh had suggested a takeaway but I identified stuff in the freezer that he had ready for our return so was pleased with the saving and the small space emerging in the freezer.
Yesterday I had to go to the bank for a client and used the opportunity to cash in a withdrawn £1 that emerged with the Christmas decorations. That paid for on site lunch.

    Today I am grateful for
    DD being home

Sorry about your near miss. How awful.

Glad the massages are still beneficial and ongoing.

How horrible: little idiots. (Or big idiots, when I think about it). Hope you're okay now.

I didn't know the old £1 coins could still be exchanged. We have some somewhere.

  • Apparently banks will still take old £1 and £5. Alternatively charities sometimes have arrangements where they can get the value so someone could benefit.

Yesterday was an odd sort of a day. I’m not sure what is going on with dd. We kept holding off on things like making a dinner decision trying to find out what her plans were but ended up with a latish takeaway that dh covered costs for. I did, over the course of the day, make a big batch of french onion soup from onions that needed to be used, aging garlic and an open bottle of white wine that neither dh nor I would have consumed plus it is recycling day tomorrow so the bottle will go.
I also cooked up a gammon that’s bb tomorrow so our Sunday breakfast is that and mushrooms that need used rather than our go to bacon and mushroom sarnies. The rest of it will be sliced, portioned and frozen. Our start date for the bsd is two weeks today and it’ll be of use then.
Unfortunately I also identified foodstuffs in the fridge that have to go. Food waste collection is also tomorrow and there’s a tub of cream, a third of a tub of custard and an unopened tub of coleslaw. I have advised dh that the veg consumption needs to be upped from today so I need to tackle the fruit and veg drawer today and make plans. We still have cheese so use could be made of this with broccoli to provide dh with a side to whatever he’s eating over the next day or two. There are carrots and parsnips that I love so maybe cook those today. I could even buy a leek and make some veg soup.

Very little progress was made elsewhere yesterday and I am under work time pressures. My must do is getting two invoices issued. I also need to get papers written and issued for a Tuesday meeting.

This morning I had my weekly conversation with mr wii. It says I’m the same but the number has gone up by 1 since last week to 13st 7lbs. I have set a target on the machine to drop 4 pounds by three weeks from today. This will get me to the other O category.
On other news, the final part of my Christmas present arrived from dh yesterday. While still working I had bought my most expensive pair of jeans despite them being on sale, and I really liked the fit. He tracked down the same pair but in black and got them for me. This completely made my day. By choice I am a jeans person unfortunately i do not have a standard jeans shaped body and Illfitting jeans reinforces that. I know it’s silly to be this excited over an item of clothing but it’s a real confidence boost.

On other news, the furry one was at the vet. All is good and her nails have been clipped for the first time ever due to less exercise due to sore joints. I’m still toying with hydrotherapy for her as she loves swimming and I think a heated pool would be good. It’s £28 a session and 12 miles away.

So plan for today is to update my sig when I get the bank figures, invoices, reports, go see mum with dd and consider using fruit and veg.

    Today I am grateful for
The furry fiend’s good if aging health
DD being home. I think there’s something going on with her at present so I’m glad she’s here while dealing with it.
Heading off some, if not all, food waste.
