Is there any possibility of laundry facilities at work? I'm guessing there may be some on the premises. My work allowed me to spin and dry a load last week when our washer broke down. The trade-off is usually something brought in for the common good - food, generally.

Of course that's no good if you don't have work facilities... sympathies from me as laundry mountains are a nuisance. Someone's coming to investigate ours tomorrow but we have already picked out another on line and I'm quite excited as it's the new version of the one we have now that's been a real work horse, but the new version has a better spin speed. Don't tell me I'm sad, I guessed it already. :D

Well done on the business account!

  • There are facilities at the client and in theory I could use them however one of my big struggles has been clamping down on staff abusing what’s available for the clients for their own benefit so I wouldn’t want to make use.

I left there just before four yesterday and was back at half seven until eleven. Today I am working up to going back in and being there until half past four.

In between being on site, I gathered up all the laundry bar underwear and left it in for service washes. It’s just a relief to get shot of it. It was quite funny though as dh went to get changes after work and found that all his clothes had disappeared. All guest bedding, towels, etc has gone. It’s a relief. My plan is to get the press out tomorrow and get all the ironing bar my trousers cleared. DH will do those using the iron. This will ease the morning pressure.

Right I need to get motoring as I want to drop a few things to the charity shop, call to the bakery for supplies for my mum and then get to the client.

    Your life is certainly busy.
My job isn’t well paid but I’m pleased that once I’m home - I’m home and anything I do (which isn’t a lot these days) is completely my own choice.
I really admire you - I wouldn’t want the responsibility of working for myself. And as for being available the hours you are  - hats off to you.
Unexpected calls from family are always welcome :T

  • I've got to agree with everything milann wrote.

I hope you managed to get away today from work at four thirty as planned and had a restful evening.

I see what you mean about laundry at work. I'm glad you've managed to get rid of the backlog in a way that doesn't compromise your stance on work facilities. It must have taken some doing to carry it all but how nice to get it home and back in use.

Well done for avoiding the take away. :)

  • So Saturday I got away from the client at 4.45. In time to retrieve the laundry. I vegged out Saturday night with food from freezer / stores. Yesterday went by in a flash as I got all ironing cleared and mainly put away. We had the annual tree burning which put the scent of pine all through the house and meant that we didn’t turn the heat on until after 6 despite it being a cold day. I then dealt with work stuff for around three hours. I am tired but there are deadlines this week after which I should be able to breathe.

Right, I need to get motoring. Today I am grateful for

  • Yesterday was a bit of a nightmare dealing with concerns about a colleague’s mental health expressed by other staff. Managed an urgent occupational health referral and had to stay late to tell them about it.
Today I need to deal with a funeral first thing then a meeting with a staff member who walked off a night shift leaving it short last week.

Some progress has been made on a few matters which is good. I also started a paperwork sort in front of last night’s telly. One wee bag to the charity shop and 15 items to recycling or shredding plus dh sorted two categories of stuff into date order. There is such a paperwork mountain, babysteps are the only way to go.

Right, need to get dh to work before heading to the ten o’clock funeral.

Work does sound difficult: not just the delicate situation but the extra hours, then the funeral today. :( Your professionalism shines through. I saw a definition of 'professional' as either someone who does the right thing when no one is looking, or words to that effect. I hope today is easier.

Well done on the baby steps, by the way. :)
