I'm sorry to hear the inspection wasn't good. If it's the same sort of inspection we get at my workplace, absolutely everything is potentially covered, from paperwork to hygiene to feelings, and it's hard to be perfect at everything but it must make you rage when you've seen it coming and it hasn't been addressed. Does the inspecting body have power to enforce anything in a way that might give you 'power to your elbow'? It sounds as though you have the potential to improve things but only if they pay attention to you and management is behind you.
On a lighter note, yay to 'free' hair care and the lovely massage. :)

  • How very frustrating for you. As Cherry says do the inspection team have any sort of penalties they can impose for the lack of improvement?

  • Ultimately the inspection team can pull funding. If they do, we shut up shop and they are the ones with the statutory responsibility to tackle the issue so it creates a major issue for them. It’s just so irritating to be lectured about use of public funds by those who collaborated in things getting to this point. The visit was also very poorly planned and executed being fitted in around a colleague’s leaving lunch among other matters that meant it dragged into three days instead of the day and a half that would have been reasonable. There may be one major upside which could work for us. Still, I just need to move forward.

Yesterday was a good but spendy day. I managed to get other pre holiday bits and bobs done at the hairdressers which resulted in a much bigger bill and £45 being added to the voucher. To be honest, it feels like I’ve been spending a lot on myself with the treatments, etc but it’s the amount I would have previously spent every 2 months and my back feels so much better for it. I hadn’t realised just how knotted it was until it started to release. Final treatment is tomorrow evening of the batch of four. We then work out how to move forward but the one hour treatment costs what I can invoice for an hour to my lowest paying client so that will be my trade off as I want todo this regularly, possibly once a month. In reality it’d take two hours work from me to cover tax, etc plus travel but I’m more than happy to do this.
This Friday I have booked an additional session which is pure reiki without the massage. Fingers crossed it works for me. I previously went regularly but the practitioner retired and died. I’ve tried three others but it hasn’t clicked. This lady gives a good vibe.

Lunch yesterday was ok and our friends gifted us a home made apple pie which was great. It was good to catch up but I had one of those moments where my mouth worked ahead of brain and I invited them for Christmas dinner. If they accept we will be 8 instead of our usual 4 and this will include a veggie.

In other news, we took my letter to the post office and I got my £100 refunded. We also had a mosey around some shops and picked up some cheap stocking fillers for my two plus the two they have invited to stay. We have agreed that a budget is needed for the guests as we want to do stockings but not go overboard. We just couldn’t do our presents with others in the house who didn’t have something to open.

Today I have updated my sig with current mortgage position and offset fund position. I also had my weekly conversation with mr wii. It showed a small decrease which brings me into another pound also recorded in my signature. We need to do some serious planning but we will have the time for this on our holiday. Thanks to getting my po money back, I will hopefully have enough cash to cover until December.

What a productive time you've had! About time you had that money back, and perhaps you could put it towards your massage fund?

Your Offset savings are progressing nicely in the right direction. :)

  • I’m not sure that productive is the right term. Feels like the weekend was indulgent and lazy. One bit of bad news was that we found an out of date cheque made out to DH that I’m certain he had told me he had lodged to his account. Still, what you never had....
I’m just hoping the people who gave it don’t take it as a snub.

Yesterday was spent doing very little bar watching Harry Potter and eating from cupboard and freezer. Today I’m running between two clients and have massage at seven and am worried about the roads as it was a dreadfully windy night to the extent that we both had a disturbed sleep.

Right I’ve had my porridge now I need to get a move on. Today I am grateful for

Sometimes you need 'down time' to catch up and recover... but you did get your money back from the account that never materialised, you've done some nice things for your health and wellbeing, you've met up with friends and you've made progress towards Christmas. It doesn't sort out the situation with That Client but theses are things that matter, and you have to live a little along the way.

Any chance the cheque could be reissued? It may be worth a try though annoying if it can't.

I hope the roads aren't too bad, it was pretty stormy here last night and we're a lot more sheltered than you.

It’s good to hear you had a lazy day to relax and recharge.
I hope you manage to put things in place for the next inspection as it must be very stressful. Has the result had any effect on staff thinking they need to up the ante at all?
You’ll enjoy Christmas Day with a houseful- are they likely to muck in or will they want waiting on?
    January spends - £587.58
  • The best thing my two do to help at Christmas is to go see their father for brunch! I will make the bulk of the starters and desserts in advance and will only cook the main course from scratch on the day. The formula is we get up, they, and this year, their friends, head for brunch. This gives us time to sort out the presents and to start cooking meats and stuffing and prepping the veg. They return, we do presents then 3 of us go see my mother while dh keeps an eye on meat, puts veg to cook. The offspring then change into elasticated pj bottoms and crack open a few bottles and dinner is served.

It works well as it’s generally a day with little pressure. Oh, and we light the real fire in the sitting room that houses the Christmas tree and the presents. I do love a real fire even though I’m the one to clean it out afterwards.

Winds continued here last night but we are incredibly lucky compared to some who are dealing with floods. Yesterday I spent running between a number of clients and, it appears, getting little done. There were spends for a client that can be reclaimed.

Last night was my treatment that went well and surprisingly the roads were ok. It’s in a bit of a rural area but the journey was smooth. Today I need to reschedule a hospital appointment and a blood test.

    Today I am grateful for
A reasonable client that hopefully means I can avoid a Dublin site visit
    A good meeting
A meat filled doggy bag for the dog
