  • Milann it’s that very diet. To be honest, I’m not convinced it’ll be for me but even if i can give it a good go, it has to be better than not. Who knows, it might just click into place.

So, we didn’t go for dinner last night but we did have the stew that I made. I also brought some to my mother who was in surprisingly good form. For some reason, she gave me £100. She did owe me £50 which was a cash back cheque from when I sorted her insurance but there was no reason for the £100. She has the money and very few outgoings so it won’t leave her struggling but it is weird.

Bits and pieces of housey things were done yesterday. A duvet cover was Kondoed. I need to get my list on here. I also cleaned my bedroom light which was ridiculously grubby. My big achievement however was firing up my laptop to do some work stuff and actually getting my submission made for an accreditation rather than doing client bits and pieces. This relates to the exam I passed last October. Had a bit of an lbm when I realised that sometimes I need to prioritise the long term over the immediate.

So, am at 2 clients today and need to call a former Dublin based client this afternoon. Today I am grateful for

  • Monday night I had to go back to that client to cover a 7.30 to 10 shift due to staff absences. It was very quiet so very slow. Was back in yesterday morning and left early as dh had a gp appointment at five. He had also gone to pick up the hof stuff on his lunch break. Because I was home early, I took a chance on my hairdresser being able to fit me in for a cut and colour as they do late nights on tues and Thursday. I was lucky. My roots are now covered and I paid using a voucher I received for a Christmas present. I also made an appointment for first thing this morning to get legs waxed, eyebrows and eye lashes tinted. I will do that before going to the client. Tonight I’m going to attempt to get to the c25k. So far there have been 4 sessions and I’ve only been to one. Sometimes like Monday, it’s been work related. Other times it’s been cold and wet and I’ve hibernated.

I spoke to dd last night. She’s struggling. Her course / work placement is not well structured, her professional lead is doing this role for the first time and she’s missing the dog. That said, I’d have willingly gift wrapped said dog at 6.20 this morning and would have posted her if I could have. DD is also living on an overdraft for the first time in her 32 years. She is not comfortable with this. It is fee and interest free but is still a debt.

Dh’s delightful mother turns 80 this weekend. She claims not to want a fuss so he isn’t going over. For me that is such a male attitude but it’s his mother so I’m leaving it to him to make a decision. She says she will do something in August when her spoilt brat youngest son will be home from overseas. I’m not prepared to organise life around his travel arrangements though I expect dh will.

Tonight I need to knuckle down and get some other client stuff done as I’m meeting one tomorrow. I also need to schedule client stuff for next week. I noticed yesterday that a former client was back out to tender for service that I provided in a previous life. They advertised a few weeks ago but the deadline was too tight when I saw the opportunity. I’m giving it a shot this time. It’s only 10 days a year but these would be for up to 4 years.

    Today I am grateful for
Efforts of a former client to assist
Being able to help out a friend with a work problem
Following through on my commitment to me by visiting the hairdresser

I'm sorry that DD is struggling at the moment. It must be uncomfortable for her to have an overdraft if she's always been sensible with her money. Re. the diet - last night I went along to a talk by Dr Michel Mosley (the 5:2 and Blood Sugar diet man) - he was very entertaining and informative. His new diet - Fast 800 - is an amalgamation of the latter two diets based on the latest medical research. He has an explanatory website called Fast 800 (and of course the obligatory new book!) if you want to take a look. I'm sticking with the original 5:2 (two days a week at 500 calories) as it seems to be working for me, but he has now upped it to 800 calories per two days a week. Might be worth looking into if you don't like the idea of a straight six weeks on 800 calories a day?

  • SSG, it’s not that dd was ever sensible as such. It was that she lived at home when doing her primary degree! She’s now in your county which isn’t the cheapest and is combining a full time job with a masters while living on a bursary.
I didn’t get to c25k last night, I got out of work too late so instead I did an energetic 20 min dog walk. I then fell asleep sitting up at 8 o’clock. It was only for 10 mins but it prompted an early night. I’m still tired though thanks to early morning doggy antics.

Today I have client work to get to. A site visit scheduled for next week has deferred for a week which is good. It provides some breathing space. Yesterday my last outstanding invoice was paid. I need to crack on and issue two more that are outstanding. I also need to set up a meeting with a prospective client.

    Today I am grateful for
An invoice being paid without the need for follow up
    Sausage sandwiches
    An early night

Glad you have had some 'you' time.

Good luck with the tender, and yay for people paying up!

    I agree with this :T.

Sorry DD is struggling, working full time and studying must be very difficult. I hope things get easier for he soon.

  • Yesterday I went to a pre arranged client visit who didn’t have availability to see me. Instead I had an early finish and went home and got some laundry underway in advance of the weekend. I also managed to put some dirty cutlery into the waiting to be unloaded dishwasher so that went on for a short cycle! Some days it’s just one step forward and two back.

Because I had some afternoon time with the dog, we were able to go for dinner and get use of the last of our vouchers. I then came home and issued an invoice. Quite small for the tail end of some work but better in my pocket than the clients. I also set up a meeting for Saturday morning. I did 3 hours yesterday morning at the demanding client but got some things moving which was good. Today I am meeting with their regulator at three. It’s 20 miles away but will hopefully mean an earlier finish which is good.
This weekend I will be spending some time on house stuff, some on a project that I want to do. It’s kinda work but for free as a thank you to someone who made a big difference for me. I am also giving some time to business development and will be raising an invoice on Sunday.

    Today I am grateful for
    Snuggle time with the dog
Shelter from the elements, it’s wet, cold and miserable and so many don’t have somewhere to go
